- A first ever visit to the February Whitby Steam Punk Festival and what a fantastic day it was. A dry and misty day saw a great turn out of people who had all come to enjoy the Steam Punk weekend and what a great bunch of people they were too. I met and talked to quite a few on my walk down to the Pavilion, checking out the stalls , then walking down to West Cliff, on to the harbour and finally up to Whitby Abbey, which was looking very atmospheric in all the mist. Even a £50 parking ticket on my car when I got back could not spoil this brilliant day out. If you have never been before, the next one will be in July - come down, dress up, join in the fun and meet some wonderful people!

Fun dress up event. Love the name Steam Punk Festival. Would love to have a top hat and tails. Looks like the cars and dogs dress up too! Money, ha that is funny. People come from far and wide for the Whitby. Superb steam punk atmosphere. Fun to see Nick and Jill too. Thanks for the good times👍

Such a fun day out and Whitby is only 50 miles away from us, so a please we visit several times a year, every year. Even a £50 car parking fine could not spoil this day for me. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

It never ceases to amaze me the friendliness of everyone at these festivals. It's so nice to see so many smiling faces and people so pleased to stop & chat & tell you all about themselves. The outfits are amazing and no two alike so obviously each be individually created with lots of enhusiasm So many different stalls to choose from too for the outfit for future dates perhaps..How nice to bump into Nick &Jill 😍 You found a nice quiet spot for fish n chips .. an absolute essential but then I spied a cake shop 😀 Oh what a downer to end up with one of those horrid yellow stickers 😣 Fabulous shots of the sea but didn't look like a day for a swim!!
Not a day for a swim for sure, the sea was wild and same about the parking ticket to end the day but nothing was going to spoil my mood as the whole day was amazing. Not as big as the Goth Festivals but just as friendly and just as much fun too. I was on the way home when I spotted Nick and Jill so (ticket apart) made a brilliant end to the day. Looks like a fun festival to attend. My wife would love this time of event, especially if it were Halloween time. Lots of interesting and unusual items on display. YT is definitely not for the money yet but I have heard of people doing pretty well. Looks like you had a great time visiting the sights and interviewing people. So fun. Have a wonderful day.
It you get the big views you make some money but it will never be for the small channels despite the time, effort and money we put into it. Whitby is a great place to have the
Steam Punk Festival! Cool atmosphere at the coast, great to see the crashing waves and the protected harbor. The Church and graveyard are kind of spooky too! I’m not sure I would know how to dress for steam punk, I enjoyed seeing all the people you met and their style. 👌 Your top hat and jacket looked perfect! I liked the car and bikes tricked out too. Thanks very much for stopping by and we both love Whitby, only 50 miles from home so we so throughout the year but this was my first visit to the Steam Punk Festival. Not as big as the Goth festivals held there but just as much fun and just as friendly too. Steampunk clothing is often inspired by the industrial revolution, combined with Victorian fashion top hats, silk dresses, waistcoats but with a punky, working class twist like goggles and work boots, cheers Alan

Fantastic place and really looks like a great time. I never knew what it was about till you said the description of theme. Really neat. Love the abbey and the cemetery,creepy but very cool. We could have spent hours poking around the head stones. Thanks for taking us along 👍👍
Whitby is a real interesting place and the church and Abbey always blow my mind. Some of the head stones there go back hundreds of years but there are many without an inscription as they were unknowns washed up on the beach after a shipwreck, which there were a lot of at Whitby. Especially a horror theme. I'm wanting to go to one of these now, so I can dress fancy as well. Wow, the hats and jewelry caught my eye! 💜the streets are so adorable and the fish and chips sound yummy, with a nice stout brew

You should Lynne I went to both of them last year and they were great, brilliant atmosphere each time. This was the first time that I had been to the Steam Punk Festival and although it is not as big as the Goth festivals, it was still a fantastic day out with brilliant people. Excellent musical selection. I was continually reminded of the movie Clockwork Orange. That looked like a cool festival. It seems I will be riding the chemo train once again, with a new drug this time around. 🤙

Maybe taking the new chemo drug will be the kick in the arse to make a few new videos. It’s been a while since I made a proper, edited video. My reason was to show other brain tumor survivors that there is life after treatment. The other reason I started a channel was to have a sort of log of my treatment and the physical/mental effects it has on an individual.

Glad you enjoyed it and it was just a fun day. When I parked it was supposed to be full sunshine, I got out of the car and it stared to rain, so I went back in the car again for 20 minutes. It was not too bad after that but today, the second day of the festival, it was rain all day, which is such a shame for the people who have travelled a long way to be there. Well we throughly enjoyed your day at the steam punk festival along with you Alan! The thing that struck us most was how friendly everyone was, happy to stand on the street and have a chat, a rare occurrence these days for sure! 😊👌. Ooh the stalls with all the weird and wonderful curiosities looked fab too! The costumes were incredible, oh my goodness, steam punk dogs! How adorable ❤🐶. Fish and chips looked yummy, had to be done! 😋. Yikes there you were just talking about the expense of making you tube videos, and now you can add a parking fine to that ☹️. I've always wondered exactly what steam punk is. I knew it had something to do with brass and copper pipe and gears 😂. This had a definite English flavor to it. Very interesting thanks for sharing Allen.

I have been going to Whitby for over 30 years and never seen it so packed as it was last Halloween for the Goth Festival but the atmosphere was brilliant, a real fun and friendly day. Cracking job Alan, particularly around the stalls in the Pavillion! Love that car, he’d come all the way from Liverpool in that! I bet the event in Morecambe will be a good one, they have had a few years off for covid so this years event will be smashing! The lovely Drapers, we finally got together thankfully. One thing I forgot to say was yes, I think a lot of people get a shock when they start a channel as they thing they are going to make loads of money ha! Only been once. What a great place with the harbour but the graveyard and the ruins are iconic. You can't not write Dracula having seen that place. Best wishes.

It was such a good day and the people so friendly too. The market stalls were real interesting to look around and I always have to go to the Abbey when ever I am in Whitby, it is always so atmospheric. The weather was nt the best but at least it stayed dry, the following day it the festival was a complete wash out, so I sure picked the right day to go. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan

There were at lease a hundred cars all parked in a line all the way down the prom, still unsure why they picked on me. The only thing I can think of is, if you are opposite a guest house, those spaces have to be left for their guests and they given a disk to place in their car while you are stopping there. Ooh Alan, you looked very dapper! ❤ I always enjoy videos of the Steam Punk Festival. Btw, you made a typo in the title...you've called it "Stream" Punk. Might be a good idea to change that, lol! The costumes were fabulous. People are so creative and imaginative. It was lovely to see inside some of the shops. You are so right in saying the money you make from YT is peanuts and the costs of making videos far outweigh what you get back financially. But, it is more than just the money for those of us who carry on 😊Oh my, those fish and chips looked so delicious. Wish we could get fish and chips like that over here. Oh thank you so much for that my dyslexia strikes ago, I never noticed, neither did Mrs Metalman who always proof reads everything I write lol. I always laugh when people thing you are going to make loads of money on TH-cam and yes some people do but the majority never even cover their costs, so for me my channel was never about making money. The Steam Punk Festivals are not as big as the Goth festivals at Whitby but just as friendly and just as much fun and those fish n chips never fail to hit the sport. Yes they do but on an evening and I did not fancy the drive back over the Moors in the dark but a real fun weekend festival, the people were amazing. Mrs Metalman was feeling a bit off colour or she would have come as she loves Whitby. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
