Thank you soo much for this very helpful video. My boyfriend knows how much i want one and has been looking at them every time we go to a craft store 😂
Hi - we have just bought a Cricut Maker and are now trying to find out how to use it. At about 8:22 into the video when you remove the vinyl from the cutting mat, there appears to be a sheet of plastic on it that is larger that the piece of vinyl. Then at about 8:30 I can see that this sheet of film sits on top of the vinyl and holds the cut pieces in place. This film is then removed after the design is applied to its intended location. You don't show adding when and where you apply this film. Is it something we need to buy separately?
Hi! Yes the clear material is transfer tape and is applied over the vinyl after weeding out the parts you don’t want. It does keep everything in place until the vinyl is placed. I use several different kinds. Cricut has standard transfer tape you can get at Walmart or on Cricut website that works well with Cricut vinyl. I also get larger rolls from US cutter. TransferRite or Greenstar Layflat clear medium tack are both good brands. Note: you only need transfer tape with adhesive vinyl. Iron on vinyl already comes with the transfer material. Hope that helps!
@@AppalachianHomeCo Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. We have ordered a roll of transfer tape and will be having our first try out on Monday. This is for a school MakerSpace that I have spent the past 6 months putting together :-)
Hi! You can press the pause button on top of the machine and everything will stop. The mat will stay loaded in the same position. When you press the pause button again everything will resume where it left off.
Do you need certain paper for these I thought about buying one but idk what all I would need. What is the difference between print and cut and just printing the vinyl
Hi! You need adhesive vinyl to cut the decal stickers, and for print then cut you can use sticker paper. You can also use other materials too, like iron on material for t-shirts and things.
Hi. I have cut chipboard which is about 3/16” thick so pretty thick. With thicker material stencils I would use a deep cut blade on a higher pressure 300-350 or so and do several passes. I did a reusable stencil video on this and that method seemed to work great.👍🏻The knife blade also works really good on thick materials as long as you do several passes.
Hi! Yes I would suggest cutting the names out using iron-on material or HTV, then ironing the name onto the bandana. The machine would be perfect for that.
Hi. Do you mean it can’t read the registration marks? If so it could be too much lighting. Sometimes bright lighting can throw off the sensors. Also check to make sure the lights on the machine are working when it’s trying to detect the marks. Glossy paper can throw it off also. Other than that I’m not sure 🤔
Good afternoon, this video was so helpful.. I have as of yet, to use my cricket explore air, but when I do, I can refer back to this video... Side note: I did subscribe💛
Once it's printed out what do I do next as it shows you fixing it from a clear backing. I'm totally new and have no clue. Do we put a transparent film over the entire piece of vinyl or do we remove the excess and leave the letters on
Hi! Once you cut the decals and weed out the extra vinyl, you place transfer tape over the entire decal. This allows you to remove the backing while keeping the letters in place. Then you can stick on your decal and remove the transfer tape from off the top by pulling it off as flat as possible to the decal if that makes sense!
Hi! I only use an ink printer if I am printing stickers that have images or pictures on them. I print then cut using a regular printer, then cricut cuts around them.
Hi! No you do not need the easypress if you are just using adhesive vinyl. You would need it for iron on material that would go on t-shirts and fabric surfaces.
Hello can you tell me what type of paper do i need to buy if i wanna make a logo with png and iron it in a trucker hat ? Does in need to be transparent or with color? Does it matter? Thanks
Hi! There are several options, fabric transfer paper for dark materials will allow you to print out your design and cut around it, then iron it onto the hat. It is kinda like a sticker you can iron onto materials but it will have a texture. If you want to sublimate and have a sublimation printer, then you just need sublimation paper. Here is the fabric transfer method...th-cam.com/video/GCe3VqkVvTE/w-d-xo.html And here is the sublimation method....th-cam.com/video/AuXurs57EmI/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps!
Thank you for this video. Learning a lot from TH-cam these days! (FYI that you can connect via Bluetooth with to the Explore 2 as well, which I discovered a couple weeks ago.)
Hi! Adhesive vinyl (regular) is just for decals and stickers that you would place on smooth objects. Heat transfer material is ironed on, and can be used on fabrics such as tshirts or towels, hats, etc., but can also be ironed on wood and canvas.
Hi I want to purchase a cricut but I’m confused on which one to get and it’s driving me nuts. May you please help me understand so I can pick . I want to make T-shirts and maybe a few other things but my main thing is clothes . Which one do you recommend also what other items do I need to buy to achieve what I’m trying to do? I know that’s a lot of info to divulge but if you don’t mind I really appreciate it. Thank you in advance. 💜
Hi! I have the Explore air 2 and the Maker. The Explore Air 2 will cut iron on, adhesive vinyl, card stock and papers, and some thicker materials. It will only cut. The Maker will cut, engrave, deboss, and score if you think you would ever do projects like that. If you want to do Tshirts you would also need a heat press (Cricut has the Easypress). I use a heat mat with the EasyPress but you can just use a towel if you want to skip buying the mat. Hope that helps!
@@AppalachianHomeCo yes that does help! Thank you for that information. I was thinking of buying the cricut joy because that is within my budget. Have you heard or seen that one? It’s fairly new. I’m hoping that does some of those things then in the future I can upgrade and give the joy to my kids . May you Please also let me know what products I need to buy for iron ons as it is a bit overwhelming with all the nice cricut accessories
Hi thank you so much! If you want a removable material I would use temporary adhesive vinyl... for permanent projects on glass, permanent adhesive vinyl.
Hi! The Explore Air would do those jobs and costs a little less than Maker. If you think you might expand into different crafts later then the Maker would be good for that.
Hi! You will need to connect via Bluetooth to your Cricut machine. If your Explore air 2 is not showing up on your phone then you may need to get a Bluetooth adapter for your machine to connect. Hope that helps!
I make a lot of wooden products and I believe I’m going to use vinyl which cricket printer do you recommend I should get specifically for vinyl to apply on wood?
I want to purchase a Circut Explorer and begin a t-shirt business, but I don’t know what to do if my project requires two-three different htv. Do I erase it in the design space studio? Or is there another way? Also is there any websites that you recommend to download designs? Please help me !
Hi! I like Etsy for svgs and designs. Creative Market is great also. You can change the color of your designs on Design space for different materials. Then you can change the material setting before each mat you cut. Then you can cut different materials at once. Hope that makes sense!
This is a good video Until towards the end, I'm still confused on when and how to use transfer tape. I'm assuming that's what it was at the end that you were using, but I'm still trying to find video tutorials on that. Thanks again
Hi! Transfer tape is placed over the decal after cutting and weeding. It helps to keep the cut out parts together when transferring onto your material or surface.
Thank you for your videos! I need your help!!! I am a beginner and having trouble removing the my decals especially when I am using "glittery vinyl", at 1st I thought it was the transfer tape I was using but I switched and I am still having the same problem. No matter what I am making it will not peel off completely. TIA

Hi! I only use an ink printer if I am printing stickers that have images or pictures on them. I print then cut using a regular printer, then cricut cuts around them.
Question, so you dont really need the cricut easy press when transferring it to the fabric? Me and my sister is planning to make a small business.
My circut must be older it has no know. The front says Circuit Image. Do you know where I can get instructions??
I just want to know why the "make it " button won't light up when l think lve finished and ready to go. Just stays unlit !!
Hmmmm ... I haven't had that problem. You may need to close the program and restart, it could need an update.
Thank you for this video. Learning a lot from TH-cam these days!
(FYI that you can connect via Bluetooth with to the Explore 2 as well, which I discovered a couple weeks ago.)
Hi! Yes someone actually told me that also ... I just sold my Explore Air 2 but it is great for people that have those!
When would you use heat vinyl or regular vinyl? Is regular vinyl adhesive?
Hi! Adhesive vinyl (regular) is just for decals and stickers that you would place on smooth objects. Heat transfer material is ironed on, and can be used on fabrics such as tshirts or towels, hats, etc., but can also be ironed on wood and canvas.
Great instructor
Thank you!!😊
Hi I want to purchase a cricut but I’m confused on which one to get and it’s driving me nuts.
Does cricut also make stencils? Is there a video that show different projects that used a cricut machine? I guess Im on the fence about buying one.
Hi! Yes you can make stencils with vinyl or even actual stencil material. I have several videos on these if you want to search my channel.
This was so helpful. Thank you!
I’m so glad thank you!!
Can the circut make small stickers to use in a planner?
Hi. Yes I have actually made planner sticker for myself. I have a video coming soon on doing those.👍🏻
@@AppalachianHomeCo oh how great!! Thank you, I can’t wait to watch it
Best beginner video out there! Does anyone know what kind of material I should use if I'm trying to make a design that will go on glass?
Hi thank you so much! If you want a removable material I would use temporary adhesive vinyl... for permanent projects on glass, permanent adhesive vinyl.
Which machine would you suggest for beginners ? I mainly want to print decals and stickers for mugs, labels etc.
Hi! The Explore Air would do those jobs and costs a little less than Maker. If you think you might expand into different crafts later then the Maker would be good for that.
Is that transfer paper that you put over the stencil cut out?
Need to know how to do it from my Samsung phone.. I already downloaded the design space for my explore2
Hi! You will need to connect via Bluetooth to your Cricut machine. If your Explore air 2 is not showing up on your phone then you may need to get a Bluetooth adapter for your machine to connect. Hope that helps!
@@AppalachianHomeCo Thank you so much. Ill try
can you use a samsung tablet for the cricut maker
Hi I haven’t used a Samsung but I would say you can, since Android phones do work with the program.👍🏻👍🏻
I make a lot of wooden products and I believe I’m going to use vinyl which cricket printer do you recommend I should get specifically for vinyl to apply on wood?
Hi. Have used both the Explore Air 2 and the Maker. The Explore Air works great for just vinyl projects.👍🏻
Will the Cricut cut Plasticard (i.e. styrene), and if so up to what thickness.
Hi I have tried 6mil mylar plastic sheets with the deep cut blade set to the highest pressure setting at 3x cut. Hope that helps!
@@AppalachianHomeCo Thank you.
Excellent explanation!
Thanks so much!!😊
This is a good video Until towards the end, I'm still confused on when and how to use transfer tape.
TIA
Hi! So glad you enjoy my videos! Do you mean the transfer tape won’t peel off completely?
Do you have to have a printer in order to use the cricket 2
Hi. You only need a printer if you plan to use print then cut.
I'm new here. I need the foot pedal and the mats for the Cricut. I have it for years now. Please, is there a store where I can buy
Hi! I don’t know anything about the foot pedal, my machine does not have one. But the mats you can get at Walmart, Hobby Lobby (US) and Amazon sells them as well.👍🏻
What are the differences/ different uses between all the circut machines?
Do the tools come with the cricket
Hi I think I got the squeegee and weeding tool seperate.
Can the cricket cut through leather
Hi yes it can...I have a video on cutting leather. I will be doing some more leather videos as well, too.
