Balazs tested both of them in official sets (off-roaders used 5min upgrade for climbing) as the result: the XL wins!

This is absolutely the wrong way to measure torque. You need to use the length-measured arm attached to motor and make sure the string to counter is attached to it at 90 degrees, then you'll be able to calculate the kg/m or n/m torque.
