    I loved seeing where you have all moved to. It will take time to reorganise your working space and once your shelving units are in place I hope you have 'fun' deciding what goes where🤔 Maybe a large rug in front of the tv will help to dampen down any 'noise'. Reminds me of when I lived in Greece & Cyprus - just blinds at the windows and marble floors. Curtains and carpet helped to make it more homely and less echoey (is that a word?). Good to see you have lots of cupboards in the kitchen and other areas for storing 'stuff'. The 'grass' won't need watering, will conserve any rain water and keep the water bills down 🥵 Looking forward to seeing an update once your room is finished. Good to know everything is going to plan for now. Hope you'll be happy in your new home 🥰

    Welcome to Arizona, specifically The Valley - which is how we refer to the Phoenix metropolitan area - it's a great place to live. That bathroom looks very much like the one in the last house I lived in in the west valley. I came to really like the layout. Really happy to have you here. Just remember the Spring weather when July and August come. LOL

      Thanks! We’re already conditioned to temps over 100. My daughter’s boss and his family moved here last June from the same city in Florida. They said sure it’s hot but without the Florida humidity it’s an easy adjustment. We’re enjoying the cooler weather while Florida has been much warmer. I’ve been hearing the term the valley on the news and the radio. I do enjoy being able to close the door to the toilet room which saves my toilet paper from the cats 😉 It is a bit different not having a door to the actual bathroom but I think I like that too. My kids have already learned not to just walk into my room. I’ve never seen a walk-in closet in the bathroom but It works. It’s good to shake things up a little after living in the same town for 42 years.

    Looks like you have lots of space to spread out. Lots of bathroom space. Once you get organized it will be great with your mini sitting area, work area and sleeping area. The cats lokks like their getting comfortable with their new home too. 😮 Yea those lights are wayyyyy up there aren't they. Love the yarn storage area 😅 we all do things like that. There is some beautiful yarn in there and yeah don't blame you for bringing it all with you. It always takes time to get organized, then you see or get something and do it all again. 😂 Lots of wall space for you. 😊 Mini putt putt area, you should get a small set for you and the kids😂. Nice backyard, and I totally understand not doing too much since not sure how long you'll be there and rental space. Unless landlord offers to buy plants, but guessing with water situation that would be no. You have patio area so you'll be able to do your grilling and small table area and your plants to enjoy the outside in morning or night when not too hot. 😊😊 Nice little quiet space your son has set up for himself, good for him.😊 It will take time and you have some great space to work with. Enjoy your weekend and remember to relax some too not just working on getting house together. 😊😊❤

    Hi Robin!
    Ive been watching and I am so happy you all made it safe n sound! I will be back in Arizona at end of August/ Sept and I am soooooo excited to be back Home! 🌵☀ I have 4 grandkids and 3 kids in Surprise. 🤗🌺❤🥰 Yes, that area where the tv is ...is "technically" the formal dining area... but we never used it as that either.... we did what you guys did and made it one big living room!🤗 Love the house tour. Thanks for taking us on a walk through. The one thing I dislike the most about a lot of the houses is. how they put the closet in the bathroom. 👎 Not my favorite. You can find some where it's not in the bathroom... but it seems more common to have them in the bathroom. The "toilet room"... I call it the Privacy Poop Throne! 😂 I think the official term is "water closet". S'morse is so cute!❤ Yes, Yarn is crazy expensive now!!!😳 Everything is so expensive anymore. I'm glad to have my "stash" ... I love all your fabric in the closet!!! 🤗❤ What a great big closet to store everything! yay! Moving is soooo much work and I know you will get it all organized and looking amazing in no time! I caught your live on the replay and I'm excited for the "community quilt". I can't wait to see all the blocks that everyone sends in. 👍🏻🌸I wonder if you can find a nice corner bookshelf so that you can access the corners of your closet without hitting head / shoulders?! Might be a solution maybe. 👍🏻 you can make the weird ledge in the room as a "cat walk" 😜 Thanks for sharing Robin. Yes, Cookie cutter neighborhoods. 😂😂😂😂 You'll get used to it.

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I struggle with all of the brown houses because I find my way around by turning right at the yellow house. Take a left at the huge mango tree etc 😉The closet is a nice size, it’s just weird for It to be in the bathroom. I guess It keeps It out of the main bedroom and there’s no door in a weird spot along the wall 🤷‍♀️

    Robin, thanks for the house tour. I like how you are focusing on essentials first while also staging items for their future spaces.
    The following is just because we moved recently and your tour reminded me.
    One of the first things we bought after moving to our new house with 10 foot ceilings was an 8 foot ladder. It has made changing lightbulbs and smoke alarm batteries so much easier. Also, since it is a new house, our daughter has used that ladder when putting up ceiling fans and lights. There will be some photos and artwork that will be put up fairly high later.
    The small walk-in closet in my craft room has one of those shelf supports, but mine is closer to head level. I will be adding some pipe insulation or pool noodle with a slit on one side for padding once I finish unpacking the totes that are currently preventing me from getting that far into that closet. 😉 😂
    Our daughter has one of those over the toilet bathroom storage cabinets for the toilet closet in her master bath. Since our bathroom in the new house didn’t have as much storage as we wanted, we bought a similar one at Walmart for our bathroom. While we anchored it at the top to the wall due to our persistent jumping cat, it was much easier than putting up shelves.
    It looks like your house faces north with the back with the patio facing south. Our house faces that way. I like that shading outside living space in the back yard also shades the south facing windows in the summer!

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      My daughter laughed but I said pool noodles for the closet too 🤣. I have Rob’s 6 foot ladder from when he worked construction or around the house. We’ve never needed anything larger but I think I’ll do as you suggested. If the smoke detectors start beeping we’ll be in trouble 🫣

    • @annataylor7226
      @annataylor7226 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks! When we first set up the electric It was so confusing. I believe we have APS and the girl was very sweet and tried explaining the plans to us over and over. We chose a plan that matched closest to what we had in Florida. Back home we didn’t have a choice It was just a flat rate. We were told we can change our plan at any time so we’ll see if we chose correctly. Since we’ve know about the move for a year we’ve been following the chatter on Facebook. I heard about the high costs and what some people did to keep It lower. We have a little time still and then I’ll go into keep the house cool mode. Sun and heat blocking curtains. Limousine window tinting. It helped a lot at my house in Florida. It’s a bit dark inside but who cares if It keeps the electric costs down 😎 My daughter’s boss and his family moved here last June. Their electric was pretty average but their house came with solar panels. We don’t have that option in a rental.

      You’re right. We are all independent adults sharing a house. We each need our space away from each other to do our own thing. I haven’t moved in over 20 years. Like many of us I’m a bit of a collector and it’s taking me a bit to find my groove again 😉. The kids have moved a few times in the past 7 years so they’re more used to It. I guess It helps that their thing is video games. A lot less to pack and unpack 🤣. Now that my daughter is getting into crochet that might change. Thank you for the tour - What a nice place! Beautiful high ceilings too. Have you seen those extension ladders that can either be used vertically or folded to make different configurations? We have one that we used on our RV - they're very neat and very handy to have on hand. Don't know if it's a regional word but in houses where we had a separate toilet area closed off in the bathroom - we called it a "water closet".
    I heard you mention you might have to resort to getting something from TEMU - I have a friend that had a financial nightmare occur with massive funds being withdrawn from her accounts and new accounts being established, etc. etc. - which was all traced back by her financial institutions to a breach with TEMU - yikes! But then I have other friends that use TEMU without any issues.
    Have you considered shopping and purchasing a new chair/loveseat for your room? I enjoy sitting in a recliner and elevating my feet, especially in the evening or whenever I just take a few minutes to relax - really energizing to pop my feet up for just a few minutes.
    Thanks again for the tour! Enjoy your very first bath - I enjoy using Epsom Salt in mine - helps ease my joints.
    Can't wait to see what you do with your place - so very happy for you and your family. Happy crafting!

      I’ve been calling It the poop closet 🤣. Water closet makes sense of course. I haven’t seen much dust yet but that could be because everything is in constant motion until I’ve unpacked and set up my space. Also it’ll change once the ac is running. I’m recognizing road names even though I might be in a new part of the road. At least I have an idea of where I might be. Google maps like to send me somewhere one route and back home a different route 🤔. It’s been interesting.
