Got to admit, I do really like the sound. It's between this, MS20 mini or Minitaur. All would bring quite different things to the table. Bingeing on more sound demos...
Hello, I been wondering if its possible to manually modulate the pulse width of the pulse waveforms just like you could do in a sh101 or Pro-1, or Manu others? So you can decide the point from wich the pulse waveform strats modulating
Very nice sounds! Good work :) one question, I also have the se 02 but I couldn’t get to use it with the key step, any special spec or trick? I’m starting to think that the key step is broken :-/ cheers!
The small size comes in handy though for those of us with the tragic Gear Aquisition Syndrome (GAS). As a longtime sufferer of this disorder, I can say it is more about collecting and looking at the gear than playing it. Smaller gear= more gear in spare room (ah, studio).
The intro sound, it sounds like it has ambience / reverb. But this unit doesn't come with reverb, right? Is it just the way the Amp Envelope is set up? The decay.
@@r.e.d.62 Ah! Afair you've got one lane for a parameter of your choice. But you can change its setting by choosing one step and turning the poti to select the value
the soundengine is excellent, but the se-02 does not qualify as a playable instrument. Everytime I tried to tweak a knob, I got angered, and the hate began to grow inside, I got rid of it, no regrets, no tears goodbye.
Jef, I guess you are referring to the tiny form factor. Small keys and knobs do make it difficult to play as a serious instrument. All these compact instruments look a bit like toys designed for bedroom musicians, but I'm sure the manufacturers wouldn't bother if the market wasn't there.
@@craigshaw141 2 years later, Roland seems to have abandoned the Boutique range. I think market was not there after all - even us bedroom producers want to be able to actually PLAY and TWEAK the synths we buy. Some guy at local music gear marketplace has been selling a second hand SH-02 with a reasonable price for months - no-one's buying. I am tempted, but for same price, I get a Behringer synth with equal quality sound, better tweakability but lose the presets.
It's a three oscillator subtractive synth, it's up to your skill as a sound designer to make new sounds and your skill as a musician to create new music.
9859734 paul what would you recommend in place of at a near price point? I first touched one today and maybe it was just the quality monitor it was hooked up too but I thought it had really good sound

amazing little monster se-02!!!!
Thanks for ur no talking vids Bonedo!!!

The more I watch these videos. The more I want it.. God help me please. 😢
Gear lust beats drug addiction 5 to 1!
Did you ever get one?
@@chelloward heck nah they're sold out as soon as he did this video.
Oh I fell for it and now I have one on the way. It's going to pair well with the MS-20m.
insane syntheser!
real good demo bonedo!!!
I can totally see myself using this
It will be nice when Roland starts releasing some of the other Studio Electronics clones in module form, like Oberheims and Arps
This isn’t a clone, it’s a collaboration between the 2 of them and really stands on its own.
Every review of music equipment should be like this.
Every. Single. One.
maxcohen13 monopoly? Heck no. Analog? Hell yea
No it shouldn’t.
Bonedo sounds good.
klingt sehr fein :)
Could those opening notes possibly be any more BoC? Lovely
Thanks for your comment! In fact, I had BoC in mind when programming this opener. ;)
Great video no talking ✌️
They're going to sell a boat load of these.

Thanks! Try to check if the MIDI-Channels match. SE-02 can only receive on the same channel KeyStep is sending its signal.
@@Bonedo-Synthesizers cool I’ll check that, thanks for the reply :)
2.07 Very nice!
Giants plays keys??!!
yes! it does look like Paul Bunyon tweaking a minimoog

Well, it does sound good :)
Yes, it does.

yes, Noise and the internal delay also played a role
How much of the Arturia Keystep features one can use when in conjunction with the Roland/Studio Electronics SE-02?
Fuga Mante - all of them - midi out from KeyStep into SE02 = lots of fun
Sending midi to play it, sequencing, arpeggios, some CV connections
Are the modulation per step or only on a global scale?
tbh. I'd like to help but don't really understand your question.
@@Bonedo-Synthesizers Does it do parameter locks per step as in Elektron devices...

🎹🎶👍 subbed!
What in the 1979 is this masterpiece?
Can you hook this up to all or most electric keyboards?
As long as the keyboard / controller offers a DIN 5 MIDI output it's possible
If it’s a usb keyboard you can find a usb to midi box for around 100 dollars

Jef Tombala It sounds pretty musical so far. Can you go into any more detail about why you didn't like it? What else do you have?

Oh, and yes - it sound awesome. It's not meant to copy any existing classic synth(s). It just does what it does - very nicely.

👍🏾
What’s the interface/converter ?
We use an Edirol R44 for audio recordings and later fuse audio and video signals
NICE! Can I get this on iPad?
WINTERMUTE Lol
Ffs just make them bigger
Lol yeah it’s that simple 🙄
Good demo of a not very exciting synth.
Please don't underestimate this little synth. It's got a vast sound despite its small size.
its not the size of the synth that is at issue is the same old sounds again and again....not inspiring to create new music.
It's a three oscillator subtractive synth, it's up to your skill as a sound designer to make new sounds and your skill as a musician to create new music.
The Polymer Cities dude, it comes with 500 presets.
after 2:45 to the end, ......it just sounds like a bunch of martian farts.
Another crappy synth demo
Excellent! Make sure to hit that subscribe button to not miss out even worse demos in future.
@@Bonedo-Synthesizers absolutely.
@@Bonedo-Synthesizers lmao
You're using a KeyStep ffs, just latch an arp.
lol - relax
i'll be honest, I don't think it sounds that great.
thanks for your concern, but my ears are fine, and I will carry on making music, just not with an se-02.

Probably the VA or ACB that you uses sound 100% better
A Roland SH-2 it definitely is not. Wish they would clone that. Never gets any mention anywhere :(
Software is still better no offence
Reason why?
