To the newer players out there interested in Chain Blades - Please Read I have played Dauntless since the Beta, a little while before its anniversary. I have mained Chain Blades almost 100% exclusively. I know these weapons inside and out, sideways, frontways, backwards and back again. That said, if you're looking for a guide to give you ALL the framework and know-how to Master this weapon. THIS. IS. IT. Seriously phenomenal job to Revvy in this video. This weapon is not for everyone, and it's a balancing act the entire Hunt, more-so than the other weapons. Your Special i-frames *ARE* front loaded, your dodge animation i-frames *ARE* back-loaded. This will force you to make a lot of split second decisions while a behemoth is winding up its attack; "which one should I use? Which one will leave me in a better position afterwards? Do I have the stamina / pips to re-position quickly afterwards? Can I evade the full attack animation, or will I need to dodge the rest of the attack too?" It just takes practice. You will get it. At the end of the day, when you become comfortable and confident with this weapon, it almost feels like a dance; gracefully weaving in and out of attacks, flourishing your blades around you and efficiently breaking apart your target, piece by piece. During the closed beta and similar to now everyone just automatically picks up chain blades because it's cool, but most of them don't even know it's purpose in a hunt
So, I see a lot of Chainblade videos and fucking cry. I didn't do that here. You covered all the important things, and touched on the dash and q, the most common missed things. I am super appreciative of this, because this will help out newer players to the weapon. Thank you Rev, truly
The only other thing I will mention is the dash light attack for the uppercut ability and the fact that light attacks can boop anything without weighted strikes at all while heavy attacks can not. Give it a try in a solo hunt. You'll end up trading a lot at first since the timing is super narrow due to the low range, but it's insanely strong once you get the hang of it

Just a quick mention, for thoes who are having stamina issues, agility and conditioning are excellent perks for CB, conditioning in perticular allows chainblades to keep a very high uptime on Bladestorm or spinning blades which could result in higher damage for some players. Other chainblades to mention - Pangar blades with +3 weighted strike cell is great for Embermane farming and can jump into shrike no problem. Skarn chainblades are very good for Nayzaga, aswell as including a weighted strike cell and shield mechanic for super safe gameplay and you can build a lifesteal wound set for fights against Karabakh with Nayzaga chainblades.

I have been using chain blades for months now and I still hasn't learned that you could taxi to a behemoth off of a heavy attack. Thank you for being so thorough with your tutorial.
You didnt mention one specific tech: The horizontal swing starts from your right, so most of the time you can look at the behemoth, walk left and swing, and the strike will immediately connect. This is very useful against stuffs like Pangar or Rift as they usually use interuptable attacks at close range and doesn't leave much time for a normal swing.

Finally getting away from the Sword. Went right to your guides as well as OhDough's. Love you content and this game. Can play a random game as a full time worker and dad.
It's always left out, mainly because doing the last hit traps you into an even longer danger state where you can't dodge, but also because that last hit has so little range in comparison to the spin, that a good percentage of the time it won't even be in range to hit.
I am a monster hunter veteran and although I liked dual blade a lot; i felt the gameplay was missing something. Consequently, I always ended up playing heavy swords or guns. However, I can tell you I gave chain blades a chance and I am in love with the gameplay. I think this how dual blades should feel in monster hunter world; and I know dauntless is a different thing but all I can say is wow a weapon never felt more right and true than the chain blades.

I just started to play dauntless again, I was having trouble dodging and surviving. I watched this video and saw how you used the chain blades and now i can survive the thrax, this is the 5th day of playing dauntless
you can use the reapers dance flip to atack with x in the flip to perform a damage dealing dash that kreates a up to 10 stakable efekt that strongers a special attack, witch is the same way used like the dash.(sorry for my terrible handwriting, im yust german)
Chain blades are an amazing weapon, but I can’t stress this enough. Don’t pick the chain blades just because they look cool, pick a weapon that you can do well with and are comfortable with.
U forgot one. I don’t think it’s in the move list. I just found it out on accident yesterday. When using the reapers dance to bounce of a behemoth, pressing A will do a fast, light attack, and will pull you towards the behemoth. Pressing Y will do a heavy overhead attack
There is one move missing which I just found yesterday. If you use the smokebomb escape and you're still in the air, press Y and it deals a fairly strong ground slam.
So not sure if this was in an update or not but, if using reaper's dance and you do the leap away special you can press RMB ("Y" i think on xbox) and you will do a spinning slam that does a large amount of damage. Seems to be a pretty good way to stagger if the target is still like skarn. Found this out just last night when i was helping some of my brand new friends XD. I was like OOOHHH, WTF was that!
Same. And I need to get a better hang of the combos - can't use those if my life depended on it. In the heat of battle I get what I call "Mortal Kombat Fingers" where I just begin smashing every button until something good happens 🤣

@RevvyRad For the loadout you are showing at 9:40 , I changed the The riftstalker boots and Hellion Cuirass for the Koshai boots and Mantle, allowed me to get ride of the conditioning and get Aetheric attunement to +6, with that I could also change Molten to Berserk +6, what do you think of those changes, better stick to molten ? Also, with recent patch (0.9.1) the i-frame dash of the chain blades starts right from the start and not from the middle anymore, and some attacks can interrupt even without weighted stricks, I thought that would be a pretty useful info for the video ^^
It does, especially when using the riftstrike. The Riftstrike is especially interesting because it makes you crit and if you have an evasion perk that gives you a flat bonus, that bonus will be doubled by the crit (for example, weighted strikes +6 gives you 400 extra stun damage on your next hit after a perfect evade, if you use the cruel riftstrike to evade an attack and then manage to hit the Behemoths head, you'll be dealing 800 additional stun damage with that hit).
For the most part this guide is still accurate, save for a few things like the update to reapers dance. ALL GUIDES are getting worked on as we speak. Which is why there is decline in uploads. Ill have updated guides very soon, so stay tuned .
Can you do a scorchback hellion tutorial. I hate that S.O.B. and no matter what I do im always down by the end of the fight with no revives and danger is active.
WEIGHTED STRIKES is not a mod, is a perk that can be found mostly on CORES (cells) and some Gear and/or weapons. The Mods require certain amounts of 'weapon EXP' ... there's a Mastery menu on the options (esc on pc).

It used to be that you can enter the docks back in OBT but they blocked the entrance with an invisible barrier.

Hey, for me, I recommend reapers dance, then use that as an extended dodge, as that is what worked for me.

Missed the full 4 step combo at 2:13, the full combo is X X Y X, that last X does decent damage.

Hammer smashing isnt a bad alternative!
The first special also has a pretty good explosive attack after you jump off an enemy.
You forgot to mention the chain slam. Where you use blade dance to jump from behemoth and click heavy attack.
I'd like to point out, that the swinging blades are technically are four hit comba because they have the same double slash finisher as the blade spin.

Pips are the charges you get on chainblades as you attack, the blue dots. they let you use the special.

Yeah, youll will be fine in 99% of cases bringing hellion cb to any fight.
