Now I am Zambian, this man is an opposition leader for the party called “Socialist Party.” He is not happy with how the government has given the mines to Vedanta meanwhile giving them tax holidays. Now Zambia is quite in a predicament because the mines were closed for a while because of the legal fights between the previous government and Vedanta. Zambia heavily depends on copper exports so if mines cannot operate then the whole economy is thrown into the abyss. The current government decided to get the mines operating by giving them back to Vedanta which was almost kicked out by the previous administration. Vedanta mounted a legal battle for which the Zambian government was going to lose and pay heavily because of the manner in which they were kicked out. What this opposition leader is not happy about is how the current administration has handed back the mines and given them tax concessions and holidays. Please let’s do more research and give people the true picture. I understand most Pan-Africanist want us to get hold of our own mines and run them. Trust me it’s easier said than done. I’m not saying it’s impossible but it’s complicated. These companies are backed by the west, they’ve got cartels, they can sabotage you by not buying your minerals, people and families will suffer and wish you were not the president.
