    I like the direction that you’ve got going with that tree I think it fits the tree well. I have a few eastern white pine that I’ve been developing and there’s something very satisfying about seeing pines come into development compared to other trees. For me I think it’s that I’ve still a lot to learn about promoting backbuds and manipulating the growth in ways that help along my plan for the trees

    • @grobonsai
      @grobonsai  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Completely agree. I think it’s because you have to get many things right, so satisfy when the tree responds. It’s like being a parent I guess

    Thanks for making these videos. You’re my go-to source when it comes to designing bonsai. Man you did a great job choosing which path you wanna go with this bonsai. Consider the quite skinny, taperless trunk snd spread out foliage this isn’t the easiest material. Nevertheless you made the best out of this tree. Can’t wait to see this tree develope over the years.

      Brown on new growth or last year?

    • @grobonsai
      @grobonsai  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ants in the pot are bad news, they create dry spots. They farm the various pests that feed on trees - aphids, adelgids etc so check for pests. Brown needles could be old foliage being shed. Or if it’s current years needles may be a problem

    • @grobonsai
      @grobonsai  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Long needle pines are used in bonsai. Their needles do reduce with good handling, appropriate pot size and soil composition. Using a large design - 70cm+ can keep the longer needles in scale. Mugo and Scots pine are good short needle pines
