    Maggie, I want to thank you. I got my colostomy two weeks ago and hopefully it is a reversible colostomy but mine was emergent when my diverticulitis exploded. Anyway, woke up after surgery and was devastated. Watching your videos, I have really begun to realize that there is life with this thing and that I really can have a semi normal life. I am 50 years old and spent a good three or four days just feeling sorry for myself until I found your site and videos. Thank you for all the help and advice. I am hoping to start to return to reality tomorrow after my trip to the surgeon. God Bless you girl!

    I have Crohn’s too and my mother is an alcoholic. But fortunately she’s recovered...more or less. It was hell for most of my life and she only pulled herself together when I was hospitalized for 22 months and on the verge of death for 8 of those. She suddenly had an epiphany, seeing me suffer and realizing how fortunate she was for being healthy but at the same time ruining her body out of choice. Unfortunately my father, though not absent wasn’t helpful whatsoever.
    I’m glad you have a dad that is so supportive and hands-on.

    I have Crohn's disease nearly 40 years and I have learned more from you Maggie in the past week about Crohn's disease and ileostomys than I have learned from my surgeons , stoma nurse and dietitian. Thank you as I now understand a lot more now . Blessings to you and Zak . Including pups and chickens. .

    I could seriously adopt you😊 you are what helps me but there is a funny pull to you…I had three kids of my own and now 8 grandkids.. but your love for life and resilience and easy manner are truly endearing. I am four days out from stoma surgery and my husband and I watch you together. It has helped SO much. I have a deep faith in God but I did not find Him in church.. rather outside in all of His creation as a child. I have the same rescue instincts as you and have taken in many a lost soul. So my dear I only want to say I know God is using you in a special way. I have about 5 autoimmune diseases but I do NOT let that run my life. I wish you so much and I literally fall asleep listening to you because you feel like one of my kids..sorry if it sounds weird but it is true.. for all your trials you are fearless and loving…and a gift to all of us who anticipate more Maggie stories! Keep your chin up and enjoy your life you deserve the best! xo

    My mother was an alcoholic, she’s been sober for 30 some odd years. I am thankful everyday for her that she finally saw the light. I don’t think I’d be here if she haven’t gotten sober. She was sober before I was born. I never saw her drunk but I got to see my uncle drunk numerous time. It’s never easy.

    Randomly came across this older video and HAVE to tell you how much I relate to your communion story! So, I was the same, baptized Catholic as a baby, but not raised in the church at all. But, my aunt is. She married into the family when I was 9, and I was maybe 11-12 at this point. After spending the night, my options were to stay home with my uncle, or go to church with my aunt. I thought it would be more fun than staying home, and had grown up with a best friend from a devout Catholic family, so had been to mass a handful of times when I was younger, and figured I'd be fine. When my friends' parents took communion, they left us both in the pew to wait, and I never realized what it was. I know there's a lot of sitting/standing/kneeling, so I think nothing of it when people start moving into the aisle. We get about half way up and I realize what is happening and immediately panic. I tried to turn around, but was stuck, so I start trying to watch the people in front of me, but I'm too short to see anything. So, it gets to my turn and I just STAND there and STARE at the priest hoping for some help and none comes. After what feels like forever, my aunt steps in, and instead of telling me what to do, just pushes me out of the way, and then tells me to follow her. I am absolutely mortified and realize I can never set foot in that church again. And of course she tells my mom when I get picked up, who I blame for never telling me how it worked. I could never tell if she was embarrassed on my behalf or thought it was amusing.

    Maggie, so courageous of you to share with all of us..you are truly such a beautiful person both inside and out. Your videos inspire me everyday. I have had three ostomy surgeries..emergency due to diverticulitis which I realize is different than your illness, however I certainly can relate to having both s colostomy and an ileostomy as I've had both..everything reversed in July...however, I would definitely take an ostomy over the severe pain of a bowel disorder...I thank God that for today I am doing well without an ostomy..Look forward to future videos..loved your dog story..I too am a true blue dog lover...my fur baby is a mini schnauzer..💜🐕😊

    Thanks for opening up! I had severe asthma as a kid too, also cats were a huge trigger and my eyes would swell shut if I petted them too much, it was the 80s back then so the nebulizers were huge and loud and scary. Luckily my asthma cleared up even though my allergies didnt. No inhaler for 10+ years!

    • @LetsTalkIBD
      @LetsTalkIBD  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is exactly how I was with cats! Oh my gosh they are huge! We got mine in the mid 90's so maybe a little smaller but not too much better! Haha! That is awesome though! It seems like so many grow out of the symptoms!

    Maggie!!!! This was a super sweet video!!! The story of getting the host was funny. It happens. You didn't know what to do. 😄 Not as bad as what my daughter ((teenager at the time)) did at church. Had this rule that NO iPods for music goes into church. Your there to pay attention. Welllll ... my daughter sneaked her headphone & iPod into the church. ((you can see where I'm going with this)) As we were bowing ours heads in prayer, somehow her iPod thing went off and do you know what it played?? "Waking The Demon" by Black Veil Brides!!!! *Everyone's* head that was bowed down in prayer popped up and the *looks* we got that day, wow!!! It was enough *too* wake a demon!! Yikes!! 😬 Frantically my daughter was trying to shut it off and when she got it off, she looks up at everyone and says, "Sorry.,.. sorry, ... sorry." So, you see, your story isn't *that* bad. 😄😂
    🌼have a great day🌼

As I’ve mentioned before, you helped me tremendously before my surgery. I’m glad I found your videos to help me on this new journey. I can call any of them and they will be there for me. My husband and I have been married 29 years and we have a 24 year old daughter. With everything I’ve been through medically they are always there for me. I just got my Ostomy 5 weeks ago and still struggling with it. Mentally and physically. I’m binge watching your videos and Amber’s videos. They are awesome and very informative.

    Well, honestly, I don’t have the greatest relationship with my brothers either. It makes me sad, but it is what it is. We even had the same parents! One brother I grew up with a pretty bad relationship with, the other I got along with well but hardly ever see any,more and he only lives 30-40 miles away. I think religion is a difficult thing. I grew up in the church, so I do have beliefs, but it is also has been very disturbing to me to see so many “Christians” who come across as so judgmental and inflexible. I think holding on to a belief in God is an evolutionary process. I mean, a lot of us believe more in science, but at the same time want to believe that there is something bigger out there.
