Thanks Jell-O and CW5 Nance on this 1st episode covering the Army Aviation. Former enlisted Navy aircrew that made the jump over to the Warrant ranks in 2004 and started life flying medevac UH-60s, finally closing my career in VIP/ISR King Airs. On the active component side, there was a selection board to attend the fixed-wing course until the slots started being offered out of IERW as CW5 Nance mentioned. CW5 Nance mentioned the C-23 and I'm sure he wanted to stay away from the Joint Cargo Aircraft program discussion, which at least got the Army special ops a few C-27Js. Looking forward to the rest of the episodes this month.
Just in time for the workday. Nice. *I'm slightly surprised you didnt mention the CH47 Chinook as one of the episodes. That thing is beaut. My brother in law was a mechanic, gunner and crew chief on a Chinook. Served a tour in Afghanistan. Said he saw a few RPGs come at him. Couldnt imagine..
Great episode. Thank you for putting this podcast out there. It has been a great resource for determining what my first and second choice if what branch I want to fly in. 1st: Marine Corps, 2nd: Army
Yes we need more Army love OV-1 Mohawk Vietnam to Desert Storm, same with the Cobras...maybe give the Jarheads their own Whiskey Cobra/Zulu Viper episode. Actually we just need more Helo's....Huey's of course. You know any current/retired H-53 crew especially former MH-53 Pave Low guys..bet they have a ton of cool stories some of which may even be unclassified enough for your viewership.
@@FighterPilotPodcast Lew Jennings was an Army aviator for 20 years. He flew over 700 missions in Vietnam and this book is his story. If he is still alive, he would be a great guest for your podcast.
Hey Jello, just wanted to let you know that youtube shoved in commercial breaks every 5 min. It was incredibly difficult to get thru the episode while diving. Please see of its something that can be fixed.
I love your show and i made it thru but oh my God, it was ridiculous. Over 30 interruptions mid sentence. Brutal. CHILL OUT TH-cam!!!!! THESE ARE EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS!!!!!
Crud, my apologies. I checked the monetization feature and every single option was checked. Ugh! Will talk to my team about it (and I did turn it down in the mean time). Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
@@FighterPilotPodcast lol, there is nothing you should apologize for. I think youtub did some new commercial update recently that loads videos with commercials. There might be a way to opt out of the new program. I just wanted to let you all know. I'm sure its going to effect whether people watch all the way thru. Like I said before, I love the show and have faithfully listened to each and every episode, many of them several times. Keep up the great work and I will be listening!!!
If the navy and marine corps can have all these aircraft why can't the army ? The air force can have a monopoly on heavy bombers, amd really if congress is willing to pay for it why does the Air force care what the army does.
"The Night Stalkers" by Mike Durrant and Steven Hartov is a good read on the development and deployments of the US Army 160th SOAR.
Low Level Hell is a must read ! Best helo war account ever , Hugh L Mills is a US legend !!

You are correct about the joint cargo program my dad did want to stay away from that
CWO5! Holy s**t he found a unicorn!
Loved the intro and excited to hear all the episodes! Hooah!
Thank you for posting this it gave my dad a chuckle!
Great interview . I flew thousands of hours in as an Army C-12s and RC-12s PIC/Mission Commander. Retired as a CW5.
Do all fixed-wing pilots go to a C-12 unit after flight school, or can a new pilot be assigned to a UC-35, C-37, DHC-7, or DHC-8 unit instead?
I wondered when you were gonna feature the army! Been waiting for this for awhile!
The rare holy of holies....The lightsaber, affectionately known as the cwo5
I absolutely love this podcast. Hats off, guys! An AH-1 episode does sound awesome; I hope it's in the pipeline...
Do you think you can ever do a show on the cobra/viper? Or have on an engineer who worked on commanche?

I CALLED IT A FEW EPISODES AGO! love the podcasts! Also is the podcast on Spotify?
Yes, it is
You should have had a TF160th DAPs pilot on as well, or a little bird.
The army should have the osprey as well, considering the airforce has a bunch of cross over with heavy rotary wing aircraft
The Army is getting the V-280 Valor instead.
South of heaven is a book about the AH64A in Afghanistan in the early days. Good read
Good to know!
In high school we had an epic food fight on hotdog Wednesday
And that is relevant…how?
@Jell-o: A really riveting book on army Aviation is "19 Minutes to Live" by Lew Jennings
Good to know!

Hold that thought, we're working on an Artemis episode...

If you are into aviation:
Dan Gryder can save YOUR life!
CAS? The Air Force wants to get rid of the A-10. Why doesn't the Army take them?
Because of a 60-year old agreement that the Army would not fly such aircraft
If the navy and marine corps can have all these aircraft why can't the army ?
The air force can have a monopoly on heavy bombers, amd really if congress is willing to pay for it why does the Air force care what the army does.
Seems logical in 2024 but the two were once one service and some issues still fester 75 years later.
Apache is a very unique death trap: you can not eject. No thanks.
Chose Army due to low as ASVAB scores. Just facts.
If the army has fixed wing aircraft why not just reunite with Air Force
