    I love this video so much. Thank you so much for providing us so many tips! However, I do want to ask in order to upgrade to a suite did you book a Deluxe Ocean Front King Bed Guestroom or you just booked a normal Ocean Front King bed room, because I know that normally, they only provide upgrade to one level.

      I just booked the basic room. They upgrade you to a 1-bedroom suite if it's available and if you have diamond status.

    I rented from Thrifty through a UK agency and was served by Hertz (Avasa) at Cancun. Other than a long queue no issues whatsoever. I politely declined the additional insurance and he politely moved on. Returning the car equally fine.

    Hi Jordan, you have changed your target demographic, hope that is working for you. I miss the vids where you were reaching us regular people with great experiences and local foods ... a simple life. Guess you must be making more money with the super hotels and all those flipping points. It still looks like more fun back when you were into the more middle class experience. Just curious, what drove your change in target audience ? And I can understand points obsession in Vegas. But in Cancun and Riviera Maya?

    Those are Waldorf Prices. I stayed at the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan when Genesis got into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. 5 of us chipped to share a very palatial suite for one night. We each paid about $250, so, $1250 a night. We sat at one of the bars and people watched all the celebrities. Yes, drinks were $20-$25 each. A glass of Coke was about $10. Those places are purposely priced that way to attract celebrities and the rich. That might be why this resort is so far removed as well - for privacy.

    • @TangerineTravels
      @TangerineTravels  ปีที่แล้ว

      It´s no problem being a black American in Mexico. As for the 2nd question - most places are safe enough for my danger tolerance levels. I´d avoid the cities along the US border. I´d exercise caution in a few states like Guerrero, Guanajuato, Colima. I´d probably avoid Taumalipas.

    I would be worried about a beautiful hotel like that not being busy. It makes you wonder if they can make it up in a full year without having to lose money or close.
    Nobody wants to spend $12,000 in 6 days except maybe celebrities, corporate executive management, or drug lords.
    It IS really beautiful though. The Waldorf Astoria at ANY location is for rich people. Look at the one in New York City.

    • @TangerineTravels
      @TangerineTravels  ปีที่แล้ว

      Im not super familiar with the Canadian card options but I do know that you can get amex cards that acquire membership rewards points. MR points can be converted to Hilton pound at a rate of 2 Hilton points per MR point. And 3 or 4 times a year amex runs a promotion that gets you a 30-50% bonus for transferring to Hilton. So 380,000 Hilton points can be had for as little as 127,000 MR points if you transfer at the right time.

    Dude, you didnt get this stay "almost free" You will pay for the annual fee on the credit card, pay for the spend requirement needed for the intro bonus miles which is currently $2,000 and already had miles banked to pay for this trip in total. Really disingenuous to say that this trip as almost free.

    • @TangerineTravels
      @TangerineTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I disagree. I think I did get the stay for almost free and it´s not disingenuous in the slightest. Here´s why:
      1. Because they´re paying me to hold the card. $450 annual fee - $250 resort credit -$250 airline credit = effective annual fee of negative $50. Plus I get a free night reward, airport lounge access, and other benefits like diamond status making the effective annual fee more like NEGATIVE $1000-$5000
      2. As for the spend requirement, no big deal, because they were purchases I´d be making anyway.
      3. I didn´t already have many points banked. Maybe I had 10,000 out of the required 380,000. I simply got 2 intro bonuses, got some points from staying at hiltons, and put some spend on hilton credit cards. They were all purchases that I was going to make anyway.
      And on a side note, as for the spend requirements, they´re easy to meet even if you don´t spend that much in your everyday life. All you have to do is buy some stuff that´s on slickdeals or a store´s clearance sale and resell it on ebay or offerup. Do this with high-priced items and it´s not much work. You´ll even make some money if you´re smart with your purchases.
