I’m really grooving on it, too. I really don’t have the words, but finding your channel has been a blessing! I have never seen anyone paint/collage like that with a gel plate. I didn’t know a gel plate could be used to produce art this way. I can’t wait to watch more of your videos. I am so excited!!!

I think I only caught you once before and subscribed. I am usually watching TH-cam on my SmartTV and too lazy to switch over to my phone to leave comments but after watching this video I had to!!
This video has me so inspired! I am in love with this color palette, your lines, textures, and patterns! And your voice is sooo soothing. There are artist that I love but their voice is like nails on a chalkboard and can't watch them. My word, you should make meditation tapes or do voice overs!
Thank you for sharing your artistry.
Thank you so much for the lovely comment. Super happy you are inspired and I can’t wait to see what you create! 😍
Wow! I kept saying, "What???" I've watched so many gelli mat videos and you showed me things I've never seen! I absolutely loved the final result. Just gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing. Glad you came across my feed!! ❤
You are so welcome! I’m trying to get people to use their Gelli plates as tools in a different way. It’s so fun! Thanks for commenting. 😍
Just beautiful! Thank you😊
Thanks Denise! 😍
Love love love love love this! Love your technique & your mix of textures & elements. This is so me! Or at least, so like what I’ve been wanting to create since I first saw Rebecca Vincent’s work, but she works in ink printing & I love Gelli printing. But I didn’t want to do straight collage. And this, using the gel plate as a stamp to create layers then adding collage strips & colour just speaks to my soul! Thank you 😊 New sub after just this video 💕
Yes! I also love printmaking ever since collage so when I discovered the Gelli plate it was an instant obsession. I’m working on making collograph plates to use. Happy you’re here! 😍
Bravo for sharing Susanna! 👍🏻💯⭐️💯⭐️
Goodness I’m not even half way thru this and I’m in love❤! You are on art fire! You have convinced me the exam paper is the way to go. I’ve always known and felt deeply about transparent layers being the thing I wanted to achieve and I believe I’m on my way! I’ll place the Amazon order next week so it will be there when I return from the lake. In the meantime I’ll do a little collating with some deli prints I did this week. This transparent collage technique allow for “auditioning” before committing to bold marks…love that! I’m so excited for you and by you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks my friend! I’m having so much fun creating these collages with the transparent layers. My next idea is to run the exam paper through my printer and see how that works with some drawings I created in Procreate. I’m a bit sad that I am shooting photos tomorrow instead of being in the studio. Haha! I’ll be back on Sunday! Have fun creating! 😍
@@MixedMediaArtByTrinaI can imagine you are excited to be in your art space with these successes! I’m sure tomorrow’s shoot will be fun, too! Have a great weekend…
Awesome! Thank you!
Wowee impressive! Thanks so much for sharing!

I'm another one that your video popped up for me. Amazing! I can't believe I've never seen this technique before. Will definitely be trying it out. Thank you for this Trina!
You are quite welcome! Happy you’re here! 😍
Merci beaucoup 🌸🌸🌸
Je t'en prie!
Whoah! Creative flows. Exciting!
Thanks! 😍
well done! whoo!
Thanks for watching! 😍
Best ever, Trina! Beautiful!
Thanks so much! 😍
WOW! So many new-to-me techniques. I wouldn't have thought to use stamps to lift rather than print but it is so effective. Why do you use matte medium on your plate? Thanks.
I use the matte medium in this video because I’m using acrylic ink. The ink on the Gelli plate beads up because it liquid. The medium helps to give to something to grip onto without beading. Thanks for watching! 😍
And today was my day for you in my feed ! Who hoo
Subscribing Thanks for sharing
Welcome aboard! Happy you are here! 😍
You would probably like using wet strength tissue paper. It is strong enough to gelli print and becomes transparent with collage. Amazon. 😊
I’ve heard it’s great! The medical exam paper is what I’ve been using lately and it’s fantastic. Maybe when I finish the 125ft roll I’ll buy some wet tissue paper. Thanks! 😍
WOW!!!
Thanks! 😍
Along with so many others you just today popped up in my feed. Subscribing right now!:)
Total inspiration !!! 😊 x
Thanks so much! 😊
Great techniques what is the brush your using it’s more like a spatula!
That is a color shaper. It’s made from silicone. Excellent mark making tool! Thanks for watching! 😍
JUST WOW!! I want to be you when I grow up. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💜
Haha! Thanks so much. 😍
Stunning work. Such a light touch.
Did you make that stencil?
Thank you! I bought that stencils years ago. You can find a similar one in a pack on Amazon. Link in the description. 😍
I am so happy to have found you! I love your work so much!! What is the mesh you are using? I plan to binge a lot of your videos today. Thanks so much!!
Welcome!! The mesh is from a garlic bag from the grocery store. Use what you have around the house. 😍

Thank you! 😍
Wow! Would like to try this technique on a large canvas. Is that even possible? Thank you!
Maybe? I have been wanting to try it! 😍
Great process
Thank you! 😍
So beautiful! I love it! ❤ just wondering, what is the reason for wetting the transparent papers before you glue them down?
This is a technique I learned from Jackie Bernardi. Wetting the paper is what makes it transparent. Then using acrylic medium seals it. Hope that helps! 😍
@@MixedMediaArtByTrina it helps, thanks!
Love this one!
Thank you! 😍
Great ❤ thanks for some new ideas 👍👍
Most welcome 😊
I love monotypes! Beautiful work. Had no idea golden liquid acrylic would work so well for printing. Quick question, what type of paper were you using for the transparent collaged elements in your composition? Vellum? Anyway your approach to print making without a press is right up my alley, I’ve got folios full of old stencils and bits and pieces for patterns. I’ve never done contact transfers with text though, although I tend to avoid it when making abstractions. Anyway, subbed, amazing work, really nicely composed, and a very generous peek into your process.
Thank you! The paper I’m using is medical exam paper, what doctors use in their offices. There is a link in the description. Here is a link to a video about that process. 😍 th-cam.com/video/jgY-H1NXWPY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mE8Lwn0zDtocfFv3
Love it!
Thanks!!😍
Hi Trina, thank you for popping up on YT lol! I love what you do here. New subscriber ❤
Welcome! Thanks for subbing!😍
why do you wet the paper before putting it on the board?
Interesting techniques. I would like to know where you bought the varied lines stencil?
So the technique for making the exam paper transparent is acrylic medium, wet the paper, then a final layer of acrylic medium. Wetting the paper enhances the transparency. Hope that helps. There is a link to the line stencil in the description. 😍
What is the brush you're using? Fantastic video. Thanks😊
Oh, it's a Flat Silicone Brush.
Yes. It’s a color shaper brush. It’s one of my favorite tools. Thanks! 😍
This is beautiful! I do have a question about transfering the type from the magazine page to the artwork. I am guessing the actual ink from the page is transferred. I make sure all my artwork is archival, meaning I use acid free products so browning of the artwork does not occur later. Is there any danger of transferring acidic chemicals through transferring text? The text adds beautiful texture. I would like to try it sometime.
Great question. Anytime you introduce ink you introduce an unknown to your work that could affect the archival nature. You could put down a layer of acrylic medium, transfer the text over that so it’s not applied directly on the paper. Since you’re using acrylic medium to transfer the text from the gelli plate it will seal it in. Sort of an acrylic medium text sandwich. Does that make sense? Let me know. 😍
❤❤❤❤❤
😍😍😍
I love all this. But I've never managed to lift text! Is there a trick to it?
Make sure you are using an opaque paint in a thin even layer. I like Amsterdam Oxide Black. You also want to rub the back with light pressure for only 10-12 seconds. The longer it’s on the plate the more paint absorbs into the paper. Hope that helps. 😍
Magic.
Thanks! 😍
Why do you wet the paper before applying it to the paper? Also, where did you get that funky plastic stone like stamp, I would really like to know if you be so kind? Lovely picture.
Wetting the paper helps it become transparent when combined with the acrylic medium. The stencil came from TEMU. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching. 😍
Thank you. I did find the stamp that you were using plus I had to buy a lot more than I wanted. It had to be above $ 40 AUD. Annoying. Not going to buy from Temu in the future. but I got the stamp I wanted. 🙂
Hi. Trina. Wonderful videos. Could you please tell me the name of the magazine you used. Such gear results.
Hello, I didn’t use any magazines in this piece. I made the collage papers yesterday. Here’s the video! 😍 th-cam.com/video/FOPdYuvFGWM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Qm61xo0x6sOhfEl_
Hi. Trina. I mean the text transfer.
@@GayeNieuwenhof oh okay. I forgot I used the magazine text. 😬 That came from a Vogue magazine.
❤❤❤hi! What is the plastic thing on the bottom of your gel plate. ??!
It’s a sheet of plastic to make it easier for me to pick up the plate. It also makes it easier to rub the plate to transfer paint to the paper.😍
Oops!! Goofed on your name in my last comment Trina! Love your style Girlfriennn!! ~❤~
Haha! It happens all the time girl! 😍🤣
QUESTION:
Do you remember the name of the line stencil and who makes it? Thanks.
~Susanne P.
The link to the stencil is in the description! 😍
@@MixedMediaArtByTrina Thank you. It turns out I already own it! 🤦♀️ I have a bit of an art supply addiction. It's hard to keep track. 🤷♀️🤣🤣
@@paisleypeacock1001 awesome! I have a bit of on addiction as well. 😬
@MixedMediaArtByTrina I can think of a lot worse addictions we could have. We're good! Ya know, my ex fiance said that I was not ALLOWED to buy any more art supplies. We didn't have any more room! Well let me tell ya'll, once I packed up his stuff, I had sooo much space for more art supplies! LOL
What’s the name of that stamp?
@@tracyburcham7350 it’s called ‘bubbles’.

Wow, thank you! So happy you are here! 😍
🤎🧡🤍🖤 Your techniques are absolutely mesmerizing, just beautiful😊 running to my worktop rn😊
Yessss! Let me know if you have any questions. Have fun creating! 😍
Why do you start with the gel medium on the plate?
Why do you wet the tissue paper?
Is it regular tissue paper or wet strength?
I ask because I have not seen anyone do these things before and need to know if I should be doing it, too.
Really fantastic collage. 🖤🧡🤎
You definitely should try it! I started with gel medium so the ink doesn’t bead up as much on the plate. The paper I’m using is medical exam paper, link in the description. It has a bit of texture but it’s stronger than tissue paper. Wetting the tissue paper and applying acrylic medium before and after is what makes the paper transparent. Thanks for watching! 😍
@@MixedMediaArtByTrina thanks! I have some medical paper (whatever Jackie Bernardi had suggested), but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. It was the most transparent in her tests. The skinny brayer looks so useful. It's in my Amazon cart already. 😉
@@DarcysMixedMedia yes! Jackie is the best! You will love that skinny brayer. Can’t wait to see what you create! 😍
