and so begins the fun. truenas is wonderful, and I've made maybe now 5 different iterations of my truenas server at this point. the rabbit hole is endless, but highly enjoyable. cheers.
This is yet another example of why it's convenient to have an iGPU, even if you don't _intend_ to use it much in the short-term. It's cheap insurance. If your dGPU fails, you have redundancy, and you can convert your old PC to a server, like the one shown here, freeing up a PCI slot.
Hi mate, I got Dell Precision T7920 Tower, 2 X Silver 4110 2.1GHz 8C and I want to build NAS with it. By watching your video it looks over kill for me so I want to sell it and buy something older or cheaper because I’m just using it for media server I need your opinion ? thank you
How many MB you reach for reading and writing through internet connection? It is capable of video streaming? It looks like it will cost you too much on electricity running it 24/7 - it could possibly cost you up to 800$ per year on energy bills depending on consumption!!! (400w, 24/7, 0,23$/kWh)
I was trying to get above 60 MB but currently it's reading at 120 which is pretty good. I appreciate you doing the math but currently I don't run it for 24/7 I only ever turn it on when I need to pull files out of it which is not often.

I would suggest using ECC memory instead since it's recommended for ZFS
Oh really. Appreciate the information
