I think I have watched every video featuring Stephanie on TH-cam. And I have been trying to work out why I enjoy her playing so much. Her technical skills undoubtedly, her ability to interpret a piece of music and to somehow get more from it than other players, certainly. But watching this concert has brought it to me; it's the way she communicates her joy of playing each piece.

Awesome performance. Such proficient playing. 🎸 I also really like her speaking and smiles. It makes her performance so much more human and friendly, not just a clinical experience.

I'd love to hear her arrangement of 'Passacaglia' by Sylvius Leopold Weiss. I think it's one of the most beautiful pieces ever written for lute / guitar.
I'd also love to hear her arrangement of the popular filmic piece, 'Ashokan Farewell'.
She plays beautifully. The guitar is very physical, and most players with this much technical command, have very large hands. Her hands are tiny, yet she plays with remarkable strength and facility, quite amazing, and lovely.

@@fabiojanchello4311 Double-top guitars are a German innovation (Dammann, Wagner and others). Maybe you are thinking of lattice-braced guitars which are an Australian innovation (Smallman and others)?

I absolutely love ‘Open Sky’… I go back often to watch and listen as you take me away to an imagined paradise. My large home is always available for an intimate concert should you ever return, though my wife and I are now 70.

She played almost the same program in San Francisco on Oct 7, and it was marvelous. (That program had an intermission, and included all four of Piazzolla's seasons, as well as a piece by her husband, Jakob Schmidt.) Her ability to deliver pieces in their proper rhythmic flow is amazing. For example, compare how she plays the Gigue from BWV1006a to that of the great David Russell (th-cam.com/video/DZh8rcIkNEY/w-d-xo.html). Russell goes at it faster, but it sounds a bit labored and doesn't quite "flow". Hers has that steady 3/4 time roll, even as she adds more and more ornamentation. The same is true for Dyens' Felicidade, where she keeps the "bossa" swinging steadily through all the various sections and variations, which is so hard to do. Brava!

Stephanie's concerts are always entrancing. It's all there, the technique, fire, passion, and sensitivity- combining the techniques of Segovia, Paco de Lucia, Andy McKee and Tommy Emanuel. Does anyone have any info on the support she has for her guitar? It puts the instrument in what I consider the ideal position,.Also great to see a civilized audience, with no unseemly whooping I loved every minute.
Her guitar support is called guitarlift. I use it and it is very comfortable
@@gregarch07 Thanks for that. It seems to me that Stephanie now holds the guitar at a steeper angle than previously, almost as steep as Roxane Elfasci. I'll look into the guitarlift.
