Losi LMT Teardown!! | Cleanup and Repairing RC Monster Truck

- I finally had my first real break on the Losi LMT. The rear shock shaft came completely out of the shock body, ripping straight through the piston and the bladder. So I figured it was a good time to do some maintenance, tear the truck down and freshen up the fluids and clean it up. I haven't really been into this truck much since I got it, really just went straight to bashing which was awesome!
Losi packed a whole lot of cool engineering into this truck though. There's a lot going on between those frame rails, and even though they made simple maintenance like diff servicing really easy, doing a deep cleaning is a real task. Completely tearing down the Losi LMT was a fun challenge and took a bit of time, but I now have a clean truck, ready to get bashing and get dirty again!!

I've only disassembled the axles to install internal braces, even that was a pain. This is a really solid truck that looks great and behaves great too
Absolutely! The same things that make some things harder to access, make it stronger and a better truck.
The lmt is a beast! But I also had shock rod ends ripping out when the axles on the lmt would drop to fast or pulled. The solution is either get the limit straps or add some 8th scale buggy shocks.
Mine will be getting some limit straps soon!
on the rear axle you can change those 1.5mm button head bolts for cap head that lets you use a 2mm tool. Nice video.

Exact same thing happened to mine
It was the first time I've had a shock shaft come completely out like that. Guess we need some limiting straps
@@FullThrottleRC yes that is indeed the solution. You would think it would be OK with the stock plastic axles but apparently not.
I am using Hot racing 100mm limit straps on my LMT
Only thing I’ve done was install bowhouse low cg battery and esc mount and that was a pain in my ass , lmt is not as easy to work on as the smt was but it’s more fun and the brushless motor and 3s is a lot more fun.
It's really not that easy to work on but its durable and the engineering in it is outstanding.
@@FullThrottleRC agreed it’s Nicky done just not as user friendly as it could be for folks to do upgrades. Although a basic nut driver and mip Allen head bits and your set so it could be worse.
Maybe use limiter straps on your shock

I actually showed in this video how to remove the center diff, you don't need to disassemble the entire transmission like I did here. Once it's out you can replace the oil just like in any other diff

I'm sorry, I don't understand your question. You remove the driveshafts to get the center diff out and then when you're done, reinstall them using the same hardware.
IS THERE ANY GASKET IN THE CENTER DIFF and what wt oil do you use ????
Yes there's a gasket. I put 500k fluid in mine

I don't believe so. As far as I know it's 2-3s. The ESC or the motor may be able to handle 4s but I don't think both can. I'm not sure which one can't
i heard when you pull the top off the center diff the gasket could rip is that right ????
I never had that issue. Just take your time with it.

It does not. The LMT has a sort of thrust bushing instead of a slipper. It's a really cool system, you can see some more information and pics about it online

It goes back in the same way you removed it. Shouldn't be anything to line up except the hole for the set screw pin.
