Yeah, they retconned some things. For example, the two Protoss Executors in Episodes III and IV of the campaign are supposed to be faceless characters like the other player characters. However, the episode III executor was retconned to be Artanis in the "The Story So Far" article, and Ep VI's executor could be Selendis, although she isn't confirmed.
the entire UED campaign is missing the majority of the Kerrigan campaign is missing there are 6 campaigns 2 are missing so this isn't actually covering everything at all, outline, or whatever
if you care play the game, is survival of the fittest just with a lot of predicable plot twists in form of betrayals (since every faction wants absolute control without competition but cant face others alone) in SC2 kerrigan goes super sayain for no reason and suddenly is the good guy saving the universe, somehow...

It actually was completely explained in Hots 1. Narud= Duran backwards. 2. Duran started the hybrid idea and tests. 3. Narud pretty much perfected the hybrid. 4. Duran says he serves a very powerfull being. 5. Narud is pretty much the apprentice of Amon and is gonna be the main focus of "Legacy of The Void"
I don't know what Kerrigan really is, but I really wanna be one. She looks badass, she's extremely powerful plus she has millions of pet Zergs. That's just awesome!

I liked it, and recommended it. All the jokes and references just dumb down story so that *gasp* people who havent played it can get the point without being bogged down in details, or people who have played it who DO know what is going on can just be reminded of the basics.
As someone who's never played the game, I got the gist of it from this summary pretty well. Considering I've only fanboyed the esport games, I think it worked okay.
@crusadurus some of the SC2 footage better explains what happened in SC1 than what's available from the SC1 campaigns. Kerrigan disappeared into space, which he did mention, Arcturus Mengsk became emprorer when the confederacy falls, which he did mention, and raynor became a vigilante-space pirate of sorts, rebelling against Mengsk and his new dominion (unsuccessfully for years, until SC2).
This was totally useless in trying to refresh my memory of the StarCraft story. Half of the narration was written specifically to lead in to lame jokes and references rather than to summarize the story. I also don't remember the story being as confusing as this video makes it sound. The way this video nonchalantly breezes over introduction of important characters (not to mention entire races) long past the point in the story where they become important makes it extremely difficult to follow. Poorly executed, IGN.

And of course she's got a personality, there are whole books centred around the character detailing it, she's actually a pretty well worked out character with a lot more dimension than you will find in most media. She's not the cardboard 'Ohh, I'm evil wanna kill you all, muahahah' type of character, she's been given a history, a reason to be evil, motivations, and her own explanations behind it.

Possibly because in Broodwar there was a bonus mission, which I forget the parameters required to get it, where Duran is making a hybrid and Zeratul goes to it and I believe kills him, or he wasn't there and we have yet to find him again.
Blizzard had to change the whole game before release, because of the purple colours that players didn't like. Another RTS in Halo Wars had purple colours and got popular. 🤔 Funny how things can be.

Jump forward 4 years, and all of a sudden he's reminiscing about the past and what might have been and all that, completely neglecting that Kerrigan killed his protoss best friend, Fenix. It just made no sense to me; 4 years past should have made him hate her MORE, but I guess Blizzard really couldn't help but throw a romance twist into it *vomits*
@jorumpl Kerrigan didn't turn back completley to a human form but she does get back her self control and humanity in a sense but i think that she will still have the psionic control over at least part of the zerg and "force" you to fight another overmind probably. im not 100% sure on anything they will do but this is just a guess cuz she still has some zerg features when she was turned human

Starcraft and Halo have some disturbing similarites. Intelligent, powerful aliens with energy weapons fighting gooey swarmlike aliens with a penchant for assimilating species into themselves. As this happens, the humans are basically just caught in the middle of a giant war between the two, but then wind up taking out the poetically speaking gooey alien leader with a massive two on one offensive. Also, Ghosts are basically Spartans.

At some point, one of the telepathic badasses, Keriggan, get stranded in the zerg swarm, and converted to the dark side. Not only does she like it, but she pretty much takes shit over. Protoss try to control everything, but fail. Keriggan, pretty much owns everyone in the end, more or less.
Duke versus Stukov (and DuGalle) versus Raynor versus Arcturus versus Kerrigan versus Duran versus Alan Schezar. The Terrans fight each other more than they do Protoss and Zerg!

They sadly dropped the whole Duran-Hybrid-Plot in "The Wings of Liberty" They replaced him with this Forsaken One Guy (dark face, red eyes), it would make sense if they're actually the same person, but why go through the trouble and disguise as a human to begin with, when he is able to pwn everyone anyway? Well, he was in WoL (Dr. Narud. Figure out the puzzle) so I think he may very well be in HoTS. I would actually be surprised if it wouldn't be any signs atleast of him.

Blizzard had to change the whole game before release, because of the purple colours that players didn't like. Another RTS in Halo Wars had purple colours and got popular. 🤔 Funny how things can be.
StarCraft: Ghost was announced in 2002 but has been put on hold indefinitely
@clampfan101 You know that part was a hint to starcraft: ghost . (The sequence seen there is from the ghost trailer btw) But if you haven't noticed yet, it has been canceled and last time I checked blizzard forgot to finish it. :rolleyez:

@Kuritsen I agree; Raynor absolutely HATED Kerrigan by the end of Broodwar. Jump forward 4 years, and all of a sudden he's reminiscing about the past and what might have been and all that, completely neglecting that Kerrigan killed his protoss best friend, Fenix. It just made no sense to me; 4 years past should have made him hate her MORE, but I guess Blizzard really couldn't help but throw a romance twist into it *vomits*

Kerrigan didn't turn back completley to a human form but she does get back her self control and humanity in a sense but i think that she will still have the psionic control over at least part of the zerg and "force" you to fight another overmind probably. im not 100% sure on anything they will do but this is just a guess cuz she still has some zerg features when she was turned human

@tallguy781 It was never released, and was going to be for the X-Box. it was dropped in the light of the 360 coming out, since they thought they wouldn't sell any of it because everyone would be moving to Nex-Gen and no one would play an original a X-Box title anymore.
Fun fact about Kerrigan: The reason they put her head on an ice skater was because Blizzard got her name from an ice skater who's last name is Kerrigan.
Ok if you started playing Starcraft II & after the 2nd mission (getting the alien artifact) & hear all this talk about the past wanted to know the story of the first starcraft but didn't want to play it

Starcraft and Halo have some disturbing similarites.
Intelligent, powerful aliens with energy weapons fighting gooey swarmlike aliens with a penchant for assimilating species into themselves.
As this happens, the humans are basically just caught in the middle of a giant war between the two, but then wind up taking out the poetically speaking gooey alien leader with a massive two on one offensive.
Also, Ghosts are basically Spartans.

thats part of being a shapeshifter. plus chris metzen confirmed it at BlizCon after WoL when I fan asked if they will see Duran again and Metzen replied "You already have"
*sigh* Terrans are in a civil war. Zerg are the southern confederate's biological weapon/secret, except they are actually uncontrollable, so basically, They get everyone killed by aliens by accident. At some point, one of the telepathic badasses, Keriggan, get stranded in the zerg swarm, and converted to the dark side. Not only does she like it, but she pretty much takes shit over. Protoss try to control everything, but fail. Keriggan, pretty much owns everyone in the end, more or less.

Duke versus Stukov (and DuGalle) versus Raynor versus Arcturus versus Kerrigan versus Duran versus Alan Schezar. The Terrans fight each other more than they do Protoss and Zerg!

There was a sign of the random Duran guy, in the mission were you destroy a bunch of moebius buildings, there is a guy called dr Narud, read that backwards. Kerrigan also says "I've seen through your `Dr Narud's´ pathetic charade.
That was entertaining. But Kerrigan was in that mess when the zerg were attracted by the transmitter. They captured her and that's how she got stuck in the chrysalis

As for Duran, the heads behind Starcraft II have been hinting Duran's involvement in Heart of the Swarm. Heck, they even hinted that STUKOV may be in Heart of the Swarm as well.
5 minutes is still 4 and a half minutes longer than one needs.
Close the Choke(ASAP)....Build units on your side....Keep some SCV's near the houses to repair.....this solves many problems at the start....(I pissed my enemy off like this...oh, so many times)

They sadly dropped the whole Duran-Hybrid-Plot in "The Wings of Liberty"
They replaced him with this Forsaken One Guy (dark face, red eyes), it would make sense if they're actually the same person, but why go through the trouble and disguise as a human to begin with, when he is able to pwn everyone anyway?
Hope they'll pick this whole thing up in "The Heart of the Swarm" again

Well, he was in WoL (Dr. Narud. Figure out the puzzle) so I think he may very well be in HoTS. I would actually be surprised if it wouldn't be any signs atleast of him.
@kleash Another thing.. Blizz wanted to make the sc2 campaign playable to everyone, if you played the first game or not. So they didn't include too much old stuff
In SC2, Zeratual is an Invisible Teleporting Ninja with a lightsaber.
Zeratul wasn't sent by the protoss to kill cerebrates, the dark templar acted by on their own.
