A- I don't want to spoil too much for the AU, however the sun rises not cause of Midnight but cause of Sol! Sorta Q- Does Sol go to starclan? Or? A- Not really! He wanders around as a ghost sorta in Limbo, considering he didn't believe in starclan Q- Is sol a villain in this AU A- No! Sorta, Q- Is this based off places like, say, Alaska? Tundra, where the sun sets for a while A- IN A SENSE! I got the idea from vids like "what would happen if we were flung away from the sun", however if the clans moved there very recently, it could be sorta? The AU doesn't have too much realism and I don't want it to! I just wanted to have fun with it! Q- How long is the sun gone? A- ~a month or a half! TBA-
Also did midnight turn "bad" during the eclipse cus it made her loose connection with all the different afterlife's and such which took away her "civility" for lack of better word?

Midnight mostly went savage due to lack of herbs/roots (herbivore type things Badgers eat), and prey, meaning any sign of life is food in her now savage eyes. Losing her civility and turning to her instincts. There is no eclipse in this AU! However that's a really interesting theory!!
That subtle detail that Sol doesn't know he's dying until he sees blood is amazingly accurate. Because of the adrenaline rush, he wouldn't feel the pain at all at first and wouldn't probably think he was in immediate danger either. By the time he did notice, he was already drifting into shock and accepted his fate, knowing it wasn't worth fighting. Amazing job to all who participated, both in the MAP and in the thumbnail contest! While some could say this deserves a sequel, there isn't a need for one. We've seen all we need to see in one beautiful concept in one beautifully animated MAP.
I just have to compliment the scenario you wrote out here, you might call it not realistic but I don't think so! If there had been a big enough volcanic eruption, even if it was in another country, it could have effected the climate so much that the sun might've disappeared behind the ash clouds for a while. And for animals it would certainly be scary enough to make them think that the sun have disappeared for ever. It felt a little sad to see the sun show up again with them all dead, but it didn't feel unrealistic. Everyone made a fantastic job as well!
@@TheSoftMinkStudio Even not going that back in time, there was a huge volcanic eruption in Island in the 1800s caused a few years with very little sun with led to several famines around europe.
The map is awesome! the concept is chilling and creative and everyone’s parts were great. I also feel so bad for sol. The sad thing is, even if the clans did believe sol, the outcome would have probably been the same, bc how do you stop the sun from disappearing? And of course the sun decides to appear right after everyone is dead
Hmm ... personally, I took that to mean that in the new afterlife/StarClan equivalent, the sun is shining, unaffected by the *literal apocalypse*. But the dramatic irony is nice too!
god this is such an AMAZING map, the ending not only gave me chills, but also have a sort of bittersweet hopefulness to it (if that makes sense?). if there's even anyone still alive, i can see the new world being super difficult to traverse - with it all being simultaneously frozen, and all. the main thing i wonder though, is why midnight returned to her base instincts ??? i assume it's because she just needed to survive and so reverted back to her older state, tho i would like any other explanations anyone else has :]
My personal thoughts is that she was infected with something, rabies perhaps? Then again there’s not many animals that carry it around, so I’m not sure if that would be valid.
maybe it's because the clans of warrior cats have been destroyed... but I would still like to know more about this AU :) This MAP is quite mysterious, and I would like to know what exactly happened...
theory(sensitive/gorey/unsettling/disturbing topics discussed obviously): Midnight crushing the moon/sun at the beginning was her not only telling Sol that the sun would disappear, but also that it wouldn't return until he died. (hence "smile when you're not afraid to die") He ran out, told shadow clan that the sun was disappearing (but not how to stop it), and the cats, sensing that he was hiding something, imprisoned him. while he was gone, Midnight had a litter of badger babies, but they died due to the extreme cold/lack of food and.. maybe midnight was forced to eat them idk but anyway, after that she slowly went insane, having to kill the cats she used to call friends in order to survive. Eventually she did go over the edge, hating Sol for not just *accepting* his fate. When he returned, she killed him, not caring that she died as well, that may have been even what she wanted. then at the end the sun came up because sol was dead. yeah its farfetched but thats my theory.
I love how the lighting/color pallete in this map are so consistent! It really gives off this cold winter night vibes and I just LOVE the rim lighting and backgrounds. if you participated in this map be proud of yourself! edit: Also this sol design has to be one of my favorites
Okay but like imagine a kit wandering out of the nursery and seeing a giant calico cat impaled on an icicle with a dead badger on the ice beside it Like generally imagine the amount of trauma that child would endure.
THIS MAP IS CHILLING!!! (no pun intended) The designs and concept are so cool, and I actually didn’t spoil the AU for myself so the death at the end really shocked me! In a good way of course, it was done really well! I love this MAP sm holy crap

this is probably one of the most stunning MAPs I have ever seen, the animation, the expressions, the colors and sounds, they entire tone of this MAP is amazing, and this has been pulled out very well, this is hands down, one of my favorite MAPs out there
I just came here over crying about Crookedgoose (ironic that this is mossysprout) and now i'm crying even harder because I love Sol and the entire map was just stunning and him dying killed me and then knowing that he and midnight are friends just cant type anymore im crying too hard i love this

I have many mixed emotions about this map, and all of them are good! I'll try and keep this short, but no promises. A lot about this map was absolutely stunning, from the color palette to the designs and even the very concept itself; each part gave me chills. I love how the colors blended together just enough to give it all a spooky, winter-like atmosphere, and everyone who took part in making this map come to life should be very proud!
wow i guess you can say this au is pretty dark huh? :D but seriously it was amazing, sol with blue eyes is something i havent seen before too which is underrated af
it might seem unrealistic but in actuality alaska has times where it's dark or day 24/7 depending on if it's winter or summer so it is possible just not where warrior cats takes place

I wonder if the sun is connected to Sol in a way of his presence being there somehow kept the sun away cause he was some sort of embodiment of the sun on the mortal plane? Or maybe something like Ra dying in the underworld during night time but just like a little more permanent? Idk just wanted to spew ideas here

Seriously one of the best maps out there, gave me chills. Easy to read story and stunning. The lighting, the shading, the emotions, spot on. The spark of hope at the end, the song choice. Gold. I have to say this is the best character design for Sol I have ever seen, beautiful.

This has to be the most unique AU I’ve ever seen. Never have I thought of something where the sun never rises. It’s chilling and painfully realistic to what would actually happen. The designs really add to the depressing atmosphere.
This is such a cool concept! I can imagine if this happened in canon, it would be such a cool story to see! Also, everytime I read the title, I think of EveR ∞ LastinG ∞ NighT!
Me too... I'm guessing they froze/starved to death, after a while turning on and tearing each other apart as each clan tried to claim more hunting territory in search of prey.

I sincerely don't understand why this MAP doesn't have millions of views and likes? The music, the theme of endless night and this mesmerizing icy wasteland amazes me! You feel a special tension at the end, and after that shot in the music and the death of Sol 3:20 (those who did this part in general, special thanks to them) makes you involuntarily exhale and feel devastated. A beautiful MAP. No, it's more like a masterpiece and an amazing MAP.
MAN this map is AMZINGGGG!!!!! Saw it a while ago, and Omg it’s so well done! The ending was terrifying, but that’s what makes it so much cooler! Keep up the good work mossy, and all the artists who took part in this map!

I’ve been waiting for this one and it was worth the wait! It was amazing, the animation was good and the AU was interesting.

Seriously one of the best maps out there, gave me chills. Easy to read story and stunning. The lighting, the shading, the emotions, spot on. The spark of hope at the end, the song choice. Gold. I have to say this is the best character design for Sol I have ever seen, beautiful.
Why did Mightnight go crazy? Did she kill Shadowclan? Why did her and Sol's deaths cause the sun to rise?
Midnight mostly went crazy due to lack of food/going savage~ anything else would be spoilers :)

this is so beautiful and atmospheric!! the way the tension builds at the end of the map is incredible to watch, the pacing is so perfect and all the parts fit together so well! honored to have been a part of this, this au is so cool and this map is such a great way to show it off! congrats to everyone involved!! it turned out amazing
This has to be the most unique AU I’ve ever seen. Never have I thought of something where the sun never rises. It’s chilling and painfully realistic to what would actually happen. The designs really add to the depressing atmosphere.
This is such a cool concept! I can imagine if this happened in canon, it would be such a cool story to see! Also, everytime I read the title, I think of EveR ∞ LastinG ∞ NighT!

Me too... I'm guessing they froze/starved to death, after a while turning on and tearing each other apart as each clan tried to claim more hunting territory in search of prey.

I sincerely don't understand why this MAP doesn't have millions of views and likes? The music, the theme of endless night and this mesmerizing icy wasteland amazes me! You feel a special tension at the end, and after that shot in the music and the death of Sol 3:20 (those who did this part in general, special thanks to them) makes you involuntarily exhale and feel devastated. A beautiful MAP. No, it's more like a masterpiece and an amazing MAP.

Wish I'd been awake for the premier, but oh my GOD this is just as incredible as I thought it'd be!! Everyone did absolutely amazing with their parts, that ending was especially chilling.
