What I wrong with the ENTIRE Charismatic movement? Justin Peters continues to make sweeping generalizations about the entire movement rather than separating the wheat from the tares. Each camp within the church has black sheep. I can find fault within the cessationist camp too.

What's with all this HYPER Charismatic movement nonsense, It's all hyper. The least bit of leaven my friends. Don't be deluded into thinking there is even a little good to be found remaining in even the most "liberal" pentecostal or charismatic "church".
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

When I went through this, I threw out so many books. In the end, I had just my Bible to go off of to start over completely on my understanding. I just couldn't trust listening to any other men until I had spent a good amount of time in the Bible for myself to revaluate scriptures and passages which I had heard misused.

This video was very helpful. I didn’t realize that I’d been struggling with post charismatic stress for a long time. I’ve been learning about the doctrines of grace, attributes of God and history of the church through reformed teachers these past two years. I would find myself in grief and repentance sometimes just bursting in tears thinking will it ever stop is this now my life in continual sorrow over 50 plus years of false teaching.
Feeling hopeful! I’m on the right path, all glory to God alone. Thank you! God Bless!

Yep, I've got to go to my daughter's wedding at a church I went to for 20 years. Although Presbyterian, it had Charismatic undertones and left me very confused and hurt. My daughter knows my thoughts but she was raised there and she doesn't understand the problems there. I have never been able to go back there but will for her sake.

I totality have PCS. Even now after 5 year's since leaving the hyper-charismatic church. I still get super on guard when someone says anything with Pentecostal tone or certain words are used. I grieves me that my friends are still in it or havent recently joined dispite my gentle warnings. I feel at times void of emotion after everything was seemingly hyper emotionalized. Disconnected from the Spirit trying move forward biblically ground while trying let go of all the bad and misguided theology and practices. I look forward to watch the video and please keep me in prayer and those who are still in it.

Excellent! I am also affected by this because I grew up in an Assembly of God household. Also, my dad who is on Earth says he's not charismatic but he is charismatic some of his views of God and scripture. This has affected me greatly and I'm just realizing it recently as I have come to a reformed understanding of biblical truth. I was just converted about a year ago at 33 years of age, and I have very much struggled with Identity, the scriptures, and even the attributes of the Lord. It's gotten a little easier but a little more difficult because I've just recently moved in with my parents for logistical/financial reasons, but mostly because I am recovering from heroin addiction, which lasted for 11 years until the Lord raised me to Life. I am very thankful for this.

As you say, time spent in prayer and the scriptures would definitely make a huge difference over time. Passing on some free places to chess help was also a very good idea. The people responsible for this will might be having a great time milking and parting these unsuspecting people from their hard earned $ will be in a world of hurt after they die unless they repent in the mean time. Really interesting and thank you for sharing. I’ve become so disillusioned with church in general after leaving two spiritually abusive charismatic movements. For me, recovery is not just a matter of switching denomination or reading heavy theological books. It’s being back at square one in a complete reassessment of my faith and for the time being staying well away from membership of any church. Let’s face it, it’s not just charismatic groups that can be abusive, there is so much of it in the wider church too. Love the cute dog!

Hello, I'm thankful God is working through you and thank you for producing these interesting videos!
I'm a teenager and I grew up Pentecostal and I think it had a part in making me agnostic for the most part of my life. Now that I became an actual Christian and actually started studying the Bible for myself, I have come to the conclusion that many of the practices in Pentecostal and Charismatic churches are unbiblical such as slain in the spirit, tongues, whipping the air with a belt (yes, our leader believed that government politics are influenced by spirits and the way to drive these spirits out is by doing this ritual and called it "spiritual warfare") and many others.
I no longer identify as belonging to any denomination, so I just call myself a Bible believing Christian attending a non-denominational church. The problem is, my family has now embraced NAR teachings because a friend introduced them to a "Prophetess" and now, they don't even go to church. Every Sunday they just watch the Prophetess' videos regularly at night (because she is in a different timezone), they would literally sleep at midnight listening to this NAR teacher. They even give their offerings to her. They treat her as if she has the only authority when it comes to Bible interpretation. She does a good job of tickling their ears, that's why my mother said she loves listening to her because she gains new "knowledge" while all the other pastors from the churches just repeat the same topics that she already knows (and when I mean new "knowledge" I mean literal misinterpretations of the Bible and using description as prescription). The Prophetess also admires other teachers like Benny Hinn and Paula White. She also prays curses over politicians and when I pointed out to my family that that is exactly the opposite of what the Bible teaches in that we should not curse but even pray for our enemies. They then would say that I am "legalistic."
I wonder how I can lead my family out of this. They are so invested in it that they think going to church is being acquainted with a "religious spirit."

Andreas, Great video. It's good to hear advice and encouragement for those who labor under charismatic oppression, it's not something I hear a lot of. I wonder if there are comprehensive resources to help train local churches and leadership to understand and deal with this sort of phenomena. Some of the stories I occasionally hear point out a serious lack of knowledge and consideration in the local church for those who are escaping a false Christian worldview. Church leaders can be clueless as to what sort of experience these people are going through and suffering from, especially for those who are fleeing from abusive and cult like organizations. And it is tragic when someone frees themselves from one falsehood only to fall into another. Also I would like to compliment your videos. I have noticed ongoing improvement in content and presentation over the time I've been following your channel. Keep up the good work, it is appreciated. Nice dog too.

Hi there, thank you so much for your kind words. I also love your compassion for PCS sufferers. I do not know of a book that specifically addresses the aftermath of charismatic involvement. There are plenty of books dealing with spiritual abuse in the church. But there is none that has the sole focus of PCS. Maybe I will have to write it one day. But yes, you are right Christian leaders coming from a non-charismatic evangelical background can be clueless. This can lead to insensitive treatment of those who are suffering. They might look for a quick fix. But spiritual re-orientation is a long journey. It usually takes several years, depending on how long the individual was involved in a twisted form of Christianity. So, leaders need a lot of patience. They will have to be equipped in answering difficult theological questions thoroughly and convincingly. They will have to know how the sufferer can find relief from depression, fear, anger, bitterness and guilt. They will have to be familiar with the charismatic worldview on order to relate. A lot of the issues can even be handled from the pulpit through faithful expository preaching. Charismatics usually have a loose understanding of doctrinal things. This makes proper categorical thinking and discernment more difficult to them. Everything is based on emotions and experiences. The charismatic mind is used to wander here and there without critically examining things. I hope this helps. Blessings

I grew up Pentecostal. I never spoke in tongues and that eventually became an issue. For other reasons I left the church. I really didn’t think much about it for a vary long time. Until recently. I fully rejected their theology. I find it to be self centered, and neglecting the great commandment to love your neighbor. Particularly I can’t remember any efforts to help the poor. That also became an issue. However I have the nagging fear that I’ve blasphemed the sprit by not believing the “gifts” that I saw in my youth. At least not many of them. And now have no hope of salvation.

Hello Andreas. This question is because of watching you on an interview about speaking in tongues. Can you explain Mark 16:17? And isn't is saying to His disciples that those that believe signs will follow...one of them is speaking in a new language. Its a verse you missed out. Or could you email me your answer? I'm having a bit of a shocker with all this theology. Many thanks

Hi Paula. Thanks for asking. Mark 16:9-20 is known as the "longer ending of Mark." It is a textual variant that is not included in many of the most ancient manuscripts. That's why you find the longer ending of Mark in brackets in many Bibles (you can look it up for yourself). Another issue is that the longer ending of Mark seems to be different in Greek grammar/style than the rest of Mark's writing. I personally believe Mark 16:9-20 was not part of Mark's original writing. So, I do not recommend building doctrine on Mark 16:9-20. I hope that helps. Blessings. I have a question what do you do if you are still in it? How do you cope with it? We are still in it and a lot of stuff they say isn’t necessarily bad and is scriptural but there’s a lot of stuff on top that I disagree with strongly like the tongues and slain in the spirit, second baptism of the spirit, all that and it bothers me strongly. My husband doesn’t want to leave but I do because it bothers me so much and I don’t want my kid to see that. He just tells me to work out my own salvation with fear and trembling and not let them bother me he has some disagreements but not as much as I do and I just don’t know what to do it’s making me withdrawal and feel far away from God. And I can’t worship there for fear of something crazy happening and like I said some stuff they say is really good but other stuff are some strong disagreements. And me personally I feel like the gospel isn’t upfront and clear as it should be it’s more life application stuff but my husband says I’m just picking on it too much so I just don’t know what to do. It’s very spiritually draining to be around it sometimes we leave and I’m in tears because it bothers me other times I just feel totally zoned out or angry so any help you could give me I would really appreciate. I’m trying to do the right thing and I’m assuming that’s going with him there and I do love all the people dearly but it’s just getting harder and causing division in my marriage. This is been going on for a few years for me. My husband goes back-and-forth with agreeing and then disagreeing with me he gets angry when I bring up stuff about the church so I don’t know what to do sorry I’m rambling

Hi there. I am sorry to hear that. Remote counseling can sometimes be a little bit delicate. What I can see is that your concerns seem to be right. I can also see that the current situation hinders the proper application of certain marriage principles: e.g. the husband should self-sacrificially love his wife and treat her in an understanding way, as the weaker vessel; the wife should submit to her husband (see Eph. 5:22-33; 1 Pet. 3:7). Then, there is also the principle of taking care of each other's desires (Phil. 2:4). Of course, you could show these verses to your husband and talk through them. Try to figure out together if the current situation reflects these principles. Then, you could also suggest another church to your husband. This church should be biblical, and according to Phil. 2:4, it should be a place where both of you feel comfortable. I hope this helps. Blessings.

What's with all this HYPER Charismatic movement nonsense, It's all hyper. The least bit of leaven my friends. Don't be deluded into thinking there is even a little good to be found remaining in even the most "liberal" pentecostal or charismatic "church".

I listened to the 1st 4 minutes but that was all I could take. I also consider myself a 'Biblicist' (sic) AND am also a Charismatic. Here though you make sweeping generalizations but lump an entire group of people probably because of a bad experience with just a few or one of them. Your evidence too is all anecdotal; no real hard evidence here.
Tell me this- if you get a fake $20 bill once do you stop spending $20 bills? Of course we don't. We don't just stop money or reject entire Movements by a few bad experiences with them. I object to your showing pictures of ministers to draw people to your video as well. IF we come against those whom God has called to a particular role we need to realize that as they follow Christ God will then have to defend THEM against US. It's divisive to do so and harmful to the Body of Christ. That's one of the main problems with the internet: people can say anything they want with faux immunity and never have to face those being accused.
I was raised Baptist (Fundamentalist) and I accept that Fundamentalism is needed and has its place. Where it falls short and receiving the Baptism of God the Holy Spirit has given me a greater EXPERIENTIAL and not just intellectual knowledge that Fundamentalism could not and cannot give us. THE RHEMA REVEALS THE LOGOS. Compare Rom. 14:17 with John 1:1 and Heb. 4:12 and check in the Greek what the word for 'word' is in each verse. They're not the same. And we need both along with indeed a good exegesis.
