3:30 That's not a mind games or hyping up kind of thing.
I don't know how it is in the US, but in Germany we take legal formalities pretty seriously.
They are, in all likelyhood, legally required to ask that question so that they can transfer accountability for serious injury to the participants.
If the participants affirm, they are now consciously participating in a test that might cause them serious injury "auf eigene Gefahr" (at one's own risk).
Even people in university are asked if they feel physically and mentally fit to take an exam.
Pretty sure that there's a general rule that you have to ask that question, otherwise people can claim that they weren't given a proper chance to succeed.
at university they ask because if you get sick during the exam a doctor has to prove it just happened during the exam and you were fit before, so people don't "cheat" and see the exam, realize it's too hard and back out by faking being sick. maybe here they don't want to give a free second try too haha
This is the most German comment I’ve ever read! 🤣
Never heard that question in an exam, all my way to a masters degree.
I mean that question is also asked before endterm exams.

As a swede ( with 3 years in service, 1 year abroad) working alot in Germany this was great!
The question "are you mentally and physically capable and ready to do xyz" is actually pretty common in the Bundeswehr. I think there's a rule stating that you have to ask that before any major exercise. Not everybody does it that formal but you hear it every now and then.
Since I hear this before all of my exams in university it has to be some sort of law here in Germany.
It also prevents people to claim some kind of medical problem afterwards if they fail.
@@Cedrikkkk I heard it now and then, but not always, in my time with the bundeswehr and throughout my university years. I always perceived it as some sort of common and polite reassurance that the soldiers and students feel well to do a certain task rather than a mandatory question.
As far as i know it's just a subtle way to give everyone a last chance to solve minor issues or (in the worst case) withdraw without too much hassle before heading into the tasks ahead.
luckys1evin Okay then it seems to be something special for our university, I never had an exam where this question hasn’t come up :D

What might be of interest to you - in the final assessment scene, the man with the moustache speaking is a general. While talking to the staff seargeant he uses the informal, more personal version of "you" ('du' instead of the formal 'Sie'). A general speaking on the same level to a seargeant like theyre some old friends is something you'll only find in this unit
That’s what the tell was, that the OFw has passed.
You can actually compare the "Du" to the old English "thou". Over the centuries, just the polite plural "you" remained. In Germany, we still have the formal and informal version.
Actually, my Hauptmann talked with his Spieß (CSM, according to Wikipedia) quite often with the "Du" - but only when they were in the GeZi (pretty much the Main office of the company)
And to completed this: the general sown in the video serving at that time was hans-christoph ammon
@@NFreund which is quite common if these soldiers have been working together for some time.
In this case I don't think the General and OFw have ever had a conversation. At the beginning the General addresses him as "Herr OFw, Sie" and later switches to "Du", which was the sign that he is now one of them.
