I took a 12 hour greyhound bus ride from Toronto by myself to see this concert, and then paid $125 for a ticket on the street. Crashed at a friend's dump of an apartment at 3rd and 34th. I went by myself, and never felt like a loser for doing so. 23 years later, this remains in my top 5 shows all time. They absolutely crushed it on this night.
I love going to concerts by myself. So much more freedom. Going with others is fun in a different way, but I've had some of my best concerts experiences flying solo.
I'm old dude, 70's music guy, from Jacksonville Florida, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet guy, saw Van Halen when they were Superheros in 78 & 79. This was Badass, undeniable. Damn !
Nah....Perry sounds pretty bad, voice cracking and straining throughout. And yeah, Flea's playing a lot of notes, but for me, the original bass lines are an essential part of Jane's music. Anything else seriously detracts from the performance, imo. So for me, this isn't a great performance.
what a time to be alive! the sheer energy captured even in video is astounding! i can only imagine being there. although i must say my favorite part of this video was the lack of phones in the audience.
Just amazing would of really like to see them release a studio album with flea.Navarro and flea=magic. One hot minute was a awesome album very underrated and for me the last good RHCP album I don't know why so many people didn't like it.
So I'm at the show the night before chilling at the back of the mosh pit so as not to get crushed. During "Summertime Rolls" Perry gets wheeled out on this second stage and sure enough winds up right in front of me-Amazing even though I was kicked in the head and nearly trampled by the rushing crowd. Happy Times. They were smoking on this tour as you can see. Their recent shows look so tame almost like Vegas
I'd wager this was about as badass a performance of this song as they ever played. Listening to this rocked more than I recall them playing it in Dallas.
For anyone saying they wish they could go back and see Jane's Addiction....THEY STILL PLAY LIVE SHOWS, THEY'VE BEEN TOURING FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS, GO OUT AND SEE THEM INSTEAD OF WATCHING VIDEO'S AND REMINISCING!
This is some amazeing sound for live & TH-cam, good job all around too the recording operators and encoding person who set this up for youtube and thank you.
This is music when it is played from the heart. They would have rocked even if they never made it up and above the local L.A. club scene. But back then (as today) they were simply too amazing for people not to take notice.
Wish I was ocean size They cannot move you No one tries No one pulls you Out from your hole Like a tooth aching a jawbone... I was made with a heart of stone To be broken With one hard blow I've seen the ocean Break on the shore Come together with no harm done... It ain't easy living... I want to be As deep As the ocean Mother ocean Some people tell me Home is in the sky In the sky lives a spy I want to be more like the ocean No talking All action... No talking All action...
88Dark-;) LOVE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY... I first saw Janes when they were opening for... ready for this??? DIE WARZAU. No kidding. Best LP I'd ever heard... had to sneak outta the house and get to the cat club. Perhaps the best LP i've heard, to date actually.) somethings were inspired by genius.... Janes Addiction.... that IS genius.
This crowd was fucking loving this nite. Awesome participation from the audience, unlike some venues where the music is kicking and everyone is just standing around
I don´t understand why this awesome band did dot became the most popular band of the 90´s, instead of Nirvana for example..... It´s great: great and intelligent and catchy songs, top musicianship, balance between loud and quiet, a charismatic singer, a guitar hero, etc...
This is one of my fave all time songs from the Nothing's Shocking album. The band is awesome and Perry is a showman. But, it is a shame that he can't actually pull off his own vocal material live. I saw them at Cal Expo in the early 90s - same thing. Still - awesome tune...totally epic anthem rock.
These guys are one of my all time favorites and no one can compare to their unique sound and their great energy together on stage. As far as Justin Beiber goes, it's all the little girls viewing that crap......kids these days don't know music!!
"Hither came Perry, the SoCal guy, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandaled feet."
I seen janes in 2003 at LaLa and i manged to get to the very front row center stage and it was awesome. I tell my boyz that was the best show i ever went to. Incubus was there and Audioslave but janes blew the show away. I was literally 3 feet away from perry and dave. best show. wished they played better songs tho. Its was almost all from strays.
@drporkchop234 , sorry, had anger issues that night. i saw Dave last two nights of Jane's "last" tour in Hawaii. Dave blew me away. Talked briefly with Eric, tall, was with his girlfriend, leaving like he wanted to get the hell out of there...
Wow! That rocked! I have to admit, I was turned off to JA after I saw them at Lolapalooza 91, just before their breakup. That show completely sucked ass, compared to when I saw them in 89 and 90. And then other clips I've seen of them with new line ups also sucked, so I pretty much dismissed JA and I felt at least I had my memories of early Jane's, but this clip really shocked me. It kicks ass. Now I wish I would've caught JA with Flea in the lineup.
This is really unbelievable. Has to be one of the best rock performances ever in my opinion.
Chk out "Ted...." Live from Relapse Tour...same night i think..👍❤️👌
Better than Zep, the Who, the Beatles, Hendrix....ANYONE
Just running into this….. blown away

Epic.

BROOOO you neeed to make a movie based of this experience, I know the Greyhound part was crazy lol
I'm old dude, 70's music guy, from Jacksonville Florida, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet guy, saw Van Halen when they were Superheros in 78 & 79. This was Badass, undeniable. Damn !
This is the best live performance of Jane's Addiction that i've seen!!!!
Octavio Andrade Jr. One of the best ..
Flea is tearing it up
It really is!

man ,flea in janes addiction,,EPICNESS-ER
SOMEBODY STOP HIM!
this is literally one of the most amazing things i’ve ever seen...i musta watched this 50 times over the years
i dont get tired of this one version
No talking all action! So glad i scalped a ticket to this show in oct '96
October 1997.
what a time to be alive! the sheer energy captured even in video is astounding! i can only imagine being there. although i must say my favorite part of this video was the lack of phones in the audience.
Damn.......If I could just go back in time!
Russ C. I hear ya!
3:12. That's rock n roll.
Amazing sound pressure!!!
fucking legend!!

This show, the Relapse tour.. was probably the last of the classic Jane’s Concerts.
God damn they sound great here. It’s never really the best Janes without Eric on bass, but still - this was fantastic.
This is such an incredible show, the energy is palpable. Thanks for posting all these videos!
the blonde bass player is no other than Flea (RHCP bassist). Dave used to play for a couple of years in RHCP and he and Flea became good friends
Back when rock stars were larger than life & music mattered
Friend of mine died on 6/8 at only 39.
He personified "it ain't easy livin'"
Chad Roberson... Rock on brother. RIP!!
I'd wager this was about as badass a performance of this song as they ever played. Listening to this rocked more than I recall them playing it in Dallas.
This show they were still together. They got deep into heroin and coke and were a mess later on. New York was the first show and best of tour.
this one version is amazing, i don't have words but it is amazing
yea! I Was at this show. Halloween, after 8 years. It was so goodit still gives me chills watching this
For anyone saying they wish they could go back and see Jane's Addiction....THEY STILL PLAY LIVE SHOWS, THEY'VE BEEN TOURING FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS, GO OUT AND SEE THEM INSTEAD OF WATCHING VIDEO'S AND REMINISCING!
John K. fucking right...well said 👍👍
I saw them in 2016 and at the beginning of 1991. Basically same band, but not the same show. Not the same sound or energy. :/
This is some amazeing sound for live & TH-cam, good job all around too the recording operators and encoding person who set this up for youtube and thank you.
Would anyone else agree that this blows away any airbrushed studio effort?? Holy Jeebus, cold beer, spark one up.......I'm ALL SET!
Man this sounds/looks like it was one hell of a concert I
AM ADDICTED to Vitamyn Noyz ......
I can feel the power of this live performance even on my smartphone screen, after decades they did It.
Amazing!!!
Amazing show, they are unreal live!! Wish Eric would have done this tour with them, Janes forever!!
This is music when it is played from the heart. They would have rocked even if they never made it up and above the local L.A. club scene. But back then (as today) they were simply too amazing for people not to take notice.
Nostalgia.... 3:15 wow!!!
I was at show night before. It was awesome
I listen to "Ocean" in the morning when i'm headed to school and it moves me at a annoying time.
He sings from the soul
wish i was ocean size !!!! just a great song.. miss these dudes.
Dave Navarro is a fucking Beast !
Wish I was ocean size
They cannot move you
No one tries
No one pulls you
Out from your hole
Like a tooth aching a jawbone...
I was made with a heart of stone
To be broken
With one hard blow
I've seen the ocean
Break on the shore
Come together with no harm done...
It ain't easy living...
I want to be
As deep
As the ocean
Mother ocean
Some people tell me
Home is in the sky
In the sky lives a spy
I want to be more like the ocean
No talking
All action...
No talking
All action...
how could anybody dislike this?

I don´t understand why this awesome band did dot became the most popular band of the 90´s, instead of Nirvana for example.....
It´s great: great and intelligent and catchy songs, top musicianship, balance between loud and quiet, a charismatic singer, a guitar hero, etc...
atanganas they broke up in 1991 at their peak
perry had his head up his ass!
Cobain died and got the immortal treatment.

"Hither came Perry, the SoCal guy, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandaled feet."

Holly shit that blew the fucking roof off of my place!
I seen janes in 2003 at LaLa and i manged to get to the very front row center stage and it was awesome. I tell my boyz that was the best show i ever went to. @drporkchop234 , sorry, had anger issues that night. i saw Dave last two nights of Jane's "last" tour in Hawaii. Dave blew me away. Talked briefly with Eric, tall, was with his girlfriend, leaving like he wanted to get the hell out of there...

TAKE THAT
