My first time watching Fire in the Sky (1993). Is it true? Is it a hoax? Is it something we just can't explain? Regardless of what you believe, the story of Travis Walton is certainly an interesting one to watch unfold. I hope you enjoyed my Fire in the Sky movie reaction & commentary

I love this movie and actually live close to where the events took place. There have been many sightings in Arizona, including the Phoenix lights, which is well documented. I myself have seen some unexplained events here. Regarding what Travis Walton said about the movie, I have a documentary where he is interviewed quite extensively. He said the abduction scene was a little off, but the places it was changed he said captured visually to the audience exactly what he was feeling.

Glad you found it interesting. Unfortunately, the movie is very "hollywood" in its portrayal of events. Travis Walton himself has said he wishes a real movie would be made to tell the story accurately. The basic events and characters depicted here are correct, but the manner in which they are depicted is very, very off. If you are interested in this subject or related subjects, just go watch the documentaries and interviews. They're more engaging than any movie anyway.

I watched this movie as a young child and it gave me a decade+ long phobia of alien abduction AND left me squeamish about eyes until this very day. While I was always a horror fan, no other movie had ever given me a lingering fear, but because this one is based on a real account AND because the whole alien thing is a huge, impossible-to-disprove unknown, if felt like a very real threat to me for years. At any rate, great video here and so glad you watched this!

Similar story for me. I had a unreasonable fear of Alien abduction. I used to have dreams about "greys" when I was a kid all the time. I was 12 when this came out and I went and saw it. I was both terrified and intrigued by Alien abduction movies. This movie scared the shit out of me because it was so real. Most of the movie makes you think it is a murder mystery. It being a "true story" helped me though most of the movie because I assumed that it was going to turn out the killed Travis. Then he comes back and then that flashback scene was just......absolutely paralyzing for me. I could not look away and I didn't make a sound.
This fear lasted all the way until my late 20's. I am 42 now and for the most part don't have those dreams anymore. I occasionally will get that chill up my spine if i see the classic "Grey" design. That was the thing. No other space Aliens bothered me. Just the "greys"

"What the hell is that all about?"
Fun Fact: The real Travis Walton and Dana Walton make cameo appearances in the scene where the townspeople discuss what to do about Travis' disappearance.
Elliott's Epic Return Fact: The second movie Henry Thomas (Greg Hayes) starred in about extraterrestrial life. The first is his famous performance as Elliot in E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982).
Historical Fact: Although they pass lie detector tests, not a single shred of supporting evidence has ever been found to support their claims. Those "lie detector" tests can be cheated and is not admissible as fact. Despite the movie's epic alien abduction scenes, they bear no resemblance to Travis Walton's actual claims. Screenwriter Tracy Tormé reported that executives found Walton's account boring and insisted on the changes.

I live in Portland, and I go camping in the Cascades all the time. I hate seeing people missing the point -- big campers, all the creature comforts, loud stereos and TV's, Football on Sundays, kids riding bikes around -- because I'm trying to get closer to nature, not carry the suburbs into the woods. So I usually go "boondocking" as it's called, taking my van off onto hunter's trails a bit, finding a stream and a place to put a van. Sometimes I'll hike into the bush a bit or up an established trail, to make camp.
Either way, there are moments when the night goes silent. The wind may blow, rain may drip, but the creature noises disappear. I don't know what that is, but it's definitely scary. I've seen herds of elk and deer, walked among them. I know there are bear and cougar and bobcat, a couple of repatriated wolves now, but I've barely ever seen tracks or scat. There are lots of different animals, and you can hear them move around in the forest at night, catch their eye shine with a flashlight. I've had what I believe are a couple of bigfoot encounters (no sightings), also scary, but there's a feeling of territoriality and animal nature. But I don't know what makes the forest go quiet. It's always scary, too, unnatural seeming. It's like the whole place holds its breath. Sometimes it lasts minutes. It unnerves me when it goes on and on. My best guess is something big sneaking around, maybe another person, yet that doesn't seem to fit. On still nights you can hear everything go quiet for as far as you can hear, not just a local patch of forest. I really don't know what it is. This movie always makes me remember that.

Hola!😊I grew up in SW PDX,native Oregonian here and like you I don't like it when some take the city into the forest. We have some of the most breath taking natural beauty in our state and some ppl really ruin that.
The quiet you speak of, the eerie silence...have you ever heard of Dogmen? As crazy as it sounds...the sightings grow and some here in Oregon. Each encounter share how silent things get when that Apex predator is near...just a theory...maybe I've been enjoying the youtube channel Dogman Encounters too much!😂

    • @willcool713
      @willcool713 ปีที่แล้ว

@@spooniesworld Yeah, I don't know what it is. Like the forest holding its breath. Definitely makes me wonder what sort of death is prowling. In the legend as I know it, the Dogmen were a Spirit Nation, a lost warrior tribe, but ephemeral now, except sometimes. And they sometimes wore coyote, wolf, or dog skulls, or hides. The reasons they show up seem murky, too many conflicting theories. The sightings traditionally are taken as positive omens. There's only trouble when they become substantial, the spirits are supposed to be benevolent somehow.

You're not old enough to remember seeing this story in the newspapers. It's a true story, but as always is the case, people regard the victims as delusional. The abductors don't show up on the late show saying, "Yes, we abducted them; here we are; take us to a medical center and take X-rays...oh, by the way, that's our ship over there." You can't even be amenable to the stories because you would then be considered delusional. It's not to the abductors' advantage to prove their existence to scoffing doubters.
I remember doing my junior year's English term paper on UFOs, and this was one of the more commonplace, typical stories. (I'm going to have to go through my files and see if I still have the newspaper clippings.) It's jarring finding out things that have happened, but you won't know about them unless you look them up. And there's a lot of nonsense and fakers out there to muddy the waters, so you have to be judicious in what you believe. One last thing, every movie or TV show highlighting any kind of alien interaction uses the same group, the big-eyed Orions. They're not helpful and they do a lot of harm to humans; Spielberg depicted them as friendly; they're not. Others are beneficial and some even look like us, but you never hear about them.
I wish this were a better movie. "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" was a good movie, and the episodes were based on real occurrences, only fictionalized to make them more dramatic. I'm going to watch this reaction because you're a good reactor, and I'll try to get through it, but I just wish it were a better movie. This one screams B-movie. Love the channel, Chris

What I like about this movie is that the writer and the actors take the characters seriously. Even if you think the Travis Walton abduction story was a hoax, the performances in this movie really served the story. They avoided cheesy bumpkin stereotypes.
The full abduction sequence was executed by ILM at their stages. I remember reading that the producers of the movie were pleasantly shocked when ILM came to them and said that they could accomplish the sequence within the movie's limited budget. But the ILM people really liked the script and wanted to be the ones to pull it off.

Saw this in the theater ... loved it. It remains one of the best examples to me of how to humanize and ground a paranormal story in reality, without trying to just turn the whole thing into a hugely exploitative Hollywood creepfest. (I guess the first two Conjurings also feel like good examples of "humanized horror" based on true stories, too.)
Anyway, a year ago, I was driving cross-country, and stopped in Snowflake, AZ ... and also drove up into the same forest when Travis was abducted. I just wanted to see the place for myself. The high ridge where they were logging is definitely remote enough that -- at night -- some kind of event could have taken place there that no one else would have witnessed.
My story doesn't mean anything exactly, but I DO like to visit the real places related to stories that affected me. And this story, all these years later, has always stayed with me. Years ago, I drove by the Amityville house, I've been to Point Pleasant, WV (the Mothman Prophesies), I've met the Warrens and been in their house in CT, and -- yes -- I was in the room of cursed objects, too. What a weird visit that was.
Anyway, I've always loved the paranormal, so here and there -- whenever I could -- I've gotten these little adventures in ... :-)

Even though I have talked to him in person and heard just about every interview he has done, its just one of those things I dont think anyone can fully comprehend or imagine be it true or not. The movie was more of an interpretation of the event instead of a documentary of it as there are quite a few discrepancies from his version. At the very least, it made for a good movie... lol
By Travis's account, he thinks they hurt him with the energy from the ship by accident and brought him on board to repair and save him. According to him, he probably would've died when the beam hit him if they didn't take him.

The real Travis has said the movie is nothing like what happened in real life. He wasn't beamed, he got too close to the ship (as it was preparing to move away from him) and he became the ground to a big electrical current, it zapped him bad. He woke up on a table and the aliens were over him, working, possibly repairing the damage done by the zap. He freaked out, they left and some human looking beings came in and got him to walk to another room, lay down, and they put a mask over him. Then he woke up on the road, and it had been five days, he looked up and saw the craft flying away.

The aliens in the book is completely different from what Hollywood depicted here. I don't know why they didn't follow the book and show the actual event - it's far more interesting than what they made up in this movie.
In the book, the aliens took him onboard because he was injured from the propulsion of their ship - a bolt of electric knocked him 20 meters away. They tried to heal Walter but he was scared of the aliens and kept kicking them hysterically. Then, a human looking person came in and took him to another room, and show him around the ship. The aliens are benevolent, not evil like what they shown in this movie. I suggest anyone interested in this subject to read the book.

Don't forget Robert Patrick. T-1000 abducted by aliens!

This movie is still scary! And to think it's based on Travis's real experiences.😳
I love that it was filmed in my home state of Oregon. And I too have seen something in the sky in 1995 that at the time I could not explain...it left me wishing there was an emergancy Xfiles phone number to call other than the police!

I was so impressed by the visual effects that I had to look up who did it. No shocker that it was George Lucas' Industrial Light & Magic.
These aliens look a lot like Paul, the crude alien.

I still need to watch Paul! I’ve almost watched it several times, but keep putting it off haha. ILM nailed this film.

@@CasualNerdReactions I have movies like that- sitting in My List for ages but couldn't seem to find the right time to watch them. If or when you meet Paul and his gang, I hope that you have a blast.

Chris if you want to venture down the rabbit hole a little further try The UFO Incident (1975) TV movie or Communion (1989). True stories also and Christopher Walken stars in Communion and James Earl Jones stars in The UFO Incident. Enjoy.

What you really should react to is the movie "The Fourth Kind". At night. Good lucky sleeping afterward.

Cool reaction, saw this as a kid and living in the boonies this was very unnerving.
Check out the Fourth Kind next! 😁

This is literally the ONLY movie that I have watched since I was about 5 years old that left me feeling scared or unsettled at all. (before turning 5 I got pretty scared watching Poltergeist) I no longer believe that the overwhelming majority (and probably all) of alien abduction stories are credible... I used to feel differently about this... but... still... whether this is a true story or total bullshit, that scene waking up onboard the alien spacecraft is still creepy as hell.

OH my goodness, I saw this in the theater. It freaked me out so bad, I haven't seen it since then. Because I like you so much I sucked it up and put on my big girl pants to watch this. IT was much better this time around. I definitely believe these men they had nothing to gain by setting up a hoax. And I think it is pretty presumptuous to assume me are the only ones in existence and that we know definitively everything there is to know about what exists in universe.

I actually believe this happened there are way too many things in this world that can't be explained and the universe is way too big to think that we're alone in it. Just my personal opinion nothing more nothing less.😊

This movie was NOTHING CLOSE to the actual event. Even the names of the people involved were changed. The only names that WERE real were Travis Walton, Mike Roger's & Allen Dalis

ET is back... and its payback time!! This was a fun movie. The whole real story is fascinating. I was a huge UFO fan/enthusiast back in the 90s (darn Xfiles influence). Still find it all cool.. but i figure most of what everyone sees is military tech. I'm hoping most extra terrestrial intelligent life stays away from here LOL!!

I'm the same way about people who think polygraphs work the same way that they are shown in movies and that they work.
