    I use this welder at work. And I’m glad I watched this video. Been using Lincoln since day one. And it always had the digital amp reader. This unit was little odd to work with. Because there is a range and fine tune. But you explained it very well. Thank you.

    I just bought the 225 for building fence here in Texas. Best thing I've ever bought. Excellent machines. Plus got the rebate on the Miller hobby 125 mig welder. Awesome video man good details.

    Can you make a video showing you welding with this machine in a couple different positions and the welds you were able to get? Also if possible can you show how you hook up the Tigers torch you mentioned in the video along with where someone can pick up one of those tig torches.

    Luke,
    Thanks for the informative walk-around. I was wondering if you know if the generator produces enough power to simultaneously run a small mig welder while welding with the bobcat? Thanks

    the math would be: for range 40-130 130-40 / 10(numbers on dial)(*FORMULA* = highest setting in range subtracted by lowest setting in range divided by number of postions on fine tune knob) . So each setting 1-10 would be in increments of 9 amps, 40,49,58,etc... up to highest setting!

    Fantastic video. Glad to see a video covering everything in depth. I'm looking into these now, between the 225 or 250. How smooth does the machine weld? I'm looking to start a small side business with it going to farms or light Fabricating until I have my own little Shop to work out of. But like you said, it is an investment and 4k is 4k so it's a tough choice to make. Any other insight you can give would be much appreciated!

      Enduro guy22 for 4K for a great arc it's a no brainer. If your only gonna be running stick if go with a Hobart champion elite. Same exact machine but stick D.C. Only

    I got a cheap welder in June or July of last year. I want to now get a mig, tig and stick welder from Miller. My dad used Miller. My mom and step dad said they would build me a shed. haha The thing is, the power would not be more than like, 140. I think. Someone on a site I just joined, that has to do with welding, told me of machines like this. Ones that ARE the generator. Miller recommended a welder that cost $2069. haha So, that is just for a tig. I know this can not really do aluminum, but it seems to be able to do just about everything else. I think I will have to save for this thing. I am also thinking of taking welding in college. Though I am 30 and it may be creepy to those who are 18. haha Thank you for the video. LET MY MONEY VANISH! Hmmm, any thoughts on a good Miller that can do aluminum?

    Can the miller bobcat 250 gouge like the lincoln 250 can? just been wondering

  • @jefflowrythor
    @jefflowrythor 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Luke, I bought one of these gems begining of Oct 2014 I have the exact same model the 250 EFI, it was worth paying the extra because with the EFI you don't have to be concerned with old fuel fouling the carberator for cleaning if you leave it without using for an extended period, just simply drain the tank and rinse and refill. My first project with mine has been a welding table I built, but I have a ton more projects yet to tackle.
    Miller doesn't provide any in depth information on how to set up the rig for TIG are you using a Freq box in your set up or are you coming directlu off the machine, I would like to see all your weld tutorials to pick up any good tips along the way so I subscribed your channel.
    I am a master carpenter by trade , and a Structural Building Inspector by profession for a local municipality...as a welder I am all DIY and learn all I can as I go...I was using 1/8" 7018 rod to build the table setting the Bobus on 40-130 and dialed in at 70 on the fine tune, it seemed to be the best set up trying to stick 1/8" thin wall pipe to 1/2" plate mild steel...anyway hope to see more weld vids from ya.
    Jeff

    • @LukeFosburg
      @LukeFosburg  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Thanks Jeff! For mild steel I just touch start but for Aluminum I use a HF box that is super cheap its called an ARC PIG. Check them out! Its an awesome invention that saves the average user tons of money. Works great too! Also it provides continuous High Freq for welding low current and Aluminum.

    Can it weld aluminum tig or mig function?

    • @misterharveyd5594
      @misterharveyd5594 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Caleb Wright depends on the machine, look for “square wave technology” and 250 amps should be plenty plus it’s an engine driven so duty cycle is no worry unless you’re doing mig, which you can buy attachments for the wire feed. Argon for tig, mixed gas for mig, and don’t forget to check the oil!

    • @4You5Tubeber
      @4You5Tubeber 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes to both. But you need a wire feeder for mig

  • @grasscutter88
    @grasscutter88 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    So if you want to mig weld do you set it to the mig setting then plug it into the generator? I already have a mig welding machine. I talked to miller and the guy said you can't really mig or tig weld and it's better to just buy the separate machine for each and run it off this welder/generator.

    • @LukeFosburg
      @LukeFosburg  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SuperKwame1 Mine is the gas model. I would stay away from diesel for a welder. They are very time consuming to maintain and the fuel savings/power is not worth the extra price and time. Go to weldersupply.com and order this. I got the EFI model for only $4099 with free shipping no tax. It uses very little fuel and has tons of power. Oil changes are super easy and there is nothing to go wrong. A diesel can gel up in cold weather and the EFI on this model keeps it running awesome in all climates! just my .02

    • @theviper6602
      @theviper6602 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Luke Fosburg (RC M.D.) diesel is the best way to go last longer better fuel efficiency quiter and yeah they are pain in winter only if you don't take care of it only gas machines I'd buy are the sa 200 .. also the lincoln 305 d machine is a great machine I'm a miller guy but 305 d lincoln is great for the money
