    You have a real talent for blending video and technical matters. Most engineers can't talk without confusing themselves and the people who are supposed to be learning from them. You're very good at presenting both without being boring or overly artsy.

    Is it that hard to figure out the indoor bumpers on the parrot are on backwards?

    • @foulesttripod6154
      @foulesttripod6154 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      No because half of the braces are black and the other half is blue, and the bebop drone is half black half blue

    How did you manage to mess p the protector bumps on the Parrot Bebop? You switched them around, and the Parrot logo was upside down...

      He put the hulls on the wrong side. Meaning the right side hull is on the left side and vise versa. Doesn't really make any difference other than upside down words.

    • @KodieCollingsGaming
      @KodieCollingsGaming 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The blade guards aren't supposed to be on outdoors as they severely effect flight handling in the wind. It's better to take them off and not crash than have them on and increase the chances of crashing.

    • @a43-c2l

      KCG - Kodie Collings Gaming plus it looks like the blade guards came backwards. Blue goes with the blue props and black with black right?

    In all the videos I have seen so far showing the Parrot bebop there is a glitch in the video where it looks like it does a quick jump back and forth, not quite sure how to describe it. I figure it is a bug in the software control that can be fixed.
    On a side note it sounds as if you are pronouncing DJI as DGI, you're not the only one tho as it seems like a common mispronunciation.

    • @matty9460

      Lol I just noticed that's how I say it too, Dji is much harder to pronounce

      Ben7seven7 The Beebop has a fixed camera so the side to side will show up no matter what, a gimbal corrects that problem, if you want to test this for yourself grab a cheap toy grade quad with camera and take video, you will see the same jumping around that you witnessed on the Beebop.

    • @Ben7seven7
      @Ben7seven7 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      anthony eaglebarger No, from what I understand the problem is a software / firmware glitch which I think has been fixed.

      I don't know, do not plan on buying the bebop due to the high cost of the skycontroller, I am looking at their other one which I found a controller that I can connect to my phone to control, saves the expense since the other one has about the same camera and costs 100 bucks less plus has a downwards facing camera.

    Great non bias review! However, the Bebop is a lot more effective and easier to control out-doors if you take off the bumpers. The bumpers are for indoor flight only, when used outside it picks up a lot more wind resistance pushing it around a lot more then if they were not there.

    It's worth noting that the Phantom 2 only gets a 25 minute flight time or even a little better when no gimbal and camera is on it. Adding a gimbal and doc accessories will reduce flight time sub 20 mins. The new Phantom 3 which has everything on it camera gimbal etc is expected to have 23 minute flight time using a 4 cell battery vs the Phantoms 2s 3 cell.

    Why are you flying the bebop with the indoor hull?? That will make your flight very bad because the bumpers work like sailed and gets blown around!! Also if you get an Ndidia shield for your bebop you get awesome control than using the touch screen! Also you don't have to pay the money for the sky controller. My bebop fly's extremely stable with the Nvidia shield!

    I have a gopro hero 3 and would be quit keen to buy the DJI but my main use for it would be to film the likes of mountain bikes moving down a track so I think the DJI would be good due to its speed. I do like the bepbop as it allows you to see what your filming which you can do with the gopro app but with the 5 sec lag and poor connection distance I don't know if id be better with the bepbop. Any advise ?

    • @BobBob-zg4tm
      @BobBob-zg4tm 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You've probably found this out by now but in answer to your question, the Phantom is a " proper " drone , fully RADIO controlled, while the Bebop is WiFi, with WiFi you get limited range, and noticeable lag when controlling the drone. You do however get the option of FPV(line streaming of what the drone is seeing) but above a certain range, if you can't see the drone and you try to control it based on the video feed, the last will renew it almost unusable. Add to that the low storage, poor quality and visibility and inability to withstand any but the lightest breeze, and it's clear that this is really just a toy. And that's fine, that's what Parrot does. With the sky controller, which enables radio control, its a more appealing prospect, but not only is it still too light, too underpowered, and too low in battery life, its also the same price as the Phantom with camera gimple, if you add the sky controller. The Phantom is quite simply, brilliant, it has so many more features, and a whole slew of uses. Another point is that for much less than the price of a skycontroller, you can pick up a starter FPV kit. A pair of goggles and a transmitter, Real FPV is lower quality video than WiFi but has a far better range of up to around 20 kilometres with the right antenna and is seperately powered so it doesn't use your battery like the built in camera on the Bebop. And no lag, because it is transmitted in a different format with much more powerful equipment. At the end of it the Phantom is a much much better choice, especially if you already have a gopro.

I have watched this video comparison and multiple others and they pretty much all say the same thing. The BEBOP is pretty good, especially for an entry level drone. Everyone here seems to think its a piece of junk but all the professional websites and reviewers think otherwise. For $500 total you get the BEBOP, Im gonna give it a shot!

    Waj - I had a quick question regarding the Parrot. Does it have a 'follow' mode? I'm a cycling coach, and I also teach cyclist safety, and was wondering if there was a 'Lead' or 'follow' option for the Parrot that played off of a BT signal, say, maybe from a phone in a jersey pocket or such. I know battery life is limited on these quads, but I have to believe we could build some significant and good short videos explaining lane position, hidden hazards in the 2-d plane, and site lines as well as striping on roads. Do either of these units offer that? Do any?

    Do you really need a FPV- kit with the Phantom? is there no chance to stream form the Gopro and how is the lagg if its possible? Cheers and great video :) now one step closer to getting my second drone :D

      @Ben7seven7 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tim Lundborg Turning wifi on a GoPro will not only have very limited range as well as some lag. More importantly if you have it on an aircraft that uses 2.4ghz to control it (which most do) then you will crash the craft, it's happened to others. You need a proper FPV system operating on a difference frequency than the control if you want live video from any flying platform that does not include it's own integrated FPV system. You can get FPV systems in varying power output and frequencies including 1.2ghz 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz with 5.8ghz being the most popular. Combine that with good circular polarized and helical antennas and you'll have good range and quality of signal.

    I would really want to ask about the resistance of the Parrot Bebop against wind. Also, how stable is it while flying.

    • @vandelayindustries2274
      @vandelayindustries2274 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It locks into its position using GPS, so if it gets blown away by the wind, it just flies back. Flying with it has been pretty stable for me.

    Sooo ive been looking at getting into this hobby for a while but the only thing that scares me is the price tag. I deff want to get something that has a gps system so that i can do long range flights if i wanted to so i was actually looking at the DJI F550. Can you give me some generic price of what i may be looking at without all the bells and whistles?

    As soon as you said the bebops battery was difficult i denounced this review. All you have to do is grab the connector within the bebop and then plug the battery in....I could do it in about 10 seconds and that includes replacing the old one...
    I am not going to get started about how you compared the gp4 to the bebop camera.
    Also did you compare there durability?
    Try to crash that phantom into a tree and see what happens...

  • @VENTSHD
    @VENTSHD 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you use the wifi setting on your phone with the phantom, or does it have no range?

    • @DirtyLew42
      @DirtyLew42 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you connect your GoPro to your phone while flying, you run the risk of destroying your drone because the GoPro connects to your phone via wifi and I don't know the reason behind this, but when the GoPro gets out of range of the phone, it messes with the drone, and the drone loses connection with the controller. This happened to me, and I happened to take off under a tree, so when the drone returned to home, it got stuck 100 feet in the air.

    • @alex-k2h6g
      @alex-k2h6g 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Lewis Busch-Vogel the phantom 2 uses 2.4ghz for control, the GoPro uses wifi, wifi uses 2.4ghz so it makes sense for it to interfere but it shouldn't
