Replacing The Steering Coupler On A Classic Beetle

Same Rubber coupling was fitted to the commercial Dodge 50 series (Only built in the UK between 1979 and 1993) vehicles from 3.5 ton to 7.5 ton range, vans, chassis cabs, buses even 4x4 models and to tipper trucks.
slightly different coupling but also riveted in and have to be drilled out like yours.

Rivets came with original couplers, I have a 1974.

Never ever use the red urethane units. OEM and reinforced rubber is where it’s at.
