- In this video we will look at how to setup the stereo FX Loop.
We will put the Line6 HX One in the effects loop of the Boss IR-2.

It definitely will, I have nothing bad to say about it, honestly I am considering getting rid of all my modellers, I am that happy with it. So THAT'S the way you do it! Totally makes sense - I'm babysitting an H9 and want to run stereo - (there are a couple videos out there that the chain didnt seem or sound right and had me scratching my head)

Maybe you could help me understand something ( I'm a bit dyslexic and the H9 is as new and unfamiliar as the IR2 is to me 🤣 I know - Im an idiot 🙃)
Anyway... the ins and outs of the H9 are both double ( labeled 1 & 2) - should I use a stereo Y insert cable ( 2 ts to TRS) both from the send and TO the return? ( this is where my brain fritzes out)
don't mean to bug you - I just haven't seen anyone explain this with this particular unit -
Stereo FX loop with a single jack for both the send and the return has me confused
@@christopherkennedy873 You Need to connect your output 1 and 2 of your H9 with 2ts to TRS cable to the return on IR-2. Then you need to connect your input 1 on your H9 to the send of your IR-2 with a simple 1/4" patch cable. basically you need to hook up exactly how I did with the HX One and it will work. make sure you follow the steps to set up the fx loop on the IR-2 to stereo mode. let me know if you get it to work.

Yeah seriously.. why did they make it so complicated? I hate it when devices need special secret steps that activate stuff. A small switch would have been useful for folks like me that hate to read manuals lol

I'm tempted on this pedal, what's been holding me back from modelers is they usually have too many options for me, this one seems easy to use and sounds great.
It definitely is much easier to use than the multi-effects pedals and it sounds fantastic. I am pleased with it, I wish this came out before all the other items I spent literally thousands on. Have a great week!

Hey brother! I love stereo rigs as well. I have been fooling around with the HX1 and I gotta say I am impressed, I am working on a video for it at the moment, hopefully will get the editing completed soon. It is not the first time I use Line 6, I used to own the XT live back in 2007 had that for a few years but got tired of the menu system so I went back to analog pedals again. Rock on brother!👍

There's probably a lot of people thinking: "If I didn't already have my ***** (insert favourite rig here) I'd definitely be looking into this..." 😄 You can add my name to that list. My only true issue with all this wonderful technology now is that I am forever having to trawl Amazon for weird adapters and cables I never even knew existed! LOL Fun with electricity, what could appeal to the inner child in me more? Cool box (now if they made it in a nice TARDIS blue, I could say: "nice blue box" and then I'd HAVE to buy one!!!)

Are you going to do any tutorials on IR loading for the IR-2? I have one for a few weeks and hadn't had time to swap out the stock IRs. Love the idea of the pedal, not loving the stock stuff.
I can definitely make a tutorial video for you, I actually got some IR's from Sonic DNA that I wanted to show. I agree you can find IR's that sound better. I will try to work a video up soon. stay tuned.

May i know where should I connect the cables from Boss IR-2 Output A&B？

My Pleasure. Your Out A and B get connected to either a PA if you are performing live, or front of house, or to flat response speakers or Cabinets depending what you use. if you are in studio you would connect direct to your audio interface.
Considering the price tag and how practical this pedal is, I'm considering buying one as a backup system if my amp fails. Does it take high-gain pedals (Like a Big Muff or other fuzz pedals) well?
I just tested it out with a bunch or different high gain pedals (from my HX1) in front and it does better with some of the amp models than others. Out of the 11 amp models there were at least 3 or 4 that seemed to take the high gain better. I am no metal guy by any means but it sounded decent to me. I hope this helps you out. Awesome! I'm thinking about getting one of these but I love the sound of getting reverb/delay into the preamp and I'm rebuilding my rig to stereo so is there a way to route the effects loop so that it hits the preamp?
Congrats, you will be happy with this pedal, it is really good. There is no real way to make the effects loop hit the preamp. but if you are using with the HXOne, you could put he IR-2 in the effects loop of it and chose its position in the HXOne, so then you can move your amp before or after. don't know if this helps you.

@@marcusdluxe I was getting mixed up with that too, I bought two cables for stereo thinking that is how it worked but the send is like the guitar signal going into your pedal there is only one cable from the guitar (I tried hooking up a stereo cable to the send and no sound came out but with the single jack it works). the input signal of the guitar goes into the input on the IR2, the send is that same signal that is sent to the input of the HX1 or any other stereo pedal. the outputs of the hx1 or stereo pedal goes into the return in stereo mode with a stereo cable, mono mono trs cable. the output a and b from the IR 2 is in stereo and the the effect in the loop comes out in stereo from those outputs. I hope this is helps and does not make it more complicated. but all you need is to do is hook it up like in this video and the output will be in stereo with the effect in the effects loop in stereo as well.
@@ThePaddedPedalroom ahhh, yeah. Totally get that and that is indeed what I thought you meant in your video. I was purely confused by other videos and advertising saying "stereo FX" loop. But it totally makes sense it would be a mono send for the FX loop pedal to process into stereo and return it.

Do you use stereo cable for output? If so. Do you have to use both jack A & B ?
I use this pedal in stereo so I use both outputs A & B, if you want to just use mono use out A only.
My stereo effects loop is noisy in the ir2.
Sorry to hear that, if it is noisy maybe you should return it. did you check your cables, power supply and pedals in the fx loop?
Is it the same just putting the HX after the IR2 instead if using the fx loop? I don’t use the headphone out so I just have my stereo delay after the ir2.
if it sounds good stick with your setup. The difference is when you insert the effect in the fx loop it would be like putting the effect in between the amp head and the cabinet. putting the effect at the end is more like adding the effect after the complete amp and cab, kind of how you would do in a recording studio.
@@ThePaddedPedalroom I'm too lazy to try and re-wire the board just to compare the two, don't think it will change that much... But if someone else wants to AB that?😃
@@JW-qp5uf Typically delay and reverb work well in either position, modulation effects work better in the loop or in front of the amp.
