You and gymnastics masterclass both having videos on Onodi's today is so funny, they're just that good of a skill!

I was like “Are they the same person??” but Gymnastics Masterclass also runs Sporteverywhere so it can’t be. So coincidental!!

Her and Mustafina used to have some crazy connections with the Onodi.

Olga Mostepanova was the first gymnast to perform the unique arabian back handspring on beam at the 1983 World Championships. Alas, her coaches did not submit the skill so that it could be named for her. They mistakenly believed that it was already in the code of points! Henrietta Onodi's coaches did not make the same mistake! They submitted the skill at the 1989 World Championships.

One of my favorite sequences with an Onodi was from Allana Slater of Australia. It consisted of an Onodi into an immediate switch leap without dropping her free leg, followed by a Rulfova. I only ever saw her complete it once successfully during qualifications at the 2004 Athens Olympics (she usually would break the connection between the Onodi and the switch leap by dropping her free leg). Still, it’s a very difficult and visually appealing sequence.

I was certain I would see onodi's back handspring layout onodi combo from 89. Loved that one and no one else does it!

I've always thought this was the most beautiful skill in the sport!

    Thank you very much!
    The Onodis look so different.
I like most those, who combine fluidity, ease, piked feed and flexibility and who keep one leg in the air at the end.

What’s interesting to me is that Henrietta was actually an Olympic champion on VAULT- but her famed skill is on beam. Very unique.

How can you have a compilation of Onodi's and not include Ling Jie's amazing BHS-Onodi-front aerial combo from the 1997 Nationals... 😭

That clip is iconic!! but also used a LOT and I think they may have just been broadening who they choose to show. Gymfan has definitely used that clip before!

I’ve just realised there is a video of Ling Jie, but she only did BHS-Onodi, it’s at 2:03. Definitely think they avoided the nationals clip bc it’s used SO much
