A few things about Kovalev: 1. Supremely talented 2. Didn't like the rough stuff 3. Only exerted effort when he chose to do so Had he not relied solely on talent alone, he would have finished as one of the all-time greats.
Extremely talented and actually really strong but always wanted to make everything a show! He was my favorite player in the rangers, but he could have been an absolute legend if he tweeked his mechanics just a little bit.
One of the best stickhandlers in the history of the NHL. I named my son Alex after him bc of the huge influence he had on my hockey career. Glad I got to see him play one last time in pens jersey
i'm a big hab fan so i got to watch kovalev quite alot.he was an amazing stickhandler.this man can stickhandle in a phone booth.i think only datsyuk rivaled him and even then kovy was probably better and without a doubt one of the best in the history of the game.it's too bad he didn't always give you 100%but he sure was a treat to watch!
I miss the days when Kovy was still here at Mtl and playing at his best and the time when Price was actually good/great in nets and that Huet was still there as a great veteran goalie.
We say that in Quebec, its the amateur leagues for adults. Kovy is an on/off player, I think you have to put him on a line with euros rather than north americans. He plays well with Kostitsyn and Plekanec this year.
Agree 100%...especially after Zed scored that goal on Price on Thursday night...shows he still hasn't completely lost his touch...I'd rather have Zednik than that bag of pucks Lang.
The New York Rangers drafted Kovalev and Zubov.....................then traded them because they thought they could get better talent.....This is the reason we have 4 cups out of 90 years of hockey.
number 1 was the best by far noone could possible pull that of except for him lol imagen what would happen if he tried, i still remember that montreal ottawa game where koviu and all thier best players were sick, kovalev returns from an injury and TRIED for once XD and basically won the whole thing single handedly
i don't care he doesn't have great speed and i don't care he doesn't take a million shots (and hope one gets in). he is virtuoso stick and puck handler. he makes hockey stylish. noone can turn defenders inside-out or put them on their butts like alex. i'll miss him when he retires.
Cuz on that night he scored 2 goals and scored his 300th goal plus he scored on the shootout and he was 1st star i remmember all that i was watching it
@tcwhpgh yea I hear ya Im sick of ESPN always ignoring the NHL, NHL has a real good chance to step up this coming year with possible NFL and NBA lockouts
Man... Kovalev... I don't know why people diss him... If you put a good player with crappy players off course he can't save everything... Check Ovechkin.
Umm, really? What a way to sum up his career. 10 goals, 7 of which were just goals, 2 were interesting, and one was spectacular. I am betting there are at least 50 better goals than those that he has scored.
@TheHockeyCentral I wouldve love it if he had stayed to Mtl and been consistent. Mtl was a sick team when they had kovy, streit, koivu, ryder, higgins and all and they were playing like it was nothing. and like 2-3 months before the playoffs,6 (if not more) of Mtl players had over 40 points and kovalev had an 80 points season, Mtl had the best powerplay and best penalty kill also I think. I just miss the good old days...now its just not the same team, theyre good yeah but.... even halak is gone
Since we most probably have a pretty sh**ty year in Montreal next year (which is very fine if we draft great players...), I'd get Markov back (Since we have no one to play with Weber.......who won't even be there till January.....I'd alternate Markov Kalzner and Mete on the left to help Mete's development as much as possible), and I'd even give Kovalev a 1 game contract so he can officially retire in the uniform in which he was meant to wear.
dude, hes spent more time on every other team hes been on in his career compared to mtl. that was a really confusing comment. im sure pens n rangers fans feel the same way. actually im a pens fan, and yes i feel the same way.
how come turning someone inside out then put it in from almost the goal line is not write? i get it its a bad angle but if your like a sniper like kovalev is its possible
weird how in the description it says NHL while the #1 isn't from it ... sorry i'm picky but Kovalev is a great player sadly he left a good team for well a disaster team.
Can't wait till the NBA lockout next year. The NHL will be the only game in town in the winter. ESPN makes hockey look like the black cat of major sports. NHL gets the last laugh!
I dunno mike, may be close but in my opinion I think Kovalev is better. Kovalev didn't like Montreal, he just liked the money. He didn't like them though he hides it though, you can tell he's not going back to Montreal.
Considering all the talent he has he's an underachiever. He's stubborn & doesn't know how play simple hockey. Everything has to be a masterpiece with him. I watched him for 6 years as a Ranger & while he did incredible things his numbers were not those of a star, & with the exception of the 2000-2001 season they never have been. He's 36 & needs 59 more points for 1000 in his career (in 1,151 games played). In his case it's a deceptive stat. He should be AT LEAST a point per game player.
@MrAlittleofeverythin What are you talking about? He's never played for the ducks in his career. Granted you probably think P.K. Subban is a good defenseman too.
His shot is supreme
A few things about Kovalev:
1. Supremely talented
2. Didn't like the rough stuff
3. Only exerted effort when he chose to do so
Had he not relied solely on talent alone, he would have finished as one of the all-time greats.

#1 might be the sickest goal I have ever seen. He turned Esche inside out and to shoot the puck from the goalline and into the net takes pure skill
But also a great deal of luck
One of the best stickhandlers in the history of the NHL. I named my son Alex after him bc of the huge influence he had on my hockey career. Glad I got to see him play one last time in pens jersey
Always loved to watch Kovy play.
I'm becoming a little bit of a Kovalev fan because of this compilation. Thanks 4 the vid
Vlade 14!
Oh my god.. I will miss Kovy sooo much.. Kovalev is the best, good luck in your carrier!
Sucks its not in MTL :(((((
Which pixel is Kovalev?
the one on the far right
The one with the smooth cock
the video was uploaded before you even existed
phil d
i was born in 2000 :D
HeadOf TheState ok cool. wasnt really talking to you but hey , who cares, stay cool young man!
i'm a big hab fan so i got to watch kovalev quite alot.he was an amazing stickhandler.this man can stickhandle in a phone booth.i think only datsyuk rivaled him and even then kovy was probably better and without a doubt one of the best in the history of the game.it's too bad he didn't always give you 100%but he sure was a treat to watch!
I love the sound when he hits the waterbottle in number 3!!!
Kovalev has a unique talent big up For him
Still got his poster from '94 on my wall ... he's one ex-Ranger I could never hate, even tho he took so long to reach his potential.
He loved playing for the Canadiens one of the greatest hockey player.
20 dec 2005 ...kovalev...greatest game ever...
I miss the days when Kovy was still here at Mtl and playing at his best and the time when Price was actually good/great in nets and that Huet was still there as a great veteran goalie.
Lol, people are so spoiled with the quality of videos nowadays. This is video's quality is completely fine.
he knows what hes doing and i love that
oh my what a shot !
This got taught me how to celly like a pro,
Before Pavel Datsyuk era, I thought Alex Kovalev was the real hockey artist. Just like Pavel, he was just on a different level.
He has over 1000 points. He is hall of Fame worthy.
ONE OF MY IDOLS AND HEROES
oh baby...50 goals this year and the Hart trophy 100% for the 100th year...the cup is coming back baby
with kovalev and Koivu the habs really had a great line too bad that time has passed...
i remember seeing him do the #1 in a game with the Canadiens back then
#2 and #1 are insane!
hate him or love him, hes got some great hands
He's simply the best! Love the AK27.
Great Video...small minded comments from all hands.
how could he leave i was pissed when i heard he left I WANT YOU BACK KOVY EVERYONE DOES!!!!!!
Welcome back to Pittsburgh Kovie!! It'll be just what the doctor (not Paul Coffey) ordered!
We miss Kovy in the burgh. He's great
We say that in Quebec, its the amateur leagues for adults. Kovy is an on/off player, I think you have to put him on a line with euros rather than north americans. He plays well with Kostitsyn and Plekanec this year.
If Kovalev showed emotion every night he would have been the greatest player ever.
Here's to the NEXT top 10 list for Kovalev!
Should've posted a video of Kovalev's top 10 dives, it would've been much more entertaining.
Alexi isn't the fastest player, but he sure is one of the best!
im a habs fan and all i have to say is im happy he is on the ducks
These goals are like the same thing everytime except for three of them
Agree 100%...especially after Zed scored that goal on Price on Thursday night...shows he still hasn't completely lost his touch...I'd rather have Zednik than that bag of pucks Lang.

Number 3 is a BIG Snipe.

@jbunit2 I sure as hell don't miss those days, fun as hell to watch, but i prefer to actually make a dent in the playoff's.
man i was at number 6...the place went nuts
I hope kovalev goes back with the habs for atleast a season or 2. I am sure he would do a lot more than gomez!
HABS GOING OT WIN THE CUP THIS YEAR!!!
To be able to skate as slow as he does and they still can't take the puck is ridiculous. Craziest hands!!!
lol...he's actually saying ET LE BUT!!!!! but still, french commentary is awesome. it's the only way to watch hockey, they get so into it.
sick.
it was 11:30 in the morning on a birght in sunndy day in beautiful montreal
wheres kovalev's goal against the canucks in the 94 playoffs
it might not have been as pretty as these but it was DAMN significant
@tcwhpgh yea I hear ya Im sick of ESPN always ignoring the NHL, NHL has a real good chance to step up this coming year with possible NFL and NBA lockouts
hope to see him in florida !
now he plays for EHC VISP in the NLB/ SWISS2
kovalev is such a gangsta
kovalev = beast....rds announcers = best:D
Man... Kovalev... I don't know why people diss him... If you put a good player with crappy players off course he can't save everything... Check Ovechkin.

Thats it, thats very simple !
ak27 shots and scores
he wil be back
so much better as a penguin... i mean correct me if im wrong but wasn't his best 95 point season as a pen his best season ever?
dude, hes spent more time on every other team hes been on in his career compared to mtl. that was a really confusing comment. im sure pens n rangers fans feel the same way. actually im a pens fan, and yes i feel the same way.
@DamianoANDAlex actually most of them were against the bruins except for one of them which was against the sens
habs is the best team.
24 stanly cups? HELL YES.
HABS JUSQU'AU BUT GO GO GO
Go Sens Go!
do not understand why kovalev was on the pk in goal number 7
3:40
après avoir tiré de l'arrière par combien de buts contre ottawa?
@karnivorus who would hate him?????
Kovalev=God...
go habs go
how come turning someone inside out then put it in from almost the goal line is not write? i get it its a bad angle but if your like a sniper like kovalev is its possible
weird how in the description it says NHL while the #1 isn't from it ... sorry i'm picky but Kovalev is a great player sadly he left a good team for well a disaster team.
How to score like Kovalev:
Make a nasty deke.
Have a nasty snipe.
He's headed to the KHL for the 11/12 season :-(
Nr 1 ruled.
Can't wait till the NBA lockout next year. The NHL will be the only game in town in the winter. ESPN makes hockey look like the black cat of major sports. NHL gets the last laugh!
I think that age really affected his work ethic and play
@monktryface Ya but how old is he again
#6 against Tampa
I was there xD
@jbunit2 Streit was an amazing D... and still is! MTL should have definitely kept him.
Ho yea Bay M.KovalecMVP the Cup is comming back that right i like that :D
I wish he was still a hab!
I dunno mike, may be close but in my opinion I think Kovalev is better. Kovalev didn't like Montreal, he just liked the money. He didn't like them though he hides it though, you can tell he's not going back to Montreal.
He was a nice dude. I met him at a strip club in Amsterdam.
Hahahha

if he consistently tried, he had no limit
Mr. Kovalev - Come back to the Habs.
Thanks
@Jadozaurus became AK72 in Pittsburgh not long ago
@danhabsfan9 Actually, that's how you pronounce it originally in Russian.
funny commentator at the end
@MrAlittleofeverythin
What are you talking about? He's never played for the ducks in his career. Granted you probably think P.K. Subban is a good defenseman too.
Welcome home.
"you can't score like that, that's not right!"
