Whenever I am sad feeling overwhelmed I watch these holocaust survivor testimonies for comfort and inspiration. They somehow fulfill that in me because their courage is really indescribable. Who could survive this? They did and I am truly in awe of their courage. We will never forget! 🔯 I am Christan not Jewish but I draw great strength from these people. ❤️✝️

I agree . I stand in awe of the courageous and moral Jewish people. As a Christian I am ashamed of how we let their people down.
I feel the same way. They are very courageous and strong persons to survive such things. I hope with God in my heart and the love of God on my side, that I could only survive such a thing, if God saw fit.

Despite what she's been through, she seems to smile with every word she says. What an inspiring lady. I haven't even watched the full story yet, but I can already tell she's the epitome of resilience, strength and grace.

I love her optimism, her disposition, and her outlook! Her memoirs are fascinating and gripping, and heart rending. What an inspiration!
Eva's son, Jimmy Brewster, was briefly in the same class as me at school in Tain, Ross-shire, Scotland. He left the school when the family moved to Canada. Only many years later did I learn the he was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in 1979, at the age of 24. RIP Jimmy.
Maybe they should have stayed in Scotland, who knows ...life is life.

Watching this video I have the same emotions and sadness like everyone else, just that I know the places she's talking about and have been to Auschwitz because all German Kids have to visit is so history will not be forgotten.
I’ve been watching these interviews and In awe of the evil and cruelty, bravery and strength that existed in that hell hole! I’m not a Jewish but I have a special connection to the Jewish experience. I’ve lost many ancestors in the Armenian Genocide as well as my grandfather spend 4 years in the Buchenwald as a prisoner of war. He lived these horrors and told my mother about his experiences, my mother passed these stories to me. He was also one of organizers of revolt in the camps and tried to escape 3 times. He fought every step of the way and survived by a mere miracle. I have so much admiration for the survivors, they are true heroes and inspiration to me and my children❤
Wow! Wow! Wow! What a fracking amazing existence. Her story could be a movie! She is such a dignified amazing woman. I just adore her. This is one of the best interviews I've seen. Should be a mandatory school teaching

If You Follow The Witness Testaments, They Should All Be Mandatory in Schools, And I Went to School in Northern Ireland! Thank Goodness that These Witnesses Survived to Give Testament! All Individuals Should Have The Freedom to Give Witness!

I don’t think “amazing” is a good word for her experience.

A beautiful and graceful woman. That she could maintain her dignity and humanity through all that she suffered speaks volumes in today's shallow and disillusioned world. How sad yet inspired I am to know that through her unselfish act of sharing her painful account, I have been given the most precious gift, which the opportunity to learn yet again that the human spirit is eternal. No matter what evil crawls from under a rock. Nothing can ever destroy that special kind of energy. It never dies when someone shares it with mankind. God bless her.

Eva’s granddaughter looks so much like Eva’s mother. That must have been a comfort, to know they go on.
What a sweet woman. Amazes me that she can be that way with all she experienced. On another note, how I wish the interviewers would stop asking them for dates things happened. It's not like they were given calendars.
They need to do that for historical documentation and reference as per Shoah Foundation requirements.:)

Dates help them with research for other people as well. They can link stories together and help piece together incidents for communities. One person's story can answer questions for other people.
@@paulcannon5065 after watching dozens of these interviews I'm amazed at how cold and rude some of the interviewers are... I guess they're just nervous on film? Idk but I feel bad for some of the survivors just because of how they're being talked to

I've watched so many of these testimonies....the common denominator I see in those of the middle and upper class families in Berlin is they all say the same thing, that their parents didn't take the threat seriously enough until it was too late. I totally get it. Berlin was such a liberal and cosmopolitan city before it all went to shit. I'm sure it must have been so difficult to imagine how drastically things were going to change.
That is true but i have to add that I'm glad these are available to listen and watch cause you cant forget the past or be deemed to relive it again never forget the suffering of millions to make sure it never happens again
indeed, what is also interesting about the german survivors (and not just those from berlin) unlike those from eastern europe is that most of them hardly experienced any antisemitism before hitler came to power, often so assimilated that their being jewish didn't play a big role for themselves. - just another proof against the goldhagen thesis.
You are definitely right. And you can see it other places too. It's shocking to see a society go from ok to monstrous, all they need is a real sick sociopathic leader that they mistake for a strong leader.
I could start naming countries and movements, even religions (or offshoots) that were good and then turned terrifying in a matter of a few years.
I've watched it happen in real time here in the U.S. since he who I will not name has fomented hatred and dementedness, and I just pray to God that the decent among us prevail and the sickness goes no further than it already has.
But it seems to already be snowballing.
It's terrifying to think that could be us in a few short years, because this is how it always starts.
One "charismatic" leader and the not so mentally or spiritually sound jump onto their ship and off we go, killing neighbors just around the bend.
And of course those who see the writing on the wall are always "overreacting" until they are not .

I met this lady in the 80's near her home in Canada, and worked with her daughter. She was amazing... As was her daughter.and granddaughter.
The interviewer has a lovely, soft, soothing voice. It would put any interviewee at ease, IMHO.
An absolute example of true strength.

Since watching survivor interviews it's put in perspective a lot of things that we take for granted or complain about, that aren't even bad.
My God. This lovely lady's testimony is one of the most dramatic and heartbreaking I have listened to yet. I don't know if she is still with us, but Mrs. Brewster was an amazing survivor. She told her story so clearly and so well, and her story is full of terrifying events, sincerity, bravery and hope. I mourned for her separation from her baby, her husband, her siblings and her father. I am glad she survived to share this testimony with the world. God bless her soul. The interviewer was also excellent. She asked just enough questions, but gently, without interrupting rudely.
I am inspired and full of admiration. God bless Eva.

@@singhdoctora You say that. You wouldn't. Life must go on no matter what, for everyone, including you. You would not die. You would live and be unhappy and have two choices: 1. be miserable forever, or 2. Do what you child would want and continue living. You would have other kids, as she did, and do so in memory of your child.
@@MarkEliasGrant So sweet of you Mark. And you are right. I most probably would have lived a very unhappy life. But it seems that way, you know. For a mother, it kills to see your baby cry but to have it killed, kills you from inside. You never forget the pain. I lost my niece to Downs Syndrome. She was born in my arms and died 21 days later. I named her. The pain of losing my precious little baby niece is still as fresh as it was 18 years ago. I have yet to overcome that loss. I can't imagine what this beautiful strong woman must have undergone.
I almost died giving birth and my last thought was thank god my baby is alive, I was happy. Thankfully i lived. But my world is my baby. No one knows what they would do in any situation but I live for my daughter. I know I wouldn't have had the strength to carry on. Some people are very strong and brave and can carry on x

I just recently started watching these videos, the survivor and liberator stories and I have to say all of the comments have been respectful. Main complaint I’ve seen posted is the behavior of the person doing the interview or sound quality.

What a woman you were Mrs Eva Brewster. For your mother and yourself to have had such a wonderful life in Berlin, with wonderful friends and family and all of this to be taken from you because you were born into a religion, which at that time you didn’t feel differentiated you for any other person, and which you had not known much about. You had such strength and determination to get you through everything that life threw at you - my god, why do we still continue to repeat our mistakes with each generation, have we not learnt anything. Thank you for your words as a witness and your words for life. xxx
I’m so happy someone took the time out before it was too late to get these survivors testimonies. I just stumbled across them a couple days ago and I haven’t been able to stop watching. I had always wondered if someone had gotten the events that happened to the survivors before they had passed on and I’m so glad they did. They need to be showing some of these videos and schools to demonstrate what dividing of people do for certain characteristics and/or extreme beliefs. RIP to all the people that lost their lives during the war and in concentration camps and these people giving their testimonies I hope their soul is at peace for eternity.
Mrs Brewster is an inspiration. Whenever I get down I will remember her and take courage.
i started to watch these testimonies.. incredible stories and people.. so i had to create now a file.. as there are thousands of witnesses.. i choose by chance.. i know i will listen to many of them.. true survivors of extreme inimaginable part of history..
I love this woman, She is the epitome of class and dignity. The Nazis didn't rob her of that. Her story is incredible. So glad she and her mother survived that hell. What strength and courage.

Listening to many of these testimonies, I'm amazed how the survivors remember so much details, names etc. I'm also amazed at the way they have pressed on through all and despite all those difficulties, the persecution, narrow scapes and what they witnessed.
This woman is absolutely amazing and beautiful so brave ..what she had done after the war for her community is astounding..❤️❤️❤️❤️
I very much enjoyed listening to this highly intelligent,strong women relay her story of horrific abuse . Her insights often amazed me as she told of different situations she was in and her contacts with the people carrying out the indignities and atrocities . She is indeed a very beautiful and special person who communicated so eloquently with that sweet smile! I do hope that her testimony will be successful, as her mother and she wanted. I still cannot fathom how someone can go through so much trauma and deprivation and come out so strong! Thankyou Eva!
I watch these and wonder at their strenght ,amazed by everyones I watch,a amazing lady,she had a twinkle in eyes too,lovely to meet her,may her soul be resting in perfect peace
Again such a humbling privilege to listen to this testimony of heart-breaking atrocities beyond imagination. If only we could have similar testimonies of the millions of beautiful and innocent souls who were murdered so brutally and randomly. I will never forget!
Every testimony I listen to, I think it can't be more crazy... and each time I'm proven wrong. This one is Wild... I'm very sure I would died at every crossroad, that she survived.

My heart breaks for her little Reya and all of the beautiful children and people who endured such trauma to arrive only to be gassed or burned alive, I hope she went peacefully and not frightened.

I very much admire this survivor for her strength, endurance and also humanity. She experienced terrible things but staid human. She almost did not need the interviewer except to ask for dates and names and she knew everything. That is very smart.

Throughout the three hours interview, she talked about her experience of hell with a smile and in calm voice, yet we are screaming and kicking when someone disagree with us on social media. Everyone need to watch these videos to put things into perspective.
Remarkable person. Exceptionally gifted and talented woman. I am surprised at the critical comments regarding the interviewer. She is quite polite and professional, certainly compared to many other of the Shoah interviewers who are so annoying.

Her smile is everything
Eva's story is very important, as she was born in 1922, which means she would have been around 20 at the time, and had a greater understanding of what was happening at the time. The fact she is from Berlin and her education at the time gives us a much more in depth picture.
We should listen to these stories to understand the time. It shows how ordinary people acted under this rotten system. Many of us looking at these videos are now older people ourselves and we should pass the knowledge on to our communities.
Every story is unique. Personal experience, different situations , times, countries...

This woman is AWESOME !! She experienced so much , endured so suffering and she still smiles constantly !! She reminds of a neighbor lady from my hometown. This one along with Kitty Hart Maxon's , Elisabeth Mann's and Dario Gabbai's
testimonies are , I think , the most interesting.
To survive, this obscenity is truly a miracle. God has plans for His people! I, too, draw strength from their testimonies. Their acts of courage are remarkable. God bless you all! Never forget!
