Fun Fact: The ice dancers in Ridonculous Race were actually referenced at the beginning of the first season. When Trent's introduced he talks to Chris about the ice dancing show he was on, and Beth mentions that she had also watched that show and that one of the contestants dropped his partner on her head. This perfectly lines up with Jacques and Josée's story, which I think is amazing that they created characters off of an obscure moment that no one would easily remember from so early on in the series.
It's so weird how they are with lore. Sometimes they have amazing attention to detail like this, and other times they can't even decide things like the length of time between Island and Action
The ice dancers mentioned that they fell at the Olympics, but Trent said it was a show and Beth confirmed my saying that they got immunity which you can’t get at the Olympics.
@@Dafawfulizer Funnily enough, though this may sound unbelievable, I actually attempted to book an interview with Christian Potenza, Kristin Fairlie and Megan Fahlenbock recently but their agents all turned me down. Just to clarify, this was part of a passion project I had in mind where I wanted to interview several members from the cast about their experiences on the show, how they got on the show and how the show was made. While them turning me down was not surprising, I was saddened by Kristin not wanting to do an interview particularly because Bridgette was my favourite character and I feel she should have made it furhter than she did in all of her seasons. I know I could have tweeted her, but I wanted to tell this to her face because: 1. I was really surprised to find out she was the voice of many other cartoon characters I grew up with (Emma from Stoked and Little Bear being examples). 2. I hoped to ask her for a digital autograph from at least one of them instead of having to send a letter,s elf-addressed stamped envelope and photo to autograph over the mail. I hope I can find at least one former cast member who would be willing to give me a chance for an interview.
Unpopular opinion: Lindsay swearing out Heather in TDI was a lot funnier censored with massive bleeps. I imagined how many swears she used as a kid and it was great.
The bleeped version is great and the edited version sucks. Seriously, I can’t watch the American versions of the first three seasons due to all the edits and censorship. I prefer to watch the original versions that are available on the show’s TH-cam channel.
Glad to know I’m not the only person who thought brick got robbed of being in all stars when somehow Sam got brought back. Even if you go off of how heroic they are, Sam’s most heroic moments were refusing to give up for his team in the spider episode and trying to save Lindsay from the Sasquatch. Brick literally threw the competition they could have easily won in order to save Mike, Zoey, and Cameron from dying in the mines. He literally gave up a chance at a million dollars because he never leaves a man behind. Brick deserved to come back and should have gotten way more screen time in my opinion.
That’s a good point, but Owen had a way better spot on All Stars. Owen could’ve possibly(?) made that season a little bit better..? I just think that Owen is an insanely iconic character, and I like brick, but Owen is amazing.
@@CANUBETHEOLDKANYE i think the reason why they didn't bring owen back to all stars (despite being one of the best performing players of all time) is cause he just had too much screentime i think they would've brought him back had he not rejoined in action for no reason and went farther than he should've in world tour too but yeah adding sam over brick is pretty inexcusable; sam's chill and i don't dislike him but he is absolutely not an all star
I always assumed the Alejandro faking his leg injury was a way to appear weaker to his team do they wouldn't see him as a threat, and thus focus more on people like Heather and Jo
That could be right! Speaking of weak, 1 word. Duncan. WHAT DID THEY DOOOOO? He got sent to jail, so he probably won't be in the new reboot. This upsets me, and the arc made no sense being there. It was pointless.
@@youdontknowme2717 so the reboot is supposed to be Atleast 5 years later so Duncan is probably already out because he got arrested for either vandalism or arson which are usually only 2-5 year charges in the first place
The first season is the only one that has the vibe that everyone was close. Like at a certain point in the season when there were only 10 or so campers left there was a real community feel. The summer camp vibes of them all having to live together just really made it feel like they were all good friends sometimes. Everyone had moments with each other that showed that too.
Yeah, the contestants definitely felt like a community in Island. In fact, the scene I remember the most is the shot a the end of the Island intro where the contestants sit around the campfire (with Chris standing nearby), Gwen and Trent try to kiss but Cody (who has a crush on Gwen) interrupts and everyone whistles awkwardly. While most if not all of these contestants fought with each other at one point or another, this scene emphasised the familial feeling they somehow seemed to share deep down.
i think the reason alejandro is a better villian than heather is because, in season 1, yes, heather was ruthless, but she didn’t try to hide it. everyone knew her intentions and knew she was a threat. but alejandro, like u said, was responsible for about half of the eliminations, and yet, almost everyone didn’t know he was evil.
Yeah people who say heather is the better villain only say so because she has more screentime they like her character better lol. She def does a decent amount of not smart things. And this is coming from a heather fan
she's such a bitch to everyone, and it's not even used in a dr. will kirby kind of way, where nobody would eliminate her in that specific round when she could just be a bigger target than you if you were ever in danger. after justin's elimination her strategy is just nothing and she survives by winning immunity or not losing sudden death rounds (lindsay and dj). she's not a bumbling idiot, but the way she plays socially is so atrociously bad that in every action/world tour what if, if literally anything changes in the season she's eliminated instantly. That said, it's pretty fun to watch
Unpopular opinion, but it's actually my favourite season ever. There was constant action and drama that comes with what an adventure-like format like the Amazing Race offers, so you're not left with much moments of stiffness like you would in other seasons. It's for that reason I'd argue Ridonculous has the best replay value of any season, because you're always knee-deep with the characters' action-packed challenges in what feels like real-time circumstances what with the "race to avoid last place" formula.
Honestly Scott’s plan in Revenge made more sense than you made it out to be. Since the cast was smaller, he knew that the teams would merge sooner or later so it was much easier to sabotage his own team and blame it on one of his teammates rather than break a limb trying to win a bullshit challenge. He even at some points tried to gain sympathy or credibility from other players in the game so that when the teams eventually merged he wouldn’t be an immediate target.
Yeah, Scott can't be the second weakest villain when we look at Justin from Action or any of Pahkitew's villains if I could even count them as villains.
Scott's antagonistic approach in season four is very similar to that of real life Survivor contestant Russell Hantz. Both of them easily found the immunity idol and used it to divert votes from themselves, both of them orchestrated the eliminations of several competitors, both were the main antagonist in their debut season, both have sabotaged other competitors' personal belongings, both threw team challenges, both were placed on the Villains team in the second season they competed, both came in third place in their second season, and both were ultimately eliminated as the result of several competitors teaming up and voting them off. In addition Hantz was dubbed as one of the "most devious villains" in the show when the season was promoted. My point scott plan is based on real life person, who did the same thing
@@AsraliaX2my point is scott is sort based on real person. Who did kinda the same Thing. ( ok i am not mush reality-tv Guy ) but what i heard Russell hantz was a Guy in survivor. Who want to lose by get off his team. Like get rid of his team whatever. And point the Guy video is saying Why would he ruin his team. Because again i ment parody of real life person There are few different like Russell got like alliance, and people that he want get rid are people he demm a threat
Gwen: Mike is evil Courtney: Mike is evil Duncan: Mike is evil Alejandro: Mike is evil Video evidence: Mike is evil Mike: I’m evil. Zoe: hmm guess I’ll take you to the finale!
Dude… DUNCAN VS HAROLD FINALE WOULD’VE BEEN FREAKING SICK!!!! How did I never think of this??? It would’ve been absolutely perfect climatic finish to their rivalry
No but i dont understand why they DIDNT put harold against duncan. Beth is fine, but if its true she was just a replacement for Lindsay, HAROLD WAS RIGHT THERE???
One of Ridonculous Race's strengths was the realism. No radioactive animals, no robots, and characters grounded in reality. Reminded you of Seasons 1 and 2. Just a chill show about experiencing different cultures! I learned a heck of a lot more from it than during TDWT hehe, although Season 3 was fine in its own right. It's a shame that the Total Drama fandom fizzled out by the time they released TDRR; the crew probably won't be revisiting that leg of the franchise, despite the acclaim I've seen.
I also think another of its strengths was the 2 person team format because that way it both gives interesting/individual dynamics & personalities for each team to have so they can get a nice level of characterization (even with the early eliminations you get a general personality to them). It also lets the more exaggerated architypes not seem as annoying, like Lenord is way less annoying here because his antics only hinder himself as opposed to a larger group. Additionally they moved from just doing teen archetypes to a larger range of archetypes to chose from.
Honestly ridonculous race definitely felt more like a return to form of season 1 while keeping the flow of pace quick of later seasons but not rushed like them, saying that cause season 1 felt a bit more like a slow burn with it's pacing. The only gripe I do have with it is Devon, he just got really annoying for me even after he got over being dumped. Aside from that, solid show worth binging, 8/10.
@@Naomi-xu4hq to be fair don did say there were 26 challenges within the race for one million dollars and to meet that quota in a matter of speaking had to have 11 non elimination rounds to keep with the 26 challenges. I’m honestly fine with it cause it does give us more time with the contestants and doesn’t actually feel dragged out weirdly enough, but I do understand your qualms to it.
I think Scott is based off a real survivor contestan that actively sabotaged and manipulated his own team, managed to not get eliminated for the entire show, and when it was time for the council to decide who was gonna win the season, everybody hated him and choose the contestan with the least amount of screen time.
Russel Hantz? Can't b! Respectfully I disagree. 1. I never saw Justin as a villain. 2. He never sabotaged his team. 3. He had a heart. He was truly upset when Owen was unfairly kicked out and when his jaw was broken. Just like he was disgusted by Alejandro when he slammed Cody 2 the sharks in World Tour finals.
Alejandro pretended his legs were asleep for so long because he knew that would cause the other competitors to underestimate him, allowing him to skirt along for a large portion of the game. That always felt obvious to me
Ridonculous race had so many characters and so many amazing challanges that I honestly would love to watch you make a whole video about this one season. It's so great and not talked about enough in my opinion. I loved this ranking by the way.
Fun fact: A handful of the teams were based on actual teams and inter-team dynamics from the show it parodied, The Amazing Race. I would highly recommend watching The Amazing Race too. There's a handful of seasons from 11-17 that you'd be impressed by the chaos, characters, travel, and hilarious, surprising moments that you wouldn't be able to replicate through animation.
I feel Don has a much more professional presence then Chris did. While Chris did whatever he could to get ratings, you can tell Don is letting his charisma and the interesting locations draw people in. Which in my opinion works well.
It's a shame there was only one season of the ridonculous race. I am currently rewatching it on Netflix and I am glad to be able to after the trashy All-Stars/Pahkitew Island fifth season.
Unlike Chris٫ Don tests the challenges he creates to make sure they're possible instead of throwing a bunch of life-threatening aspects to the challenges for laughs
“It feels like there wasn’t any communication behind the scenes for what they wanted to do with Courtney” is the best way to describe her writing I’ve ever heard. I don’t even mind her being a villain or breaking up with Duncan (Scottney is pretty cute!) but the execution is…bizarre 💀 Also, I can’t fully hate ROTI Chris just for _“and if you see the skull and crossbones, we’ll dedicate this episode to you :)”_
Courtney's character got done dirty. She started out as the bossy know it all, and whenever she was allowed to ease up and cut loose, she got betrayed in some fashion. Happened in season 1 when Harold screwed her over on the votes when she JUST started having fun, World Tour she got screwed over by Duncan and Gwen going behind her back, and they were both leading her on like nothing was going on and trying to figure out how to get rid of her once she did find out. In All Stars her potential OCD did her in. Making those stupid lists and being exploited by Mal to make the remaining cast turn on her. TDA she was just the straight up antagonist. Always trying to flex with legal action against everyone isn't a respectable image. I felt bad for Courtney in season 1 and World Tour. The rest of the time she was done in by just being nasty and bitter.
Noah is my absolute favourite character. I love how throughout the Total Drama Timeline, he's able to survive longer and longer in the competitions. And yes he was one of the best characters in World Tour outside of the main rivalry
My favourite was Bridgette and it's a shame she didn't even have a cameo in The Ridonculous Race despite Kristin Fairlie being in the spin-off (as the voice of Carrie, though it was nice to see her voice someone else). I wish Bridgette had made it to at least the top 5 in one of the seasons she competed in. Her eliminations in Island and World Tour disappointed me.
You know, the good thing about Island, is that ITS ACTIALLY TEEN DRAMA. You know, getting stalked and abused is more adult than getting your diary reader by a Regina George try hard. Idk, the next season don't have that, teen feeling, island had. I can't think of examples, but duncney became WAYYYY too mature in next seasons.
i loved island i can't believe the network ruined it they wanted to make more drama but in the end they made feel like a kid comady series with to much drama
They ruined Trent and Gwen's and Duncan and Courtney's relationships because of that. I love Action and World Tour, but what happened to Trent and Courtney was unfair.
Personally, Island is definitely my second favourite. Mainly because this is the first time we see the gen 1 cast. World Tour is also tied with Island mainly because of the song gimmick. Each one is a bop, minus Chinese Lesson.
@@nathanterho-streck5546 I think it’s honestly better than world tour. Cuz In world tour some characters roles got worse like leshawna, Bridgett, Dj, Harold, Gwen, and Duncan. Speaking of Gwen and Duncan the love triangle was very unnecessary and really unlikable towards the community. Because of this reason I feel like it’s Under total drama island. Cuz In total drama island everyone’s characters was just perfect and no relationship was recked. It felt just right. But world tour does have its positivities like Noah, Tyler, heathers character development and Alejandro’s villain arc.
Also more on Heather being funny. Her and Owen on screen together was always a freaking laugh! Like when she tripped him while he was running back and fourth.
“My mom always says, ‘If you can’t say nothing nice don’t say anything at all’ - in which case Heather would say nothing ever! She is the meanest, most evil, cold-hearted **** in all of KALAMAZOO!… No offense”.
Hot take: Alejandro made a few characters look dumb to make him seem more manipulative, especially on Team Victory. Brigette fell for Al a bit too easy and my girl Leshawna was done dirty
It's certainly possible to do that but he manipulated them way too easy, especially Bridgette. If a villain has to make characters stupid to be effective, the characters are still stupid, and if anything hurts both characters' characterization and the overall plot. For example, his manipulation of Courtney was incredibly believable. Courtney had her pride shattered and was extremely mentally vulnerable, and he used the opportunity to play both Courtney, Gwen, and to an extent Duncan. I think it was possible to manipulate Bridgette into cheating, but he could have used Geoff's previous fuckups (his Action arc, the way his eyes stray sometimes like that one time in Celebrity Manhunt and the way he called Heather the hottest girl on the show) as a way to break Bridgette's trust in him down
@@k-leb4671 that was the point though, they wanted to bring her back but she got the boot early because they didnt know what to do with her. it was like that with everyone on team victory. the only person on that team that had a storyline was DJ and his animal curse and later the fight for an alliance with him from heather and alejandro
@@user-yg9vx2re3u They did all of Team Victory wrong. Except for Harold, he screwed his own self over, lol. I loved the team though. Bridgette, Leshawna, DJ and Lindsay are a great team.
Honestly, out of all the seasons I can say that I enjoyed TDWT the most. I like how they give the characters who in the first two seasons were only really there to fill development (especially Noah). My biggest problem is probably the relationships. The stuff between Duncan and Gwen feels really rushed Edit: Sierra too. She annoyed me deeply
while sierra is annoying, she did do some cool stuff. the little plot line that she was playing heather because she was a fan of the show and knew that heather was playing her was cool, and she helped my boy cody a lot as well. but yeah overall she isnt amazing or anything, and putting her in TDAS was a mistake lmao
World Tour is the best and worst season. I like Gwuncan as a ship, but the way it was handled was weird. DJ's curse was a cheap way of eliminating other characters, and Ezekiel just didn't deserve what happened to him.
Fun fact: Izzy and LINDSAY of all people were the only two people who liked Al (liked as in romance not respect) yet didn’t get eliminated by him and got eliminated by an indirect reason. (Heather doesn’t count because in some other countries, al won instead of her)
I count Heather as the official winner and its not because I saw her win first in Al's win He dropped his doll at the edge of the volcano before going to heather to gloat. Heather had her's literally right beside her she picks up his beside her. Heather deserved the win of world tour I like Al but they did his victory really bad. it was forced an given to his it looked like an alternet ending.
@@dracophoenixttv it’s not forced every season has two winners and you can create your own head cannon for who won. Non-to less barely anyone who wins actually gets the prize
@@Naomi-xu4hq Beth is a forced win hers is literally an alternet ending in action. Duncan was voted for by the fans to win they had a poll and everything he also had a special of what happened afterwords. He won by a land slide. Same with Gwen she only won in iceland I beileve. Owen won everywhere else and showcased in the special episode of total drama island. You are flat out wrong. Now with the Heather verse Al. Heathers literally made sense even though Al techincally is the offical winner but his to me looked like an alterner ending. Also cameron for revenge of the island again he is the official winner but in reverse Lightning wins in a weird way. Yes they always have 2 winners because they have 2 finalist they do that to show what it looks like if they win.
@@dracophoenixttv I actually strangely like the idea of Al still winning after all that Heather went through. It really just feels good to stick it to her after being such an immature and manipulative bitch in the previous seasons. Of course even in Al's ending, he doesn't get a good ending and no one really wins in the end, which I think is perfect for two characters who are really quite trash human beings and corrupted by fame and fortune. Plus, I always thought it made more thematic sense for Ezekiel to have the final showdown with Chris rather than Heather, and for Al to ask about the money when he became Darth Vader-parody when he was the one that actually won it rather than Heather.
I'll say it once and I'll say it again jacque and Josee are basically Jessie and James from team rocket. Jacque is like james where later on he becomes much more calmer and funnier but still evil while his partner is a psycho who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.
@@Retro_Red I thought they were a bigger threat. Team Rocket was very goofy in the earlier seasons, and Ash got so used to then, that he'd say things like "Sorry, guys, but we're kind of in a hurry" like they're little kids who want to play or something.
One of my biggest headcanons for TDA is that Trent either previously had OCD but managed to hide it, or he developed it due to being under so much mental strain, what with the love of his life becoming more distant and him being on a reality show. Most people think its weird that he's obsessed with the number 9, but I understand his struggles. He definitely shows symptoms.
i saw once someone saying that they had a headcanon for that but they said that Trent used medication in TDI but he forgot to bring his medication with him for TDA and that's why on the aftermath he was TDI Trent again
Sorry, Gwen liking Duncan was really forced and were paired together just because both have similar styles (emo and punk) compared to everyone else, it happened because of the producers, and they ruined her character by doing so, she was more on the sensitive/compassionate side and cared about people who she got along with/friends, but by being the person who Duncan cheated with on Courtney, thrashes her character and makes everyone perceive her as a villain
@@jdysbsunsbsg I'd say her derailment started in action. Island she was a good character. The network decided that the main couples established in season 1 (Gwent and Duncney) had to be broken up because there wouldn't be enough drama if they stayed together. The love triangle in WT was a product of this push from the network as well, just a little further down the line.
@@courtneyhall3031 she was bad in Island too, she tried to be a team leader and failed miserably. She has been a mess ever since total drama drama drama island
@@jdysbsunsbsg That's a character flaw, not derailment. I wouldn't say that trying and failing to lead her team makes her a bad person or a bad character. It just shows she's ambitious and likes to be in control of a situation, but that she isn't always cut out for that position. It fits her stereotype but doesn't overpower good parts of her personality. Her behavior towards Duncan in Action is taking her flaws from season 1 and blowing them out of proportion, and takes her from likable or at the very least bearable, into unlikable and hard to root for. It's one thing to be controlling of a team during a game for a million dollars. It's another to treat a boyfriend that way. You do start to see that in TDDDI, but still, not to the extent that you get in Action. It's when her negative qualities are blown out of realistic proportion that I start to have a problem with her.
One thing that really bugged me about World Tour was that we've been waiting and hoping that someone aside from Heather would see through Alejandro, and then finally we see Noah's side, that he's been aware of Al's true personality, but by the time he goes to act on it he gets eliminated. They then bring back Duncan, who apparently sees through Al as well and then they introduce the worst part of the season: the love triangle. It would've been so much more satisfying if we had had Noah's little arc in trying to convince people Al is evil and maybe the characters would finally address it too, but it's thrown off the airplane to make place for Duncan and his arc. Noah could've been much more important this season but he was gone before his arc even started. And honestly it didn't even have to be him, hell they could've given it to Sierra, Gwen, Tyler, anyone! But bringing back Duncan even if he eliminated himself was just a dumb move imo :/
Noah imo was definitely the best candidate to see through Alejandro’s schemes. He’s smart and not nearly as oblivious as other campers (or at least he should’ve have been). Due to his intelligence it made sense for him to be unaffected by any attempts of manipulation.
@@theauthor5484 As I grew older, I always hated how they got rid of Noah and Tyler for Duncan. Duncan was overrated and an asshole by the time he returned.
Being honest, Revenge of the island is underrated, the cast is solid, it's snappy with its pacing and it brought unique and well executed ideas to the table
Yeah, Revenge is sooo underrated, but I found the mutant gimmick to be WAY too far fetched, what does it even add to the story? if anything it takes away some of the reality. Total Drama is suposed to be reality show and we are suposed to root for the caracters as we find them relatable, that's why island is soo good; but take away that and we get revenge.
The antagonist wasn't that good and they got rid of dawn and that guy that doesn't speak way to early on in the show. They were honestly the best 2 competitors of the season but it is underrated. I love how they did cameos from the gen 1 cast. I also loved Dakota's character design but if it were 24 episodes instead of 12 it would've been better and for us to understand the cast more. I really like Dakota's and Sam's relationship thing, a rich hot girl (who did turn mutant) and a gamer nerd kind of guy (I'm not saying he looks bad), it would've been really nice to see their relationship grow in a 24 episode format and to see Dakota's character ark
There is one thing I like about all star. Gwen getting over Courtney and becoming friends with Mike, Cameron, and Zoey. It was nice to see her find actual good friends.
Ridonculous Race is so amazing, I'm glad it's being recognised for how absolutely great it is. The single funniest scene in the entirety of Total Drama is Ennui holding out a ring and a narwhal jumping out of the water to let them drop the ring on it, before cutting to him saying "OK, that was pure luck, but we don't have to tell them that" made me absolutely howl with laughter more than any other scene in the series.
After Pahkitew Island I had pretty much given up on the series but I was so insanely surprised by how good the Ridonculuos Race was, very pleased to see that the creators are still putting time and care into the series
Honestly TDI became better after world tour imo. This is how good i find each season to be: Excellent: RR Great: Revenge Good: TDI 2023 Decent: TDI 2007 Mediocre: TDAS Bad: TDWT Terrible TDPI, TDA
They do properly explain Bridgette's elimination in TDI. The girls split their votes 3-3 because of internal conflict. While the guys band together at 4 to get rid of the girl most likely to win the show: Bridgette ( Heather had immunity that episode). It's one of the only episodes in the series where the vote is purely strategical.
@@prouddamienstanI figured that Geoff was lying about that to save face from Bridgette. Next episode Geoff was seen crying in the confessional all morning over losing Bridgette which I assumed was because he felt guilty for her elimination.
With heather getting immunity in the chest apparently there was a scrapped scene where she looks in the key holes of the chest before anyone got to the challenge
@@Dafawfulizer Island felt full of little missed moments like that. As much as I believe it's a top 2 season, it did feel kinda broken at times. There were a lot of things that didn't really add up either because the writers were absent-minded, didn't quite know what they were doing yet, or the show just had a rough production (being the first season and all).
@@k-leb4671 in the same episode when Trent is jumping into the water for his key, Gwen has an animation glitch in the background where she swaps between her smile and her worried face a few times I only know this because I started rewatching
So Scott’s character in Season 4 was a reference to someone named Russell Hantz from Survivor - who is considered the biggest villain of Survivor. Same strategy, same reasoning. Russell went on to get 2nd and then 3rd when he returned the very next season
@@yuhyuhyuhyuhyuhyuyhuyhuy8122 At the time Russell more or less revitalized the show cause he did a lot of things that were brand new to the show. He's very obnoxious and to some extent I think the amount of spotlight he receives really hurts the rest of the cast but as a TV producer he's lightning in a bottle that you want to make good use of. There wasn't such a major villain that had the same level of notoriety since Fairplay.
To be honest he made the first season he was in the the other contestants suffered as he stole all the screen time but he was highly entertaining so it didn’t matter to me
@@yuhyuhyuhyuhyuhyuyhuyhuy8122 He's definitively one of the biggest villains of the earlier seasons. Everyone hated him because he was obnoxious and that's what makes someone a villain on these shows.
Agree with World Tour being #1. The music was surprisingly good, I enjoyed the different locations, the team setup was perfect, the interactions between players were written incredibly well and the overall plot of the season. You know you've made a good villain for the show when you end up wanting to support Heather over Al
I didn't even know there was an ending to WT where Alejandro won, I only knew about Heather's for so long, and I was happy with that because I was rooting for her at the end
I think of The caracter "Mal" in the original leanguange the name of he is "Eviel" Beacause in portuguese (I am Brasilian) Mal is Bad/evil too. I don't know of is Mal in English too.
Pahkitew Island should've come before All Stars. Then they could've had 3 different casts interacting and they could've done a great villain reveal of one of the twins being the other. Alot of missed opportunity.
This list makes me insanely happy because I remember ranting years ago that All Stars was garbage, but not many folks were agreeing with me. Ridonculous Race is so slept on. I went in with super low expectations, sure, but RR did more than blow those expectations away, it shattered them completely.
To be fair, PI's theme wasn't really about the Cree, it was roughing it in the wild. Wawanakwa was an abandoned summer camp with facilities like the cabins, bathrooms ,mess hall and in the first season they did this pretty well since the show was down to earth back then. However since they had to start fresh ,Chris just said screw it and just bought Pahkitew Island so that's why the cast had to build their own shelters and the rewards was food most of the time. This pretty much it way more similar to Survivor than most of the other seasons, but then the robot stuff happened :/
Yeah PI coulda been so much more but instead it was just filled to the brim with faulty characters and that really dumb robot island plot throughout the 13 episode span soooo oh well
Pahkitew, All Stars and Revenge all suffered from the same thing and that is they were written as only 13 episodes long. That's not enough time to build up the characters, and relationships between them. No surprise, when Ridonculous Race came along, the quality shot up substantially and was the best season since World Tour. No rushed eliminations and most of the cast had personalities as strong points instead of just stereotypical gimmicks.
About your point against Al faking his leg sleepiness, I do think there's valid reason behind it. Alejandro pretends that his legs were useless the entire time so the other contestants don't see him as a threat. He can't be viewed as a physical powerhouse by the others as long as they think he's not up to 100% strength and it helps them see him as an insignificant player. He uses this to his advantage to make it further as long as they think he's an easy out, and finally reveals he can walk once the power shifted in the game. It was an act he used to skate further into the game, especially if the rival villains thought he was weaker than them.
OK but if I was in a season with him and saw him doing the stuff I was doing *ON HIS HANDS* I wouldn't see him as weak, but as a strong competitor and a huge threat
@@Britishdarnlib I thought it was more like he's only at half strength capacity. The other villains likely saw him as an easy out if they ever lost a huge physical contest. They could always turn on him since they think he's not at 100%.
Basic run-down: Island: Realistic parody with likeable and hatable characters Action: Funnest merge in the series, rarely any elimination episodes World Tour: Best villains and great teams, non-eliminations galore ROTI: Boring merge, but fun cast overall, despite being less realistic All Stars: Terrible villain, so many derailed characters, finale should have been Courtney and Scott Pahkitew Island: Insane characters, funny at times, but super wacky Ridonculous Race: Great dynamics, fun challenges, but too many non-eliminations
I was pleasantly surprised to know ridiculous race made it to number 2 on his list. I couldn't pick between the original and RR but I'm pretty happy overall with the placings, it's nice to know someone shares views even though I know I'd get flamed by people who are nostalgic
ridonculous race actually makes me very hyped, everytime I get dropped off the bus infront of my home, rush to the tv, turn on cartoon network, and watch it in my uniform. love that its getting respected. havent been that hyped for a tv show in a long time.
Something I want to point out about Lindsay and Beth is that you can say that the change that they had in their characters in TDA is that they actually learned a lesson from being tricked by Heather (that´s why Lindsay tries to be more of a leader instead of just be mindlessly following orders from others and also why Beth doesn´t fall for Courtney´s fake attempt of friendship and makes her suffer before agreeing to an alliance with her). Even Heather admits that they became more worthy contestants when she was put in the lie detector.
And in Lindsay's case, she was a fun character in Island and all, but Action REALLY helped push her into a top tier character in the series for me, and my personal favorite girl in that season (best boy there being Harold) Not only is her stepping up into a leadership position a natural progression of her story after Island, and an interesting one, but it also paints her as someone who isn't JUST a moron. She's not as smart as others, that's clear, but she's perfectly capable of discovering her OWN form of what intelligence is. Rules that apply to HER and help out HER, stuff that makes sense to HER that helps lead others, even they don't understand, and even if she's not always right, she's capable of BEING right with this logic, even if it was just one time. It's why I don't consider Lindsay to be THE dumbest Total Drama character, because of this development. And then we never got that version of Lindsay again because she was hardly in the show after that (I mean, I guess she got something in World Tour with Tyler, but not saying too much) I really hope we do get her to come back AS her Island and Action self, not necessarily becoming a genius at the end or anything like that, (cause that'd make NO sense) but someone who can operate on logic that makes sense to her and her only.
I would actually wanna see a prequel show of what Cris was like before Total Drama. That would legit be interesting cause after watch world tour as a kid I started to catch on that cris might have been hiding something. And the more I thought about it I was left with more questions then answers.
I think the Pahkitew cast becomes more enjoyable when you fully understand the different approach they took with the character writing. Like for example Amy and Samey's relationship being an accurate yet exaggerate representation of toxic siblings, Sugar's antagonism being based on the beauty pageant mean girl who does some quick sabotages to the others to make them more insecure and take advantage of that rather than an actual reality TV show antagonist or Dave being a self-destructive character (although he's still bad) and Sky just has to survive that.
as someone who witnessed and tried to help multiple people with abusing families, I was so surprised to see how much amy and samey's story resembled these people.
I think Sugar would've been funnier and more threatening if she went harder on the spitefully determined beauty pageant queen angle. There was a bit of it with her interactions with Ella, but in the end it felt more like she just hated Ella because Ella was annoying (which she was). There's some shows that portray the greedy and spiteful showgirl quite well, such as Cats Don't Dance, which I think Total Drama should've borrowed from. Sugar should've been the vindictive version of Dakota with the humour of Owen (well, the good parts of his humour anyway), yet the writing never got as good as either of those characters. It also would've been funny if her pageant queen aesthetic became more and more worn out the longer the season went on, due the fact that she's in the wild and has no cosmetic facilities, and she slowly became more insane and venomous due to her unmaintainable looks which she believes are the only thing driving her future in life.
Finally! Yes I’m tired of people pretending that Pahkitew is somehow worse than the season that actively undermined and ruined established characters. Pahkitew has a lot of problems, but at least it didn’t actively mock the audience for even being invested in the show to begin with.
Imo I think all stars was more enjoyable then pahtikew island even though they ruined the majority of the cast the cast in pahtikew was pretty underwhelming besides shawn and jasmine
6:47 Scarlett. Mal was at least built up over most of the season, while Scarlett just happened to turn evil for one episode, and one episode ONLY. Plus, while Mal wasn’t executed fairly well, at least it was a good idea. Having a villain for only one episode just isn’t very smart. AND, while the defeat is pretty shit, also despite the continuity error, it was pretty fun to watch.
I can slightly agree with you there. Scarlett could've been a better villain if: A) She had been established earlier as evil to the audience, but not to anyone else, and was a known manipulator with her smarts and inventions. B) She was the main antagonist and swapped Sugar to a secondary antagonist so the whole 'Sugar not being a huge threat' thing isn't a big deal as, to the contestants, she *is* the big threat, but the audience knows Scarlett is much more dangerous. C) She wasn't as cartoonishly evil as shown (e.g. no 'I AM EVIL! AHAHAHAHAHA!!), or it could be worked to her advantage as she slowly loses her cool the more she's around Max and basically goes insane. Still, I don't really like either Mal or Scarlett. Mal was pathetic and kinda forgettable to me, and Scarlett was the same considering her poor implementation. Scarlett had hope with better implementation, and Mal... well, it would've been better if he'd not existed at all.
@@tigertempertantrum6573 They kinda did establish her as a villain early on, just not to the extent of the cartoony villain. But what I hate about how the writers handled Scarlett was that earlier on in the show was that she had a good plan at the beginning of the show. Tricking Max by having him do all "villain" work while she faked her innocence and whenever her team lost, Max would take the fall.
I always thought Zoey's naivety in All-Stars was more wishful thinking than actual stupidity. Zoey wants so much not to believe in Mal that she convinces herself that it's not him. So she's actually shutting her own logic out of her mind. She knows Mal is real and present, but has convinced herself of not knowing that.
@@shesjustafrienduhhafriend8655 Well, Zoey doesn't know that's what she's doing. Subtext is so important. I also took into account her earlier development.
To mention something about Scott’s strategy, there was one reason he was completely safe until he was found out- was the fact he was immune from elimination
The one thing about ridonculous race is that when a team makes a big character development, like the father and sone, it is the same episode that they are eliminated
Yeah it got kinda predictable after a while, and I feel like they had too many non-elimination episodes in the later part of the season when there weren't many players left.
Mal's plotline in all stars is probably the reason everyone hates Mike. Well, that and Mike is misrepresented, but mal makes the misrepresentation worse.
I dont know how to say it mal just feels kinda eugh to me it's like It feels like slight demonisation? Of the disorder and that idk how to explain it i just don't like when people do 'evil personality heeheeoo...'
@@devilishsmiles yeah like you cant just make a personality disappear completely with a literal push of a button,, i think they could've tried better with the whole DID thing- their audience was basically kids and they shouldn't have made an evil personality thing considering they could have used mike as an opportunity to try safely introduce them to DID, though they obviously shoved the word DID onto him for the ' haha multiple personality funny xDD' thing
I think the problem with chris was that the new writers that replaced the old ones from ROTI onwards didn't know how to write chris. They just saw that he was sadistic and went with that. It annoys me because chris is my favorite character in Total drama. The scene that cemented that was when he used a real pistol instead of a prop one, proceeded to shoot an eagle out of the air then said " That's gonna promote some angry emails" I always laugh at that scene
I'm so glad someone else actually appreciates Sugar, I mean she's not my favorite of the season but she's so much better a character than everyone makes her out to be considering her great comedic potential
World Tour is my favorite too. The songs are constantly stuck in my head, and Cody was my favorite in the first season, so I LOVED seeing him get more screentime
I've gotta say, I'm impressed. Total Drama is starting to fade into obscurity. There might be plans of future seasons I've heard, but it's been quite awhile since there was new content. The fanbase is starting to become niche. So, to make such a LONG video about it at the end of 2021, when there's not much of a trend going on, takes balls. But I'm glad. We needed a solid ranking. And honestly, this ranking was perfect. It holds up, and remains very true to the general consensus. I think Season 1 is the uncontested winner, but that's just me, your reasoning was quite sound. You have my unending respect for ranking Ridonculous Race as #2. After season after season of crappy writing, Ridonculous Race REALLY turned things around with excelling screenwriting. They really respected their audience. I felt the same joy and anticipation as I felt all those years ago watching Season 1 for the first time.
Yeah two new seasons are confirmed for the future, I hope they make a season 2 of Ridonculous Race, it’s a super fun change of pace but still similar to Total Drama
I feel like the Total Drama fandom is actually picking up a lot of speed these days. There's been several long videos uploaded about the show in the past couple of years.
"Sabotaging your own team constantly is just a dumb idea" - Somebody force Russell Hantz to watch this season please. Scott is basically just teenage Russell
When I first watched all stars, I didn’t think it was that bad. I thought they would make Gwen and Courtney would be in the finals because they were fighting over Duncan. I wish they would have kept the gwuncan thing going more than two episodes though. They could have added different characters from tdi and tdwt.
I would actually like to know what Chris was like before the whole reality show host job happened. He could have even been this lovable and generous guy that respected just about everyone around him and called out people on their BS..but as a host, he just descended into madness and started to respect people less and less in the sake for money and views
I actually heard that a deleted scene exists were heather looked through the keyholes of the chest before opening it so she knew which to pick a guarantee invincibility
I have DID, and while the Mal button thing was a cool concept if you consider it just "a concept", like, the button is more philosophical than real, it's Mike dealing with his trauma and destroying his bad self, I still think it was VERY badly portrayed and made the disorder look like the "serial killer justification" disorder (just like Split did)
I don't have DID (so I don't want to claim that I know everything about the disorder) but yeah I have to agree with in concept of the button is a cool idea and based on philosophy that he has to deal with his trauma (whatever the trauma he went through, I don't think it was clear what trauma he went through so I'm assuming he had a terrible upbringing) but the execution of it could been handled a lot better if you know what I mean
Agreed. Honestly I didn't care to watch new characters for Total Drama seasons, including season 4 even though I warmed up to it and most of the characters. Ridonculous Race did so good with a completely new cast while having only 3 of the original ones.
Here's my hot take: Rank 7: TDAS: This season derailed so many characters, with Duncan taking the worst of it. Rank 6: TDPI. Never even cared about those guys. Rank 5: TDROTI. Nothing can replace the original cast. Nothing. Rank 4: TDA. Good ideas. Great finale. Did Duncan justice here. Beats All-Stars to the ground. Rank 3: TDWT. Alejandro you charming bastard. Rank 2: TRR. Don was a good host (and willing to call out the cheaters). But Chris is the host, with the most. Also the realism helped out, putting it in line with Seasons 1&2. Rank 1: TDI. You can't beat the original. Ever.
>Nothing can replace the original cast. Nothing. Yet TRR is up there as one of the best seasons. They got that close to get as good as the original cast. But that's the problem with TRR's format, a lot of cannon fodder too.
I hate how Brick was never used again and we barely got any screen time with him. I liked his arc so much plus he had a lot of potential and hilarious moments. edit: spelling xd
World Tour is the best because it was a full Heather season, full stop. Yes, there were other aspects to it, but Heather was a stand out on season 1 and didn’t get much to shine on season 2. World Tour have her so much more to work with and with so much character development, she actually became such a person to root for which was so much fun!!! It was the best season.
Ridonculus race was a personal favorite for me because they went for a new approach going for the around the world race with new fun characters instead of the dull island alot of the characters and places were great and unique
Season 5 vs 6 to me is like danganronpa's third cases in 2 and v3, it really depends on what you hate more, whether you dislike missed opportunities or something that's just not that good overall. That being said, if they wanted to treat Chris like monokuma, they could have at least gone the full mile. Maybe the whole gimmick of season 6 could be that it's all artificial but the cast doesn't know it's artificial, just the audience. I'm not saying they should make chris a full blown mastermind that the cast has to defeat or have some kind of meta commentary, but it's so stupid to me how Chris gets worse and worse yet he's treated the same way he was in season 1. Either way, the low episode count and revealing it so late just killed whatever potential this gimmick had.
That's an interesting way of putting it; when it comes to Danganronpa, 3-3 was the worst of the two for me due to the wasted opportunity, yet with Total Drama I hated Pahkitew more as it was a really painful season to watch (I got some intrigue/interest out of All Star, I'm not afraid to admit that)
in the long run I feel like personally, Izzy might be the best "villain" of the series, if you take into account the possible theories after analyzing her character and why she does what she does. Idk the whole Izzy being an actual "mastermind" or a genius under the crazy persona she puts up just really appeals to me and makes a lot of sense after rewatching the show's seasons that she appears on.
The one opportunity I'm pissed they didn't do anything was about was Zombie Ezekiel he had a good opportunity especially with dawn being able to speak to animals and Zeke being one I thought he could of had a chance to remdime himself and maybe win
At some point, I got depressed watching Total Drama. I tried to find some happiness in watching TDWT, but with how it ended (and with how TDROTI started) I felt like there was no return. And it felt like that for six more years. Until Ridonculous Race. It made me feel like a kid. I was happy. And it was nice. And Total DramaRama was announced, and we all plummeted to hell…..
@@CarpettinginMotel.townson I mean I feel like this will be the make or break, will they learn from Ridonculous Race, or will they keep going with the season rot.
As an ex member of the TD fandom and former podcast owner of the TD podcast here is my ranking. ranking (best to worst) 1. TDI 2. TDWT (if it wasn't for the love triangle it would be tied) 3. TDROTI (great restart of the series imo) 4. TDRR 5. TDA 6. TDAS 7. TDPI I don't count this but... -100. Total dramarama
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Okay what would have been -98 all the way up to 8? And in all seriousness, how would you have handle the Daycare Aspect if it would have been an official Total Drama?
In my opinion….had they kept the name Daycare…I think we can make the concept but make it in line with the series. - Take 22 Kids (Age 5 - 12) - Have them be Watched Over/Mentored By characters that have competed (Island - Ridinculous Race) - Make kid capable versions of the iconic challenges - Bring back specific character archetypes for characters of the series, but with a Kid Twist, as long as introducing archetypes for kids. - And who knows if you were to make a new Season of Total Drama you can introduce aged-up characters in the series.
Watching this after seeing the new season and I can say it blew my expectations out of the water. I’d definitely rank it behind island but ahead of action. Also I 100% agree with this list.
At the end of the day-in Hawaiian Punch. The way everyone was able to chose and cheer for heather, a antagonist for so long, and just an absolutely petty person over Alejandro, is so awesome
my favourite is either The Ridonculos Race or World Tour i just love the father son team they have some depth and juniors just down to earth and relatable. Dwayne is funny and wholesome and honestly just a good triagonist team
One of the things you discussed was the possibility of Chris being a nice person before going insane running the show. While Geoff is shown returning to his old self, this was due to the actions and direct influence of Bridgette. Perhaps Chris could have been saved too, however, he just didn’t have anyone in his life who cared for him like Bridgette did Geoff. It’s really quite sad when you think about it, the lack of love in his life caused him to go insane, when he could have been saved from this by just having someone who cared enough to help. Maybe not true, I dunno man.
11:38 I will DIE on the hill that if they kept topher’s personality but changed the trope from Chris wannabe to theatre kid, his character would be 85% better
Yeah surprisingly there wasn't really a "theatre kid" stereotype in all of Total Drama. I knew many of kids in high school who fit a particular kind of drama-related mold. They had a weird flamboyance to them as if they were always trying to practice their acting abilities outside of class, and had major dreams about theatre stardom. I guess Dakota came close.
One complaint that I have about the Ridonculous Race is how many non-elimination rounds there were. It seemed like they were trying to keep people in just so that they could have more content. Althoguh I think that they did this well, it just felt forced. I think that the Best Friends' elimination was just so that they could get the Surfers back in and to keeep the Sisters without getting the Cadets and the Ice Dancers out.
I kind of like how Beth won Season 2. I'm sure none of us were expecting HER to win when first watching, so it's kind of a testament to the unpredictability of reality TV shows. Also, Beth making it to the finale IS kind of realistic - despite her lack of skill, no one saw her as a threat and she didn’t make too many enemies. She kind of winged her way to the finale with no one noticing, including the audience. An element of surprise! I’m sure we can all agree that we can’t just have the most likable (fan favorite) characters making it to the finale - that’s too obvious! That’s why Mike and Zoey making it to the end of season 5 was BS!!! In Season 3, who could have suspected that HEATHER, the villain, would win? That Heather, the OG villain, would face off against the NEW villain. Two villains in the finale? Unpredictable!!! So, Beth, an obvious NON-fan-favorite making it to the finale with Duncan made for a big surprise, which I think is super charming. Beth also deserved it. For the amount of ridicule she suffered over the seasons, it was endearing seeing something good happen to her. Beth isn't the best character and I can understand why she isn't most peoples' favorites, but I wouldn't have Season 2 end any other way. And yes, I'm glad Duncan was the winner/runner-up, depending on the country.
True, but I think I would have liked her winning better if the season pointed out what your saying, it doesn’t have to be obvious, it’s just that the only scenes she was in didn’t say much about her character, as for Heather and Alejandro, yes I was surprised but they were established well in the season which is why I like it, and Beth wasn’t given time to shine
I never thought about it like that until I read this, and while I do believe it is a very good take on the show I wish they hadn't chosen the winner the way they did. Duncan being friends with Beth and then having a tie at the end really destroyed Duncans whole villain persona for me but I was definitely shocked when Beth made it to the finale
I agree 100% it was shocking cause no would predict it and it’s better that way people like being shocked so Beth making to the final works really well even if you don’t like her
30:03 there’s also another great instance of this in an earlier episode when she read Gwen’s diary. It would have gotten her eliminated immediately if not for plot armor
I really love how in depth you were over each season. You gave good explanations over the good and bad aspects of each one. I definitely agree with most of the points you made. Your list was also so close to mine. My top 3 are TDI, TDWT, and RR. The rest are the same as yours.
I thought Beth was inadvertently implying that Chris was the person who dropped the other ice skater.
I never noticed that
The ice dancers mentioned that they fell at the Olympics, but Trent said it was a show and Beth confirmed my saying that they got immunity which you can’t get at the Olympics.
I know I could have tweeted her, but I wanted to tell this to her face because:
I hope I can find at least one former cast member who would be willing to give me a chance for an

Unpopular opinion: Lindsay swearing out Heather in TDI was a lot funnier censored with massive bleeps. I imagined how many swears she used as a kid and it was great.
I agree
Afaik that is far from an unpopular opinion lol
The bleeps are the original version

While most if not all of these contestants fought with each other at one point or another, this scene emphasised the familial feeling they somehow seemed to share deep down.

she's such a bitch to everyone, and it's not even used in a dr. will kirby kind of way, where nobody would eliminate her in that specific round when she could just be a bigger target than you if you were ever in danger. after justin's elimination her strategy is just nothing and she survives by winning immunity or not losing sudden death rounds (lindsay and dj). she's not a bumbling idiot, but the way she plays socially is so atrociously bad that in every action/world tour what if, if literally anything changes in the season she's eliminated instantly.

The Ridonculous Race is so underrated. I'm glad more people are giving it the respect it deserves.
Yeah its definitely underrated

Honestly Scott’s plan in Revenge made more sense than you made it out to be. Since the cast was smaller, he knew that the teams would merge sooner or later so it was much easier to sabotage his own team and blame it on one of his teammates rather than break a limb trying to win a bullshit challenge. He even at some points tried to gain sympathy or credibility from other players in the game so that when the teams eventually merged he wouldn’t be an immediate target.
Yeah, Scott can't be the second weakest villain when we look at Justin from Action or any of Pahkitew's villains if I could even count them as villains.
I feel like Scott is one of the better characters

I wish Dakota and Sam were a team though
Honestly ridonculous race definitely felt more like a return to form of season 1 while keeping the flow of pace quick of later seasons but not rushed like them, saying that cause season 1 felt a bit more like a slow burn with it's pacing. The only gripe I do have with it is Devon, he just got really annoying for me even after he got over being dumped. Aside from that, solid show worth binging, 8/10.

Can't b!

“It feels like there wasn’t any communication behind the scenes for what they wanted to do with Courtney” is the best way to describe her writing I’ve ever heard. I don’t even mind her being a villain or breaking up with Duncan (Scottney is pretty cute!) but the execution is…bizarre 💀
Also, I can’t fully hate ROTI Chris just for _“and if you see the skull and crossbones, we’ll dedicate this episode to you :)”_
Yeah, I agree. Her arc in the first season was great, but then, after the second season, she became an asshole for no reason, it felt so weird
What OCD? She's just really organised
I prefer Duncan x Courtney better!

They ruined Trent and Gwen's and Duncan and Courtney's relationships because of that. I love Action and World Tour, but what happened to Trent and Courtney was unfair.

Hot take: Alejandro made a few characters look dumb to make him seem more manipulative, especially on Team Victory.
Brigette fell for Al a bit too easy and my girl Leshawna was done dirty
true, but i think it was meant to show how well his charms work on everyone
It's certainly possible to do that but he manipulated them way too easy, especially Bridgette. If a villain has to make characters stupid to be effective, the characters are still stupid, and if anything hurts both characters' characterization and the overall plot.
For example, his manipulation of Courtney was incredibly believable. Courtney had her pride shattered and was extremely mentally vulnerable, and he used the opportunity to play both Courtney, Gwen, and to an extent Duncan.
I think it was possible to manipulate Bridgette into cheating, but he could have used Geoff's previous fuckups (his Action arc, the way his eyes stray sometimes like that one time in Celebrity Manhunt and the way he called Heather the hottest girl on the show) as a way to break Bridgette's trust in him down
Man, Leshawna in World Tour sucked, outside her beatdown on Heather (however contradictory it was).
@@k-leb4671 that was the point though, they wanted to bring her back but she got the boot early because they didnt know what to do with her. it was like that with everyone on team victory. the only person on that team that had a storyline was DJ and his animal curse and later the fight for an alliance with him from heather and alejandro

My biggest problem is probably the relationships. The stuff between Duncan and Gwen feels really rushed
Edit: Sierra too. She annoyed me deeply
Ezekiel was bullied in world tour tbh, and the writers made him feral probably to just upset fans of him.
while sierra is annoying, she did do some cool stuff. the little plot line that she was playing heather because she was a fan of the show and knew that heather was playing her was cool, and she helped my boy cody a lot as well. but yeah overall she isnt amazing or anything, and putting her in TDAS was a mistake lmao
World Tour is the best and worst season.
I like Gwuncan as a ship, but the way it was handled was weird. DJ's curse was a cheap way of eliminating other characters, and Ezekiel just didn't deserve what happened to him.

It really just feels good to stick it to her after being such an immature and manipulative bitch in the previous seasons. Of course even in Al's ending, he doesn't get a good ending and no one really wins in the end, which I think is perfect for two characters who are really quite trash human beings and corrupted by fame and fortune.

It wasnt the producers it was the network the one that forced it
Courtney was ruined long before the love triangle lol

Yeah PI coulda been so much more but instead it was just filled to the brim with faulty characters and that really dumb robot island plot throughout the 13 episode span soooo oh well
Also, Chris McLean was even more insane in Pahkitew Island than he ever was in Total Drama Island.
He uses this to his advantage to make it further as long as they think he's an easy out, and finally reveals he can walk once the power shifted in the game. ridonculous race actually makes me very hyped, everytime I get dropped off the bus infront of my home, rush to the tv, turn on cartoon network, and watch it in my uniform. love that its getting respected. havent been that hyped for a tv show in a long time.
@@analyzgolden7774
Lindsay was 100% meant to make the final in Action, which kinda sucks for that season tbh
@@Duval-In-The-Wall she wasn't
I get that. And Jasmine and Shawn are actually some of my favorites characters in the franchise.
as someone who witnessed and tried to help multiple people with abusing families, I was so surprised to see how much amy and samey's story resembled these people.
But in the end it was very bad because there still gonna fight and Sammy lost
@@ultimatederek1815 Sammy learns how to standout to Amy she definitely didn't lose
15:29 omg. If in the new season, Chris says “It’s Punishment Time!” Before an elimination, I’m going to lose my mind in more than one way.
Me too
dear god i can hear him saying it
Who else would LOVE to see Chris and Chef be on the same team in the Ridonolus race
B and Dawn could make a comeback aswell, the two were shown to be very friendly towards eachother in Revenge of the Island
Finally! Yes I’m tired of people pretending that Pahkitew is somehow worse than the season that actively undermined and ruined established characters. Pahkitew has a lot of problems, but at least it didn’t actively mock the audience for even being invested in the show to begin with.
*Cries in Duncan (WHYYYY)
Gwen, Heather, Alejandro...
F*****g everyone has been derailed actually*
Its EQUALLY as bad as all-stars in my opinion
Imo I think all stars was more enjoyable then pahtikew island even though they ruined the majority of the cast the cast in pahtikew was pretty underwhelming besides shawn and jasmine
I always thought they were equally bad for different reasons.
Scarlett could've been a better villain if:
A) She had been established earlier as evil to the audience, but not to anyone else, and was a known manipulator with her smarts and inventions.
I agree. Aside from her promo audition video, there is absolutely no evidence pointing towards her villainy. Third worse villain is Sugar.
Who the hell is Scarlett

Did you know?:In Ridonculous Race Anne Maria could be seen in the background of the New York City episode and they also use chris' interns many times.
That makes sense but they should of explained that in the show so people wouldn’t think she was being stupid

Of Mike
To mention something about Scott’s strategy, there was one reason he was completely safe until he was found out- was the fact he was immune from elimination
I mean he is sort based on real person
To be fair i don’t think Russel was like yeah i want to on purpose to simple kick off me team. And get immunity
all stars is my favorite but like other people, im not gonna say "im unsubscribing because you hate it" type thing. i respect it
Respectfully how is it ur favorite
@Julia_on_top yeah
The one thing about ridonculous race is that when a team makes a big character development, like the father and sone, it is the same episode that they are eliminated
Yeah it got kinda predictable after a while, and I feel like they had too many non-elimination episodes in the later part of the season when there weren't many players left.

Same for island lol
Mal's plotline in all stars is probably the reason everyone hates Mike. Well, that and Mike is misrepresented, but mal makes the misrepresentation worse.
Or at least Mike isn't a well loved character like gwen, Duncan or even Heather
I dont know how to say it mal just feels kinda eugh to me it's like
It feels like slight demonisation? Of the disorder and that idk how to explain it i just don't like when people do 'evil personality heeheeoo...'
@@Freshieroleplays yeah, especially with the whole getting beaten via a button thing.
@@devilishsmiles yeah like you cant just make a personality disappear completely with a literal push of a button,,
i think they could've tried better with the whole DID thing- their audience was basically kids and they shouldn't have made an evil personality thing considering they could have used mike as an opportunity to try safely introduce them to DID, though they obviously shoved the word DID onto him for the ' haha multiple personality funny xDD' thing
MIKE DESERVES TO BE LOVED HE IS UNIC CARACTER I JUST WISH MAL COULD BE WRITTEN BETTER
It felt like Alejandro is what they tried to make Justin in Action but failed
Yeah there’s plans for another season idk when it releases tho
Yeah two new seasons are confirmed for the future, I hope they make a season 2 of Ridonculous Race, it’s a super fun change of pace but still similar to Total Drama
I feel like the Total Drama fandom is actually picking up a lot of speed these days. There's been several long videos uploaded about the show in the past couple of years.
"Sabotaging your own team constantly is just a dumb idea" - Somebody force Russell Hantz to watch this season please. Scott is basically just teenage Russell
Yeah that is part he is missing, is scott is sort parody of Russell hantz.
@moonbased7796 absolutely. For a better DID example, watch Moon Knight, THAT is a perfectly written DID life
Seeing all this praise for Ridonculous Race makes me happy, I always thought it got too little attention for how good it was.
Agreed. Honestly I didn't care to watch new characters for Total Drama seasons, including season 4 even though I warmed up to it and most of the characters. Ridonculous Race did so good with a completely new cast while having only 3 of the original ones.
Yes!! RR is so good!! I love it!!
RR is٫ in my opinion٫ better than island and world tour
Here's my hot take:
Rank 7: TDAS: This season derailed so many characters, with Duncan taking the worst of it.
Ever.
Drew Nelson should have refused to voice TDAS Duncan honestly :')
YES
NOTHING
N O T H I N G
CAN BEAT THE ORIGINAL
N O T H I N G !
>Nothing can replace the original cast. Nothing.
Yet TRR is up there as one of the best seasons. They got that close to get as good as the original cast.
But that's the problem with TRR's format, a lot of cannon fodder too.
Actually, you CAN beat the original cast.
Just grab them by the waists like handlebars, and jam them into things until they're beaten!
You did a good job with this one Scott!! :)
I hate how Brick was never used again and we barely got any screen time with him. I liked his arc so much plus he had a lot of potential and hilarious moments.
edit: spelling xd
Like he was going to be on all star but what cut.
I love Monokuma too! Thanks for the vid, it was super fun!
As soon as I started watching danganronpa, Chris is like monokuma but abuse instead of murder
3-3 is good 😤😤
(Although I'm biased since I love kiyo and himiko)
@@JlBUNROCK 3-3 is just wasted potential
That's an interesting way of putting it; when it comes to Danganronpa, 3-3 was the worst of the two for me due to the wasted opportunity, yet with Total Drama I hated Pahkitew more as it was a really painful season to watch (I got some intrigue/interest out of All Star, I'm not afraid to admit that)
Literally PI would’ve been leagues better if they just went all the way and made Chris the antagonist
in the long run I feel like personally, Izzy might be the best "villain" of the series, if you take into account the possible theories after analyzing her character and why she does what she does.
And Total DramaRama was announced, and we all plummeted to hell…..

for me the worst is either All-Stars (because of mal, the horrible writing, and missed opretunity) or TotalDramarama (Very meh imo)
In my opinion….had they kept the name Daycare…I think we can make the concept but make it in line with the series.
- Take 22 Kids (Age 5 - 12)
- Have them be Watched Over/Mentored By characters that have competed (Island - Ridinculous Race)
- Make kid capable versions of the iconic challenges
- Bring back specific character archetypes for characters of the series, but with a Kid Twist, as long as introducing archetypes for kids.

The terminology of beef meatballs is actually much funnier when it hard-cuts to the crying bull, we all know what it means
Topher was like the only good part of season, rest were forgettable
oml the hamilton references if that happened-
One complaint that I have about the Ridonculous Race is how many non-elimination rounds there were.
When I watched season 2 Duncan won lol
I agree 100% it was shocking cause no would predict it and it’s better that way people like being shocked so Beth making to the final works really well even if you don’t like her
Duncan won for me and I’m glad cause I hate beth so much
I like how this guy doesn’t give a totally rude heartless criticism, and instead always sprinkles a hint of bright side to it
30:03 there’s also another great instance of this in an earlier episode when she read Gwen’s diary. It would have gotten her eliminated immediately if not for plot armor
The 'Meatballs' joke always got me as a kid, because I connected the crying bull, with the word balls lol
I really love how in depth you were over each season. You gave good explanations over the good and bad aspects of each one. I definitely agree with most of the points you made. Your list was also so close to mine. My top 3 are TDI, TDWT, and RR. The rest are the same as yours.
