Lance getting counter thrust back in the form of charged counter is huge. Also having a strong followup as a reward for landing perfect guard/power guard was needed as previously it was just a little shield bash. I think Lance is in a good state now after these changes. Glad Insect glaive got an offset, but still sad that all 3 extracts are needed for strong moveset. To me, it is still unclear when we are expected to use strong moveset (regular combos) if the new loop has me wanting to spend all extracts on rising spiral as soon as I get them. Moving strong moveset back to just red extract would fix this as you could get red then get the other 2 by using moveset +focus mode, then look to use all 3 for spiral. However, it looks like big changes like this will not be implemented, so just have to see how it plays out at launch.
Rising Spiral requires a decent window to deal its full damage. Trying to spam it can result in a costly wifi. So enhanced move set works while waiting, also though it's awkward, while strong Descending is charging.
I’m curious/hopeful that the Focus skill will speed up the lock on speed for Bow. The delay was a needed adjustment and allowing build craft to adjust it makes it even better IMO.
As a Lance Main I think the changes look fantastic and I’m looking forward to what they are doing with Lance. They also mentioned speeding up Guard Dash which is good. I be happy if they could add in Shield Charge/Rush into Lance’s moveset as I love the move. It’s funny how IG got a Offset but Lance didn’t as the counter weapon lol
Super happy with the tracer arrow nerf. I really hope it won't give you permanent max charge level anymore, since that completely invalidates the weapon's core mechanic and plummets its skill ceiling
Yeah I was hoping they would show it in the video so I could count arrows lmao I would be totally fine with keeping damage numbers the same but removing the "always max charge" thing because as you said, you have no reason to keep charges going if you don't need to plus the dodging getting stamina back thing will ALSO be more important because if you aren't dodging you won't be keeping up your stamina which means you can't keep max charge. We will see, I shall test as soon as we load into that very first mission with the barrel lol
As a Charge Blade main since MH4, I love the AED > SAED so I hope they don't change that. I'm glad they're focusing on buffing the weaker weapons rather than nerfing to the ground the strongest ones. They could also do a tutorial alerting players that certain attacks can launch you, but then you get to do an aerial attack. Ever since they added mounting, I haven't minded getting launched so much. I get it though, they want to keep new players.
When you're launched in Monster Hunter, you are susceptible to taking damage even though you have the chance of completing a mount (which happens most of the time in a random lobby), even at the very beginning of being launched. Idk if things have changed, but certain knockdowns in monster hunter gives s and the knockdown they showed looked like one. If you are stunned your teammate can literally save you with this new change if the hit is timed right.
I'm not like super against it it's just one of those things where I hope we don't keep heading down the path of adjusting things about the game to get rid of any friction because there's some friction that kinda makes MH what it is if you know what I mean
Hey! Completely unrelated to this video, but I just played against you in Rumble. I haven’t watched your videos in a while, but I remembered your name! I was Riven of a Thousand Waifus. Good game!
Unfortunately that wasn't me. I don't play Destiny anymore and haven't been on for anything other than holding a checkpoint since the beginning of Revenant but yeah, pretty done with the game. Good to know that person is still out there gaming though hahaha
I heard a rumor they might make changes to allow the game to run in lower hardware with reduced visuals, which would be incredible. (Even them uttering the idea of it, was like music to my ears!) I can run MHW at full settings, but this game looks really really visually striking even compared to MHW, so I'm hoping my setup is strong enough to experience this game when it's released. Also it's good to see the Lance getting some tweaks as well.
They are definitely doing a lot to lower the system requirements overall and improve performance, really hope they end up giving us that benchmark tool!
I wasn't too keen on the MHWilds Insect Glaive but enjoyed the Bow, so was thinking about switching my main weapon for this game, but now with the offset move and aerial bounce back I'm considering going back, but still wanna play Bow. Definitely gonna have Bow and IG as my 2 weapons and as long as I got stamina skills on the weapons or armour it will help with both weapons as need good stamina/regen for both of those weapons.
@Ms5000Watts plus the fact you still have the option of the ground moves etc with the rising spiral slash and the airborne combat too. May be the best version of the IG they have done.
I feel the hammer upswing is just even worse now lol, before if you got launched you at least had a possible mount opportunity now its just a knockdown lol
Switch Axe ping pong was part of its identity, all gone... You train new players to your game, you don't change the game for new players. A game for everyone is a game for no one... Any game smaller than World at this point is going to be considered a failure.
I admit, I'm a world baby. Things were already super comfy for me compared to the experience old school players had, but I seriously hope they don't continue this mindset of making things simpler for new players. I'm seriously worried that the game will lose part of its identity and become more Elden Ring than monster hunter. Nothing wrong with Elden Ring, it's just not what this game is supposed to be. I want this game to be deliberate, requiring making choices and prepping for a fight.
Hey being a world baby is fine! World has a lot of stuff still remaining in it like I think it's fine to make pickaxes not a one time use for example but yeah, there's some things especially the way tracking is where I'm like...please be careful taking away too much lol

Yeah I would love that! Giving us more things to build into if we want to do that is always a good thing imo

I am genuinely so excited to see what lance players come and tell me about their weapon after they get their hands on this lol
Counter weapon?
It has a literal shield.. for blocking.
@blazenfate
Lance is the OG counter weapon in Monster Hunter. It's the whole point of the weapon.
Edit some reason the @ broke
IG offset hype let's gooooo!
Super happy to see this!

So early video quality didn't even load yet 😈
Welcome to 360p gamers 😂
at 1:03:35 you can see the the next target starts charging right after the second tick of the current one finishes, that's so cool a detail.
Yeah it's really cool, I feel like the audio is more obvious as well when it comes to the target locking

PERFORMANCE!!! Word of the year 2025!
i hope lance will get more "drill-like" attacks like the new move in the future.

@Ms5000Watts 100% agree, it really is worrying

Im so happy about the lance changes
So happy to hear it!
Watts' energy always brings a smile, cool vibes all around
You're so kind thank you
Glad they finally confirmed support for ps5 pro
IT WAS HUGE TO SEE!

lance goes "stabby stabby guard guard"
Tell me more lance master

Yeah I absolutely LOVE what they did with IG now, getting an offset was awesome

like your take abt the friendly fire portion abt friendly fire being an integral FUN core part of MH BRING BACK UPSWING OR RIOT
I feel the hammer upswing is just even worse now lol, before if you got launched you at least had a possible mount opportunity now its just a knockdown lol
100% agree lol I was saying that I would prefer to get swung around than knocked on my ass, at least one is funny and potentially a good move! lol
I missed it all, watching YT video as instructed lol
Thank you sir lmao
im way too hyped for this
i have been saved multiple times from certain death because of being stun by upswing launches XD i would miss it greatly T^T
YES AND WHEN YOU FLY IT'S SO GOOD
Switch Axe ping pong was part of its identity, all gone... You train new players to your game, you don't change the game for new players. A game for everyone is a game for no one... Any game smaller than World at this point is going to be considered a failure.
lol this will probably be "enhanced" on ps6 im ok with 1080p tho.... games used to be 480p in my lifetime
i want the upswing stuff but its ok... i blame gunlance. no fun allowed if gunlance is OP
I enjoy watching your monster hunter takes. Never change, Still think Nerscylla will come back
Thank you so much! I'm working on getting multistreaming set up so we can just do these talks live on youtube as well AND I AGREE I THINK SO TOO!
That bow focus strike is sooooooo slowww RIP T.T
If you’re trying to lock on to multiple the entire way yeah
They should have nerf damage instead now it brakes the feeling of power of this move …
tbh it's probably better than us stealing every wound from the weapons that actually benefit from wound breaks like insect glaive
