The faffing around to hang the hammock properly is why I went to the Helsdon hammock. So much quicker and simpler but, of course, heavier. You did well not to need an underquilt. Good review of the gear.

Yeah can't go wrong with Alton products. Lightweight, high quality and I haven't had an issue with any of their products to date. Great Aussie brand for the lightweight bushman.

Love the video man very peaceful and informational! When sleeping in a hammock if you sleep diagonal when laying down, and setting it up with the foot end slightly higher you can get a lot flatter lay and it isn't as bendy for your back and waist! Experimenting with those tips you will find your favorite spot and know the tree length that fits it best. Keep it up and love the product review, gonna be purchasing Alton soon enough.

Thanks for watching mate, and I appreciate that tip! I'll try that out on my next hammock adventure.

Great review mate, given me plenty of confidence in my purchase of the regular wide mat and fitted sheet.

    - they now have the tubbed flyscreen - accompanied with the tarp - that makes a single person tent - a 2 person fly-mesh will be the final missing piece in a fairly comprehensive lightweight camping setup - air, ground and - if adventurous - water (on the double inflatable). (naturally none is cheap, but then that gives some quality hopes - across the board)
Yes hammock camping in temperate / rainforrest kills tents for access and ease of setup (I have an old cotton Mexican hammock, surviving decades after first use.)

Thanks for stopping by, I just reviewed their new bugnet tent if that interests you. Yeah some double options for shelter is about the only thing left I'd want them to make, they pretty much have a product for every occasion. A larger tarp option would also be nice.

do u find u can sleep on a bit more of an angle to be flatter or do u suffer from the banana spine problem that ryan mentioned?

Great video. I love how good the settup looks when it's all alton products (green looks great) I've got a few and it's always mixed in with my other gear that is usually bright colors haha.
    Great review video!

Hey Luke it’s awesome seeing you here, I’ve been watching your channel for a while :)
Yeah mate the olive green looks amazing out in the bush. I’ve recently been making an effort to make all of my other gear natural earthy colours to blend in with my Alton stuff haha.
      Glad you enjoyed the video.

@@RyanWorsman Great to hear you watch the channel! I'll check out some of your other videos as well. Your stuff is really well shot!
Yeah I'd happily have an all Alton settup if I could afford it 🤣
I just got their bug net though which I'm going to try out in a few weeks on the coastline near the NSW border.

ridge line and underquilt are a must for a hammock, otherwise you will have a miserable time

Great quality video Ryan! Looking forward to watching more.
I love my Alton gear. Currently have the mat, sheet, and pump bag. The mat held up great on a three week camping trip through the Northern Territory, and some little trips here and there. No complaints at all, especially when you have the sheet too. I think I'll grab the pillow too since I have a voucher, how have you found it long term?

    • @RyanWorsman
      @RyanWorsman  ปีที่แล้ว

Hey mate glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah I’m still loving all their gear and use it frequently every weekend. Not had a single issue yet. The pillow is great, i like to place my puffy jacket over it at night to give it some extra softness too.
In the next month I’ll be doing a lot of tarp camping videos using the Alton tarp. Experimenting with different configurations etc, which may interest you.

Hi Ryan, I'm intrigued, roughly what area were you in? I'm in NSW. I was going to go with the Alton 3m X 3m tarp but saw DD Hammocks (UK brand) had a camouflage tarp 3.5 X 3.5 so I went with that. Keep on camping, keep on prepping, you don't know what's coming when the world goes cashless. Every week I'm accumulating quality gear which I can use in an off grid, stealthy, hidden bush situation. Those that have no experience and no gear will be in for a huge shock. I often wonder about the experienced vs inexperienced in Ukraine. Those that saw Putin start invading could say, "Right, to the forest, to our secret bush camp." It's the cities that will be bombed, not a secret shelter hideout in the middle of the forest.

I'm in NSW too, I film a lot of these camping videos on my families property. Yeah, primitive survival fascinates me. This year I'm hoping to train myself to fish and find food in the wilderness. Another end goal for me this year is to gain the confidence to sleep bare on the ground with just a sleeping bag. Currently the idea of spiders potentially wandering across my face freaks me out haha.
