    Hi ! I am new in the candle making. As I hear all what you say I could not help myself and I decided to write my experience that can give more light about this topic and maybe could contradict some of the things you are saying here. Not my intention to do that, it is just my need to share my personal experience. I did a testing candle with a metal tin of 2.5" diameter, placed a WI767 wick for a C6 wax with 1 gram of Crisco, and use 7.5% of fragrance oil -Cinnamon from American Candle Supply Co. I let it cure for 13 days. Results: Tin never got hot; no mushroom; the flame didn't consume all the wax, but...OMG the hot throu was amazing. My house is big and long. I could smell the cinnamon all the way down the living room, the dining room and 3 bedrooms, until the back entrance of my house by the Kitchen.
    I don't know if it was the quality of the fragrance, or the additive (Crisco-very small amount), but that hot throw I have never got it from any other of my testing. Thank you for reading this long comment. God bless you!

      I realize this is a very old comment but if you happen to see this I would love to know why the crisco? I have come across several comment like this over the past few weeks but I can seem to understand what the benefits of adding the crisco are. Thank you!

    @edgargarciahernandez2476 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    It all depends on testing testing testing. 100% soy literally takes like one month to cure. Paraffin or paraffin blends take like 2 week cure. Also some oils are more concentrated that others. I recommend checking those out. I started making candles 10 years ago and candle science was the only go to place, but now so much more sources and videos and guides. Which is better for new makers. There was this one older paraffin wax I once used and it was super good with hot throw I mean good. But they no longer make it. I would use it with premier wicks. I'm not so much a fan of wooden wicks cause it soots so much when you burn for over 2 hours no matter what. Good luck makers.
