Was learning to this in 1975. The intro riff going up high was my go to riff. Met Walter in 1974. Won’t ever forget that.

Great lesson, Liam! Big Walter Horton is my favourite blues harp player. BWH along with Little Walter, James Cotton, SBW2 & Paul Butterfield, etc. are the guys to learn from. It's hard to say who the greatest harmonica player is because all of these guys were REALLY good! Anyway, I will focus on learning and mastering the first verse of this amazing song before I proceed to learn the rest of it. Big Walter had tone, timing and delivery which was matched by very few harp players. He was certainly one of a kind!

Thanks for all your lessons Liam. You are by far the best tutor. People keep telling me I HAVE to be able to read music to play the harmomica!! This is really putting me off. I love following your tabs and don't see why I can't just learn that way

Hi Sarah Quick, I'm glad you enjoy my lessons! You certainly don't need to read music - it can be a useful skill depending on context but I know many professional harmonica players who don't read and they get by just fine. Good luck with your learning! Liam

I'd like to point out that the toungue slaps pretty much in triplet and there's an accent on every down beat. It's even more obvious when you slow it down, not just a random slaps/flutter till you run out of breath on each note.

As always thank you Liam for providing such great music for us, you're a real star. I notice that you're getting a JellyBean from Sugarcain. I've got them and love them. I look forward to hearing you play it.

Yep, looking forward to trying it out soon. I'm up in Cain's neck of the woods in a couple of weeks so will pop in for a cuppa and get the latest insider knowledge from him!

That's good to hear. I have quite a collection of Cain's harps and he even tuned my Suzuki Promasters for me. I just love the sounds they make....and they look good. Most importantly though Cain is a good bloke. All the best with the Jellybean.

Love the lesson along with your modesty! To hear a great player admit his weaknesses is refreshing. Anyway, that "rolled R" bit, as you refer to it, sounds to me like a bit of a growl (a la Larry Adler); am I mistaken?

Hi Dov, yes I've heard Jerry Portnoy call them growls before. Can you do it? Cheers. Liam
