look i wanna say that in this video i made a claim that the outsiders was a "bad movie" and i've had time to think about those words and the impact they may have on some people. i want to say i ADORE that movie and book, it's an old fav for me, but i stand by it. that movie is so bad. the ponyboy and johnny church scene where they just walk back and forth taking turns crying haunts my nightmares.
The book was fantastic. My 6th graders read it and loved it. Both years I worked with grade 6 that was the stand out book. Some of them liked the movie, but others preferred the book more. Even now that some are 8th graders and high schoolers, they aways cite it as a favorite work. That and The Giver.
My mom went to school with Ralph Macchio. She had a major crush on him. Haha She said he always looked younger than he was, and he actually hung out with her older brother back then. She never got to hang out with him personally. Although she wanted to.
We love the process footage! In the finished product, it's not always easy to see the technique and sequence of application. An aspiring illustrator could learn a lot from watching this!
The way that the colours meld in the shadow of the third Ralph’s neck is absolute magic! Its those colour blends that make me want to attempt to use alcohol markers. ❤
9-year-old me was totally obsessed with RM, too. And my husband and I are obsessed with Cobra Kai now! Favorite current show (besides Extraordinary Attorney Woo.)
Your art and running analogy was so spot on and really made me think! Your comfort zone basically is walking - a great way to cool down but when you're trying to grow and improve you avoid it at all costs. I'm so inconsistent with my art practice and now I can see so clearly why it's exhausting - you can't just randomly start sprinting every other week without a foundation and rest 😅
Yes, sketching on camera is very pointless at times since I normally sketch very light. Enjoyed going down memory lane. I remember watching Karate Kid way back,
Oh hell yeah!! I’d love to see some pony boy or Johnny art. I had an outsiders phase in middle school. Those boys are pretty. And RM has such a nice face to draw.
I completely understand what you mean about royalty free photo sites, there’s so few images to choose from and they’re always so posed and unnatural, Pinterest on the other hand is full of aesthetic perfect photos, but morally… everything is reposted so the original creator is nowhere to be found 😭
Sometimes it is just lovely to hear a person talk about how much they love a certain thing, a certain perspective, a certain activity. And to see you do this art, it's just lovely. Thank you for allowing us into that part of you and thank you for being so awesome about the art :D
You can really tell that you enjoyed doing these, none of them stand out as weaker than the others. I've really enjoyed your use of colour lately, with these and the birds and other stuff.
How do you not have more subscribers! Your art and videos always feel so cozy and aesthetic, not to mention your amazing skills! Thankyou for always sharing new ways to improve ❤
I keep getting comments on tiktok about how ppl found my sketchbook videos there and I have no idea who posted them there cuz I use Pinterest a lot for aesthetic boards for projects and have never seen my own sketchbook there
well done on the sketchbook spread 😀 really look like him we are a couple of seasons behind with cobra kai, really should get caught up before we get spoiled.Macchio is 60 and looks 20 years younger lol yeah sketching camera is stressful, sooo much pressure
I feel this epiphany so much! I find that when I push myself too much for too long to be “better” at art or try to push myself to grow skills that don’t feel natural yet that at some point I end up hating the art process. It takes work to figure out how to grow my skills without crippling my joy
I love your sketchbook marker portraits, maybe instead of Pinterest photos you could photograph your friends and family and use them as inspiration or try using the face randomizer things so they’re not even real people. I miss your marker art!
i'm only, like, halfway through this video by now but i just really need to comment this rn: this video genuinely made me fall somewhat in love with your art. i've always really liked your art. but gosh darn this video just... the way you use the markers & how gorgeously it blends & the details. like, it's realism but it's not, like, you're trying to add every lil line of hair or skin detail or whatever. i just love the way this looks. also because of how highly you've spoken about kobrai kai i now highkey want to watch it too. it's just... time, i need time T-T anyways. gonna go watch the rest of the video. your art is really calming me after a busy & stressful day. thank you for sharing your art like this. edit: just finished the vid after browsing pinterest. kinda funny bc i was looking for art inspo & just a while later in your vid you were talking about how pinterest isn't a great place for resources. which is true. i thought i might mention the website "unsplash" to you since you wanna use free / royalty free photos for reverences. idk if you know of it, but there are so many gorgeous photos. of animals (especially birds !! which i think(?) you like). there are tons of photos of archetecture & nature & people & so much more. anyways. i absolutely loved this video.
I really hope one day I can draw things and zone out, drawing is so hard HAHAHAHA and I have not yet drawn one subject enough times for it to feel comfortable 😂
i aint gonna lie my friends thought i was crazy but my teachers sub looked like a grown ralph i think i may have found raplhs twin and EVEN THE VOICE😳they sounded identical i didnt tell him cause i was too scared to say and ask if he watched karate kid or not
here is a comment for the algorithm! (also I wonder if you recognize regular commenters, like you scroll through and every once in a while you see one and think "oh, it's them!".. does that happen sometimes?)

yeah, I'll have to agree. I prefer the book over the movie 100%

You're really excellent at drawing. Great result here.
