To answer a few of your questions, Opotiki is on the East Coast, in the Bay of Plenty. Our Police don't carry weapons, only tazers. Yes is an issue .gang patches are intimidating to say the least. White people are not really trying to get rid of the maori language Te Reo today like you think. 100+ years ago that happened, but growing up in the 90s i had frequent school trips to maraes, learned about maori Gods/Legends, history, songs and now theres alot of fluent white speakers. The language school in Auckland is booked out years in advance and alot of White lawyer's, politicians, Drs and Teachers are the people learning it. Kids are now learning it naturally again and its now printed on government vehicles too. The only politicians ive heard arguing against it are also Maori.
