I think that binding as many things you will need to do while strafing to your thumb like holster or or tactical. Also I don’t think that crouch as C is a good bind, I think shift is the best bind for apex because you have to crouch a lot and this game is movement heavy and the rest of the binds be sprinkled around like having a movement bind on each finger (other than your middle finger, W and S) because movement is 100% the most important thing you need to have accessible. (Thoughts on this??)
@@JanyJonga it’s a matter of what feels comfortable for you. I used C in world of Warcraft for spells and got used to moving while hitting it after thousands of hours. So putting anything on C is comfortable for me.

Keyboard is so hard!!!
It's gonna be hard at first because you're not used to positioning your hands for mouse and keyboard. It's gonna take a week or two but once you're used to that position you can easily get used to everything else(movement,aim etc ..)
Great vid. The hardest for me has been crouch binds and weapon swapping.. once you get those down it’s smooth sailing.

I came from wow as well! I played from WOTLK till 2021. I had control, shift, and alt mods on all of my keybinds! Just got MnK today with my new laptop; I've been following you're channel prior when I was on console. Thanks for the vids!

As far as the practicing goes, I know I’m not the only one who throws myself in the deep end to learn, in my experience it was way easier for me to learn my key binds and these keybinds by going into the best movement map - worlds edge (which at the time of writing this is in competitive) and go into the construction building or just capital city in general to put myself in difficult situations so I can learn

When you play with your keyboard angled like this it gives your thumbs a better reach for right side of the keyboard like “J” “K”. I play with “G” “F” “G” “H” as my wasd it’s super weird to play like this, but you can press much more keys. I also sometimes use a half keyboard for more mouse space, I use a extremely low game sense and high DPI (about 6k) so the movement it more snappy.

I think there's an app you can run while playing that shows you "hot" keys, as in the buttons you press most while playing and you can look at that after and plan your keybinds with that in mind. Not exactly sure if that's how it works inforget where I saw it. Also I wish my pinky was that independent I don't have finger dexterity like that lol.

I'm not sure whether I should prioritize being able to hit space bar while holding crouch because I can just use scroll wheel? However, then I won't able to tap strafe because I'll have to use my scroll wheel both directions. Maybe I should use toggle crouch for those scenarios? But then that gets complicated. I'll give you my full keybinds if you're interested.
I’ve always liked using back/forward on my mouse for weapon switching. I have forward to next weapon and back for holster. I still have 1 and 2 bound just in case i want to bring up the other weapon without first picking up the holstered weapon

Daz, can I ask what keyboard you prefer for Apex Legends. I am looking for a new one.
Interesting. I still use Ctrl for my main hold to crouch button. I use Q to switch back to my last used weapon. That way I can do the 1 step slide jump and immediately have my weapon back out. V is my alternate hold to crouch so I can hit it easily for a super glide. F is my melee, Z for ult and my side mouse button for tactical. Rest is pretty much default. I didn't like having tactical on Q since I used to hit it on accident when I was new to Apex back in the day.
Tip: If your hand is reasonably large and your keyboard uses the US layout (not ISO/EU), move all your keys once to the right (except tab, caps, shift, and ctrl). The far left side keys stay within reach but you can reach 6 easier and because you moved Q/A/Z to the right you can use those keys for other binds.
I do this as well 6'4" large hands -- more comfortable
@@brianw2912 I’m also 6’4, I think I’ve got big hands, have to get at least larger for gloves so just assuming. But now I’m thinking of trying this out
How long did it take to get used to?
I have small hands and I did the same thing, it gave me access to so many more buttons I couldn't reach! I definately recommend
Down scrool for interact, up wheel for cycle/swap. 2 side buttons on mouse for tactical and ultimate.

So I just started on pc and I have no clue what to do with the scroll wheel down because I don't know how to bunny hop. Soooo what is recommended
I naturally tilt my keyboard at a slight angle just because it's comfortable, and I'm able to do it without it hitting my mouse because I have a 60% keyboard. Seriously, if you've never tried a 60% or TKL keyboard, try it, it will change your life. I could never go back.

Wish I'd had this video 2 months ago when I switched from PS4 😥 I found my dexterity with strafing and pressing LCTRL was an issue. I rebound crouch to LALT as a solution, but the keyboard angle would've worked as well. Great suggestion!
Tilting my keyboard isn't even about mouse space for me, it just makes hitting Ctrl with my pinky 1000 times easier and overall just has a better feel
My keyboard is my laptop with a 1440p monitor hooked up to it and honestly I've never really had to worry much about it because I've noticed after about a match or two of my laptop being horizontal it just ends up angled towards my screen just based on how my hands sit and interact with the keyboard, up and down angling took a couple months as I keep my laptop on a cooling pad so I have 5 heights including just flat so testing around was weird to notice the differences
I've been looking at cooling pads. Some say they work, some say they don't. What's your opinion and what pad do you use?
What modifications did you do to your g305? I do want to cut down on the weight of mine a bit.

My keybinds are f'ed up..
I came from fortnite back in pre season. I switched mice and everything and my binds are as follows:
4 - Ping wheel
Wasd - moving
Q - tactical
E - loot, Open doors etc
R - reload
T - emote wheel
Y - ultimate
F - weapon 2
G - weapon 1
J - heal wheel
X - melee
C - toggle crouch
V - Switch firing mode
Shift - sprint
Ctrl - hold crouch
Alt - inventory
On my mouse:
Middle mouse - Grenade wheel
Left Side 1 - holster
Left side 2 - Ping enemy
Wheel Up - W
Wheel down - jump
Binds are the hardest to master for me... I played a lot of fps games and always Had weapon switching on my mouse wheel and after 10+ years its hard to break that habit
Put weapon swap and holster on mouse buttons, you won’t regret it.

I can't hit my number keys because I have small hands so I need to use scroll wheel down to cycle weapons. It sucks because I need to choose between zipline mechanics and b-hops, or tap strafing. I chose tap strafing though

I never understand why people use that left-side up right-side down keyboard tilt instead of left-side down right-side up, wouldn't that give your mouse more room to work with? Since your right hand movement is essentially within a fan with the radius of your forearm. Plus your left arm would be in a more natural position.

If you want you mouse to really glide, get a glass track pad and mouse pads.
I personally have very little tilt but that's also because of my higher sense and small mousepad
My primary and secondary weapons are on mouse and on 3, with holster on 1 for me. I have this mainly because of my fortnite experience.
My punch is on f and my healing is all on 4,
And i don't actually think i use q for anything... I have v for crouch for attempts to superglide lol
Tilting your keyboard comes from early days of CS (and other older LAN games) when ppl went on LAN's and had limited desk space because they were sitting side by side. It doesn't give any real benefits and kids who have enough desk space do it only because some older pros do it (because they got used to it when they were younger).
Hence my comfort in doing it. I actually for years in NYC had limited desk space. I have solid desk space now, but I am so comfortable at an angle and sitting at an angle that moving into a full frontal position feels super awkward and my arms feels spanned out to far. I know I am sitting properly though and don’t need to make major adjustments. :)
@@Snoooo yeah i guess it depends a lot on your circumstance. My hands feel cramped if they're closer together when having a tilted keyboard, but that's probably to do with my past as a laptop ganer

does anyone have a good keybind for sprint other than left shift? I want to switch from autosprint but holding shift with my pinky is uncomfortable for me.
Set sprint to toggle, so you only have to tap shift to sprint, works pretty well for me.
I use space bar since jump is scroll wheel

What do you think of using mouse side buttons for the weapons, I find numbers a bit too out of reach given the importance of weapon switching. I use ESDF layout

It’s kind of ridiculous how weird gamers still play on very long reticular keyboards that weren’t initially designed for gamers we really need to innovate the keyboard so we don’t have a giant clunk on her desk
You must not have much space on your desk. Only reason people starting doing that was for LAN tournaments. The desk spaces were too small so people trained themselves to use it like that. Keep it horizontal if you have enough space on your desk. Oh and bro, not everyones thumbs are the same. I literally cannot press C,V,or B with my thumb, if I try my fingernail is whats pressing the button. My thumbs are rotated differently than yours. Lucky you though, I wish i could press those with my thumb.

I don't really like how you have binded your healing to e, cause if you are selecting your heals, you can't have full movement (same with ability on q, eventhough I think that wouldn't matter as much). I have binded healing and ability on my mouse, but you could also bind them to your thumb or pinky.
Yeah, it’s more sharing a mindset, what feels comfortable for someone else might not work for them. But understanding what keys are flexible and what works can help you map your keybinds.
