    Aaron Pryor was a fighter that was constantly in perpetual motion swaying in from left and right attacking from all angles. Because of this however his general boxing abilities often got overlooked so that's what I wanted to showcase here. Pryor was a good amateur and achieved all time great status in the professional ranks, he even has a win over Thomas Hearns! The Hawk at his best. www.patreon.com/haNZAgod

      What’s your opinion on the “mixed drink” controversy? Do you think he’d been using that to boost his stamina in previous other fights?

    • @hanzagod
      @hanzagod  3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@JonP1245 Very difficult to say because I just don't know. The only one that I know of is the first Arguello fight and it definitely puts an asterisk next to that win for me. Either way though a fantastic fighter and I rate him highly.

      @@JonP1245 I just think it's a little unfair to judge his whole career just on that 1 fight though. I can't think of too many of his fights where he even had to go a lot of rounds prior to the Arguello bout

    What Willie Pep did with the L/V step defensively and for counter punching, The Hawk did offensively and for pressure fighting. Phenomenal video showcasing how he uses traditionally defensive movements to position himself perfectly and become one of the most aggressive offensive boxers of all time. Aaron Pryor was a very well-rounded boxer. There was no attribute of boxing ability that he performed badly in. With that being said, Ray Leonard is at least one notch above Pryor, if we compare the two at their best. Leonard was very strong for a welterweight, had some of the fastest hands in boxing history as well as some of the best footwork in history. He was extremely intelligent and knew how to adapt to any style of boxing. He would simply be too much for Pryor at any point of their careers but that’s just my take

    • @SuperAttitudeera
      @SuperAttitudeera 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Actually the truth is that Pryor was saying he wanted to fight Leonard but when he was offered the fight he declined it saying he wouldn't get paid enough even thou it would've been the biggest pay of his career at the time. He was also offered Duran and declined it, so he can only blame himself for not creating a better legacy.

      @TainoMantis 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      "If Duran beat Ray the way he did Pryor would have steamrolled Ray"
      No. Comparing Pryor's skillset (that of an elite swarmer) to Durán's (an elite boxer-puncher) is ridiculous. Pryor often left himself *too* wide open in his attempt to land a high volume of punches. The shots Argüello hit him with in their first fight would have been many times worst versus Leonard / Durán.

    • @bennylevine387
      @bennylevine387 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It never takes long for someone like this to surface any time Aaron Pryor is discussed. Leonard beats Hearns, Hagler, Benitez, and Duran. Pryor beats an aging moving up in weight Arguello. But then they wanna make it like it comes down to who Leonard didn't fight. Astounding reasoning. Like how many great fighters does Leonard need to fight between 1979-1981 to appease you haters? And how many weight divisions he is responsible for conquering? Can you name any other fighter who is required to take on every relevant opponent from junior welter all the way up to middleweight? Because that's all you're doing. You're calling out Ray Leonard for not taking on every opponent from three divisions. Meanwhile, Pryor gets a pass for staying at 140 where there was no one. He coulda dropped pounds and gotten some big fights at lightweight. He never moved up. So why is this all on Ray?
