Matt, that’s great, I have to live vicariously through you to go overlanding, my pocket wallet says not today. Happy for you that what you have and are continuing to build on TH-cam and the Off Road community is going well 😊. Thanks for sharing.
Love the Metalcloak lift! I put the same 3.5” game changer on my sons JL. I will do my JL as well in the future. They advertise that they flex more than the rest.
Matt, Love it... the attention to detail that you do on the builds. The little this is why I did X, I always get excellent ideas and inspiration from your videos.
Thanks i've been looking for grab handles for a while now, just picked some up after seeing yours! Looking forward to the rest of the build - i regret not saying hi at the expo!!!
I've owned my JTR Launch Edition (also in Firecracker Red) for a little over a year and LOVE it. It's my daily driver, so I haven't done any major upgrades, but it's amazing in its stock form.
Matt to build up on your new gladiators looking great. I actually put a metal cloak 2.5 lift on my 2015 jeep Wrangler and really love it. Look forward to seeing what else you do.
I love the truck. You are doing an excellent job. And thank you for sharing all the upgrades. I will be getting some of those for my new gladiator I pic up on June 14th. I hope to go on a trail with you guys one day. Be blessed 🙏
Got our jeep slowly building. Went with the openroad panther series 2 winch just like that one. Everyone kept trying to get me to buy a warn. But I must say it is a very nice winch. Haven’t had to use it yet but man it looks good on my jeep! And so affordable. I’ve taken your advise on almost everything I put on it. Thanks for what you do!
This is awesome!! Ready to do lift, wheels, and tires and have been looking at those exact tires but haven't been able to find much info on them. After seeing your setup, I think I'll be trying those on my Gladiator. Thank you!!
I’m glad you did this video, it gives me an idea and I want to do my gladiator correct, I will be doing the WABDR this summer with a group of the northwest overlanders!
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures For sure. I am envious. The best I can mount under my PW is a 35" and that would be a tight squeeze. When I upgrade to 38s with my next tires, I will just put a 38 spare in the bed of the truck. 😐
Hi, if possible can you put a link to everything that you have on your Ribicon plesse? I wouod love to build mine exactly like yours. It's an absolute beast and beauty!!
Did the same. Bought another gladiator when the prices were really low. I had MC on my wrangler. Had a lot of issues with the right rear spring sagging too much (was told in the MC group that is a very common issue). MC did sent me spacers to remedy the issue, but it just kept sagging. Pulled the kit out and put Clayton on and never looked back. So naturally, i put Clayton on the new gladiator. Keep an eye on the rear. Just a heads up. Great video. Keep on keeping on! Cheers
We've made some changes in our coil rates for heavier loads over the past year or so. Originally we focused more on flex and rock crawling, but we now accommodate the overland builds and more payload.
Nothing to do with video but just have to say I just got back from a week of camping and wheeling outside of Oark and was disgusted by the amount of trash I picked up in the forest. Only stopped about 50% of the time to pick up trash and filled my trasharoo. Also the amount of trees down where people just created their own bypasses was outrageous also. I brought my chainsaw and cleared at least 5 trees down on trails in the forest. Found a pile of Mc Donalds trash on a trail outside of St Paul Arkansas. Not even sure if there is one even located within 50 miles of there.
We too are curious to see how the 2 kits do side by side. We have always focused on flex, but over the past few years, have been focusing on both crawling AND overland builds. Our kits have been awesome on our rigs that are overland builds.
Nice set up. I am in the preliminary stage of planning an overlanding gladiator. I have been shopping for the past six months and the dealers have substantial discounts along with the manufacturer s. I only hope I can pursude my wife to give it a try. We retire this year.
What does the negative offset mean? It sounds like I means you wouldn’t need any kind of spacer on the wheels to keep from rubbing when turning? I have a blue gladiator sport on working on and wheels are on my list eventually.
two things, have you added the thermal liners for the top yet? they do a decent job of keeping the thermal transfer from the top...and adding the smoked rain guards (ront and rear windows) will help too, as you can leave windows down about an inch to help vent out heat from the interior....as long as you don't haul around a 'house donkey" like Biscuit my Great Dane , no worries on busting the rain guards... cheers and happy trails.....
Don't need 4.5 for 38s. I prefer to keep my lifts as low as possible to run the size tires I want. Also the higher you lift it the more geometry correction you need.
I chose the 3.5" on my overland/rocklander build because is the sweet spot for daily driving and functionality. It's not too high for getting in and out, and I have plenty of clearance offroad. Since the built (Febuary), I've had it to Death Valley, Moab, Canada and Baja... all with amazing success.
Ansel is looking great! As always, thanks for all the info! We appreciate it! We ended up buying a super clean 2022 low miles Jeep gladiator rubicon in Moab while we were there! (surprisingly for Moab 😝 it was at the ford dealer and brought in from their place in cali she was a pavement princess for sure lol) just wondering what your thoughts are for the ceramic coating. We have seen this done on motorhomes and thought about doing it on our GMC pick up. Our friends got it done their fifth wheel and it came out like crap. We were thinking of having a really good place do it on the gladiator. We have a gobi color (tan) we are concerned about scratches, I’m sure that will go away with time lol do you think the ceramic coding will help, is that why you did it? It is a beautiful color red! I was torn between that and your blue, I absolutely love blue. I had a little Ford Ranger. My dad painted a similar color when I was a kid. But this tan One was the “right price” lol at the right time Thanks!!!
I have the same openroad winch sitting in the bed of my JT waiting to be installed... Still wish my gladiator was a rubicon. My jks lifted gladiator doesn't drive that well and metal cloak is on the list
I bought an Anvil Overland dash bar and accessories for my Firecracker Red Rubicon. Nice gear, but how long did it take you to get used to the reflection of the bar right in your field of vision? I find it super distracting, but it's only really a problem when there's a really high sun angle in the middle of the day. I'd love to find a solution to that problem.
Where did the name Ansel come from for the new Gladiator? Did you change the axle gears for the bigger tires, if not, will you be doing that? LOVE the license plate!!!
If there is a failure when winching, with synthetic rope who's to say the Ultrahook wouldn't help pull the line down to the ground faster, rather than becoming a deadly projectile? In other words, that it would act like a line dampener? I would never suggest that for steel cable, but for synthetic line it's a much more reasonable question, I think.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventuresok thank you we were wondering if they were good for recording trail ride videos or if we should just go with the go pro and be done. Agree. My next set of tires is definitely going to be those 👏

That 70mai dashcam setup looks pretty sweet. May have to get that setup for the Red Beast.
Awesome to be able to put your 38" spare in the normal spot under the truck...

Tim and I are looking at upgrading both our jeeps to the Milestar tires as soon as I get a lift put on mine.

I used a trim removal tool to get under the adhesive. It's not easy.
Looking forward to you comparison of lifts. I’m on the fence looking at both metalcloak and Clayton. I have more of overland build so “overloaded”.
Me too. We should know more after our upcoming Oregon trip.
Very nice. Are planning to re-gear since running g the 38’s or does it seem to do ok?

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures any thoughts to adding the hinge steps and the Rhino roof rack like on my Glad that you've seen..?
@@andrewstocker7457 probably not. Our rock rails make solid steps and so far I haven’t had the need for a roof rack to carry things.

Not yet but I’m sure it will happen at some point. I’ll drive it till the Rzeppa joint fails.
