Life saver, Thank you, James, I have collections of magazines and inserting them one listing at a time was laborious... I can now list them in batches ... Thank you for this handy tutorial.
Hey! I just wanted to drop a comment to show my appreciation. As a relatively new seller, I was feeling overwhelmed by the amount of one particular product I have. I knew I wanted to do this kind of listing, but could find next to no tutorials on how to do it. So, sincerely, thank you for taking the time to make this video and for providing such thorough information!
Thank you for the video. I only cant find one thing - how do you showing light grey positions in the list which are not available (or sold)? Thank you.
Hi, I think you just set their 'Quantity' value to '0' in the variations menu. I think there is also an option to hide items which are out of stock, so you would need to make sure that isn't ticked. Hope this helps :)
Hi! New seller here. Can I make a variation if my only variation is Quantity? Say I have two of the exact same item. Do I use this function to create a dropdown to pick 1 or 2? Learning tonight...thanks.
Hi, good question! There is a 'Quantity' field when you list an item as 'Buy It Now' which is usually below the Price and Best Offer options - if you have 2 of the same item, it's best to put a 2 in there rather than create a variation. Good luck :)
Hi, the main issues which stop it from appearing are: 1) being set to 'Auction' and not 'Buy it Now' and 2) the category doesn't accept variations. Try those two and if it doesn't help, start again but pretend you are listing a Tshirt (as that definitely allows variations) and then change your category and see if the variation option goes away. Good Luck :)
@@BigB-1 I think if you start it off as a T-Shirt, see if the variation option is there and if it is, try changing category and if it disappears, maybe that category isn't eligible. I think you can start the listing as anything and completely change it as you go, so it could be a sit-down mower by the time you hit 'List' ;) Failing that, there might be 3 dots on the right at the very top of the screen, and if you click those and then 'Settings' you might see a toggle for Variations, but it should be on by default.
Hi good question, once you put them all in on the first page of the variations (where you type them in), you have to manually drag them around on the right hand side. They will then line up properly on the next page where you put the pictures and prices in.
Hi, no you can do it with a personal account but you have to have 'Buy it Now' selected as the listing type and it has to be in a category where variations are allowed. Also, some accounts have the option hidden, so if you go to the top right corner of the listing page there should be a 'customise' option or button which will allow you to switch it back on, but this is rare. I hope this helps! 😁
The Variation option doesn't seem to appear even though I did everything correct .I have a business account .I have tried changing the category completely just to check and it still doesn't work .And also my listing is on "Buy in now" I'm hella confused now
Hi Ethio, I checked on eBay again after I saw your comment and the category and listing type are the only things they cite as requirements. The only thing I can suggest is to make a new listing with something which definitely works (like T-Shirts or Phones) and then switch back to the relevant category, making sure you are in Buy It Now mode. Failing that maybe try it all again in another browser or try logging in and out again? or clearing your browser cache? I know it doesn't work on mobile but these should work on desktop / laptop. Good luck!
Hi JamDecks, If you can't find the variation listings option, there could be a couple of reasons for it not showing up: 1) The listing is in "Auction" format and you need to change it down near the price and offers, below the description. 2) Th category you are listing in doesn't permit it - try changing the category to Tshirts or Pokemon cards (just temporarily) and see if the variation option appears. Failing that, eBay does like to streamline their interface so it maybe there is a customise option to enable it somewhere? I know that the interface doesn't always look the same and when I started a new account a few years ago the new listing page looked completely different to the one I got for my business account, but now I always see the same interface whether I'm on business or personal. I hope this helps :)
Hi, the most likely reason is that your listing is set to 'Auction' and not 'Buy it Now' - you can find this option in the PRICING section under the description. It should appear after ITEM SPECIFICS and before CONDITION. I checked this on my business account and a personal account and it works for both types. Another possibility is if you are trying to list via an app ie on a mobile phone or tablet - I tried listing it on my phone but the variation option wasn't there, so if you are listing on an app maybe try switching to Chrome or some other browser and doing it from there. I hope this helps! 😁
Doesn't appear. Switched it to Buy it now and tried through an entirely different browser and it's the same result. so what's the secret krabby patty formula to adding variations on the listing?
after a lot of raging and research I found out some products just doesnt give you the option. try listng a hat and youll see the variation option pop up
Hi, another possibility is that there is an issue with the category - apparently eBay prevents certain categories from using the feature - to check if this is the issue, change you category to a completely different one like Tshirts or Pokemon cards (even if it's wrong, it's just a test) and then see if the option appears. If that works, try changing the category back to something which is a bit closer to your intended item. The only other thing I can think of is that some times eBay hides features to make the UI look cleaner, so you might have to look for a small options button at the top of the listing (top right on mine) which will enable you to see some of the features which have been hidden by default. Hope this helps!
Hi, the only way I've managed to add more than the photo limit (which was 12 once upon a time, I think) was to use 3rd party software which hosts the images for you and puts them in the description, rather than in the photo, so ebay doesn't count them as photos but your customers can still see them. The software was called Auctiva but I don't know if you can do it in variation listings. I will investigate and maybe do a video on it. Thanks for the question 🤗😄👍
Or you could splice your photos together in Canva or gimp and upload them in pairs, as one jpeg / png per photo. I just checked Auctiva and they still only do 24 photos per item.....

How do I get my variations to list in ABC order in the drop down for customers and stay that way? Thanks.

Do you have to have a business account for this to work? I can see non of these options on my account when I'm trying to follow. Thanks

When you’re on the listing on the top right click the three dots, click on settings, and then click on activate variations.
