It will be interesting to see how the Duffers write Wills feelings for Mike. Being gay in the 80's was a lot different than it is now. How it was viewed socially. We see when Robin tells Steve that she is gay... But it may be hard for Mike to accept at 1st. There was that scene where Will and Mike were arguing and Mike says its not my fault you dont like girls... So was that Mike saying I see you or was it Mike chalking it up as with everything Will had been through? Will Mike be as accepting when he finds out that he is the person Will is crushing on?
Mike was projecting his own feelings onto Will, there has been hints since season 1 that he’s gay too. Watch my video about Mike’s hidden arc. I bet Mike is going to be shocked once the truth about the painting comes out and he figures out that Will loves him. But he’s also going to be happy to find out that his feelings for Will is reciprocated. That’s how I see it.

Whether or not Mike is gay, he was a way more compelling character in season 2 when he was caring for Will than he was in seasons 3 and 4 when he was obsessing over El. I like the interpretation that Mike’s generically grand love declaration is something that El saw as BS, rather than it’s what gave her the strength to fight Vecna even though Max was in mortal danger. It’s shows more growth for El if a false love declaration made her “angry and sad.” That kinda made me puke a little when I thought that Mike’s grand speech that he ripped off from a bunch of crappy movie cliches and even a line from Will’s earlier speech gave El strength. I just want the poor girl to find value in herself beyond her powers and being Mike’s girlfriend. If Byler does happen, hopefully Will stops putting up with some of Mike’s self absorbed BS. Will is a non-confrontational person. Sometimes he lets Mike off the hook too easily (like in season 2- Mike actually ditched Will on Halloween because he was mad about Max. Then Will got harassed by the bullies and had an episode. Then he was an excessive jerk at rink o mania. He owed Will a much bigger apology. Like he should have groveled at least as much as Jonathan did to Nancy in season 3- even though Jonathan didn’t do anything wrong. Nancy should have been the one to grovel). But if Mike realizes his feelings and is like “sorry, I was only a jerk to you and pushed you away because I was scared of my own feelings” hopefully Will says, “Cool, I forgive you, but no more treating me like that Or I’ll take whatever advice Max give me.”
I know this isn’t everyone’s opinion and if you don’t agree it’s totally ok🙂. I ship mileven way more than byler but I know not everyone does🙂. I think Noah ships byler but we shouldn’t drag finn into this because I think finn is just a little torn between which ship to chose.
I think it’s more about he isn’t allowed to choose part because his character is in the middle of this love triangle right now. But by the way he talks and reacts to Byler/Mileven, to me it’s pretty obvious he ships Byler 🙈
for mike it's always been eleven and vise versa. u look at everything they've been through through season 1 to four and it's kind of difficult to see how they dont end up together.
