Lol. Yes, I cannot remember all the things I say in so many videos! Thanks for taking your time out to watch it. I don't get anything for it but it's nice to always get comments from people. Take care!
LOL dang am I that southern? Thank you for the compliment on the video. A pleasant surprise is always welcome! I have some new knives I need to record, just need some time I guess. Thanks again & God bless.
fantastic review buddy! I'm glad you tested the the sharpness on paper coz I was curious to see how sharp that knife's edge. sweet knife and the price is right. Thanks again for the fantastic vid. Erik,
Good review - thanks. Great looking knife. Almost makes me wish I'd waited to get one of these ... I bought a Kabar BK16 earlier this year. Its a good knife, but just a little bit smaller than I'd prefer. I think the Crotalus is just the size I'm looking for.
Man, I'm still loving on it! I did a vid doing a little testing in the middle of the woods just chop/stab test if ur interested. Buy this one, I don't think u will regret it. Plus, it's affordable! Thanks for commenting!
I had my schrade schf37 break just by dropping it in the drive way, we're talking a 1/4" thick 1095 blade, and it broke like glass. I prefer 1075 over 1095. I have knives made from 1095 such as my Ontario 498 (which is awesome) my case xx usmc (which is also made by Ontario) and my ka-bar bk2, but ever since my schrade broke I'm weary about 1095 steel. I really like the condor crotalus, it's like a smaller version of my condor moonshiner both are awesome.
+JOEY AlphaBladeReviews more than likely in sure. I mean their knives are made in China. but aside from that 1095 is a brittle steel. the steel condor uses is one reason I love their products. but like I said, I have other knives made from 1095 and I've never had an issue, but I still prefer 1075. 1075 just offers more, you get the toughness of lower carbon steel, and the great edge retention of 1095, so it's win win. anyone who likes the crotalus should check out the moonshiner , it's the same knife just bigger, the only thing I don't like is the back towards the tip has a swedge.
That would be a total failure of heat treat and Schrade will replace it no questions asked. I have 3 Schrades the schf51,52&42 they all are awesome and hold a great edge esp the Schf 42 which is made in Taiwan they make good 1095 at that factory. I like this crotalus but have you seen the new Swampromper coming out that thing looks awesome.
condor makes great knives. 1075 German steel is one of the best steels for survival knives. Alot of talk about 1075 as if it's a lower grade steel then 1095 and that not true. 1095 is a harder steel which allows it to hold a good edge, but it's hardness is also it's downfall, making the blade more brittle and more likely to break or chip. This is why 1075 is so good, you get great edge retention, it's a little easier to sharpen then 1095, but it's a lower carbon steel so its more durable or tough then 1095. 1075 is almost a perfect steel for survival knives. low carbon steel is tough and durable yet doesn't hold a good edge, and high carbon steel such as 1095 can be brittle, but 1075 is right in the middle with good qualities of both low and high carbon steel, and really the only downside to 1075 is the fact that it can rust, but that's about it. I think more knife companies should use 1075. there is a reason throwing knives are usually made from a lower carbon steel, because they can take a beating, without breaking like 1095. Also the condor crotalus may not be a 1/4 inch thick like some other knives, but it doesn't need to be, due to its 1075 blade. 1095 survival knives are made thick to make up for the brittleness of 1095, but with 1075 the blade doesn't have to be as thick because it is more durable, and tough, and this contributes to a sharper blade and is also easier for feather sticking and things.
good review man, not many people take the time just to show the knife and actually talk about the details of it. alot of reviews I watch are the same old same old, people chopping a limb or two and making feather sticks , and of video lol. Do you have any other videos like this for other knives ?
Almost all my vids are like this. 1075 is a great steel, but comparing it as being better than all 1095 isn't correct IMO. 1075 is a softer steel, so it can be more forgiving to shock than 1095. 1095 holds a slightly better edge in my experience though. Just watch my vids man. I've been researching knives & metallurgy for the 4 years. Not calling you out or nothing like that, but I do love Condor's heat treat & their products. Great value! Thanks!
+JOEY AlphaBladeReviews yes 1095 deffinitely holds a better edge, but I'm just saying for a survival knife, it's nice to know your knife can handle a beating. My Ontario 498 is 1095 steel and it is one of my favorite knives, and Becker bk2 has served me well so far as well. I think condor prices their knives very well, especially for the quality of the knife. alot of brands are going to charge a premium for their name being stamped on it, but condor keeps their knives priced fairly especially for what you get. which so you like more the crotalus or your esse ? I've been debating on getting the esse, or the Ontario blackbird but I haven't found alot of reviews on the blackbird.
Fred Brown Ok, anyway man don't buy the Blackbird. I have it & spine is only 1/8". At 5" blade length, that is brittle too. But, it is on midwayusa.com for $90. I guess it's ok but don't chop with it. I prefer TOPS over ESEE, but ESEE6 is hard to beat.
+Airik1111 Hey again. Seems you're an intelligent guy. That's cool to know about the name! I just wanted to give you a special "THANKS" for subscribing! Sorry it's been a while on videos. I've had recent surgery & have a rare disease recently brought to my attention. I will make some more soon. God Bless, Airik1111. Joey
The ESEE's have a smoother traction coating ...only because they got LESS TRACTION!
😂
Good review. Appreciate it.
K, just put my Amazon order in.

Great review well done. I'd show my wife your review but she'd get 'all giddy' over your accent!
Well done and thanks for posting.

Erik,
Thank you for the nice, kind words. This is one of my knives I won't sell. Thanks for commenting too & take care!
Hey Eric, wanted to let u know I have a video where I test this 1075 steel out in the woods on my page if u would like to see the knife do more!
Good to see a table top of the crotalus, good video!
Krister Berglund
Thanks!
I just got one, very nice blade, I love the sheath because I am a lefty, and this sheath is easy to swap over to lefty mode, that is huge for me.
Good point man. Didn't think about it being ambidextrous. Thanks for commenting!

+Fred Brown I dropped my ESEE 4 in my garage on the cement & it never hurt it at all.

Airik1111 YES! That new Condor looks great! They made a mini Crotalus neck knife called the pygmy I guess it is named after the pygmy rattlesnake.
good review bud
Thanks!

Thanks also for the compliment too. Most people are haters & don't say nice things to strangers.

For the life of me, I can't find this on eBay. Can you link me to where you got yours?
The ebay store was called: Titan.direct
It is pronounced (cro-toe-lus).
The name comes from ancient tradition before man made shoes, many toes were lost when knives were dropped.
