Thank you for the presentation, but I still couldn't see the themes emerging from the analysis. All That I could see were the code being highlighted.

Tip: when finding codes from your list and placing them under each Theme you can use "split screen" option in Word so that you don't scroll back n forth so much. Also to count the number of times each code appeared you can simply copy the code and paste it in the "Find" function of Word and this way it will show you immediately how times that code appeared in your text.

This method demonstrates the concepts well, regardless of whether MS WORD or Nvivo is used. Thanks. Here's an outline:
Software (Nvivo) is better > MS WORD > paper
3 steps: code, clean up code; thematic framework
1-Use a table two columns for interviews as the example
line by line coding for 3 -4 interviews
2-make several columns on another file for other interviews showing all codes
Start cleaning up - creating standard codes
Go back to interview files and put standard codes in
    Aim: creating a framework
    3 - Thematic Framework
Recall aim & RQs of example paper
Sort all codes in one column (get ready to receive)
Start identifying themes; sorts all codes under correct themes
Count number of each code under each theme; strength of code under themes
    sub-theme "Suggestions for improvement"
Now use "comment" function (with "find" function)
Highiight the found code sentences for "results" chapter
[These are not in vivo codes - probably structural coding]

As you indicated, some of our University Authorities don't spend money in this area for students in Ghana. The Librarian in my University had written several times on this. I teach research methods to our postgraduate (MPhil & PhD) in the Music Department. I have a challenge when it comes to DATA ANALYSIS especially for those requiring Qualitative Data Analysis for their research. Your videos (I mean the different related videos) were shared last year for this class and will be given to my students this year in this second semester. Almost all the students last gave me positive feedback on how useful the videos were in clearing their misconceptions and how they helped in consolidating the knowledge and skills required for using Thematic Analysis. With the software, I introduced them to HyperRESEARCH which is free up to 7 cases. Again, it was very beneficial because they watched your presentation on using the NVivo software.

I did all my coding in Excel. Each interview had its own tab. Broke the transcription within each tab down into rows. There were columns for each code (I started with some codes but more emerged during analysis). At the end, I could filter out uncoded rows. I also added a separate tab that used Excel formulas (countif) to summarise how many codes in each interview.
