    Amazing passage and nice that you had the winds, waves and slamming emphasize, without load music, the most challenging parts of the journey. Thanks.

    Well done so far.I think the dolphins gather at the ships traveling in the same direction,maybe its safer for them.Amazing to watchWhat energy they have so go this speed.Thank you for the underwater pictures.

      We reckon it's to have a bit of fun, just like they sometimes catch waves at a beach. We'd like to also think they like human company....

    I'd be done sailing after living through a wicked storm like that... I guess that's why I've always been a biker. not a sailor... LOL...
    I've ridden through some tough storms on two wheels over the 40 some years of rambling across the USA.
    But I was usually close to somewhere that I could set out the storms safely.
    I was a nerves wreck just watching you kids ride out that ugly storm with no where to go BUT through it.
    I praise God for keeping y'all safe. It show that God dose hear and answer our prayers we pray for you kids...
    Much love, be blessed in Jesus name... BBE...

      Yeah, but it does make you feel alive! And we've trekked and ridden through some nasty storms as well - makes you appreciate the times when it's just average!

    I thought Aiden did well, you can be proud of him and you young man you will remember these days for the rest of your life give yourself a pat on the back. If not already you should start a journal of your adventures even if it just one or two lines at the end of each day. It will be something you can look back on with pride who knows maybe even a book.

    • @Expedition_Tranquilo
      @Expedition_Tranquilo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes he definitely did well. Typically the first day at sea is a bit tough for him with sea sickness, but he's pretty much on top of it after two days sailing! And there's a journal, part of his school work!

    Excellent music @ 5:17 and what is covering your face @ 5:44? LOL..... Maybe the best natural sound and music sequence through 7:18 since you began the journey ! Thanks for holding onto it! Think about visualizing more sail changes, mooring and docking on camera so we can share in the experience. A camera locked down on a wide shot would help us out a lot. Please and thank you.

    Did predict wind predict the strong headwinds? Why would you leave with that forecast?

    • @sailingavocet
      @sailingavocet 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      good question

    • @Expedition_Tranquilo
      @Expedition_Tranquilo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes great question - Fil went into it in the previous episode - we had another big low coming in afterwards (you can hear it coming in at the end of this episode), and typically the weather gets worse and worse later in the season, so we made a call to go in this 4-day window.

    • @sailingseaquel848
      @sailingseaquel848 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ah fair enough.. sometimes you’ll sit forever waiting for the perfect forecast.. dealing with 20kn headwinds for couple days is horrible though.. but sometimes you’ve just gotta go

    I would like to know the real reason for Dolphins swimming along side of the keel.

    • @Expedition_Tranquilo
      @Expedition_Tranquilo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We honestly think it's because they like playing in the waves generated by yachts and ships, just like dolphins like to play in the surf at beaches. Perhaps they're also curious about us?

  • @wally07

    That auto pilot is working hard! Any trouble with it?

    • @Expedition_Tranquilo
      @Expedition_Tranquilo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's impressive, couldn't do without it particularly at night. It did have trouble downwind in big steep waves, coming close to accidentally jibing so needed to come off the wind a bit.
