It's because Disney monitored and censored them so much from a young age that once they got out of it, they wanted to distance themselves from the brand as much as possible or else people would forever remember them as what Disney wanted them to be portrayed as - as kids. The Jonas Brothers recently mentioned the censorship by Disney during their Carpool Karaoke interview! Either Miley or Selena, not sure which one it was, also mentioned that there was never a real rift between them after they left Disney, just that they both tried so hard to distance themselves from the sugarcoated brand at the same time. By now most child/teen stars from Disney have become their own brand though, so it's good to see them recall their earlier days without any discomfort :)

It's nice to hear him talk so fondly of High School Musical. Everyone tries to paint this image that he's ashamed of them and would rather not talk about them, but he knows they were his big break and it's clear he's actually proud of them and happy to look back on the memories. When you think about it Vanessa was probably Zac’s first love or at least first long term relationship so ofc there’s a lot of fond memories there and pain too which is why it’s taken him so long to mention her. It’s quite sweet and raw 🥹

As a millennial who watched HSM movies in middle/high school -
His dancing WAS good. He has an innate way of moving that looks natural, masculine, committed and cool. Zac really is talented.

He's definitely grown mature over those years and look how far he’s come from all those movies he’s done. I’m so proud of this guy. Fame hasn’t change a thing for him. I just finished a HSM marathon and came to TH-cam to find this surprising interview!! Zac hated talking about HSM or even mentioning Vanessa, so seeing him speak so comfortable and saying the fans get it, made me scream from happiness! Also when he recalls how much fun he had pointing at the picture where Vanessa hugs him in HSM 1 made me cry!! They’re the cutest! The teen inside of me wants a reunion next 💖

I have been training to be a musical actress for 6 years already, and high school musical was one of the first musicals that I've ever watched. These 3 movies are all masterpieces, and are classics.
The background music "All in this together" at 3:07 playing as Zac is answering questions my heart 😥😥😥
