Bad User Experience: Reddit's Registration Process

A case study in bad user experience. The lack of information conveyed to the user by Reddit's registration process can lead to confusion.
This is based on my actual experience attempting to join Reddit.
tl;dw: You have to scroll past a long expanse of whitespace to complete the registration, with no clear indication that this is required. The easy-to-find "X" button in the corner cancels the registration process without informing the user that they have not actually created an account yet.
