Lovely collection! re Hoya, no need to chop, more variegation will come with more light. Tend to like bright sunny spots (in my experience) :). Chopping will likely help put out more growth though for a bushier plant (eventually). Take care!
Thanks for the advice. Yes I might give them a chop to make them bushier because they are getting kinda long. You are right about the variegation coming back. I've noticed it creeping back in now that the leaves have hit the window. Have a great day!
Most Hoya do really really great in pon! Only struggle I forsee is if it's an established plant in soil. It might be challenging to get it to adapt without rotting everything and going downhill. But if you chopped it up, rooted in water and then potted them up in pon they would thrive. I'm sure it's absolutely possible to move them over but that personally stresses me out knowing all of the soil roots will likely rot off.
I thought I might do that when I take cuttings. I lost patience with myself when looking after my current hoya so I took all their soil off and am growing them all in one ceramic jar of water. They're really happy in water and have twined together up my kitchen wall. But when I take cuttings I will deffo try that because I'd rather have them in pon 🙂
In love with the Party Time plant at 3:40! I’ve looking for one in Australia but haven’t found any.. hopefully they come down under soon cos the pops of pink are stunning and so cute 💞
Yeah I was looking for one for ages. They're so vibrant. But seriously, my advice would be to not unserestimate the humidity on this one. It is practically a terrarium plant in my experience. I've found it so tricky. But I live in the uk - so not exactly tropical. It propagates very easily though. Good luck getting one.
The reverted 'krimson princess', just let that reverted vine grow i say. There's likely other growth points that are still variegated. I've got a couple of these hoya with some only green leaf vines and i think they look great! 😊💚
Oh cool. To be fair, it's grown 4 more leaves since I filmed that video 2 weeks ago and they're all green. But it looks kinda cool and understated arty. I'm just going to wait and see what it wants to offer me I guess. 😊
They keep on giving pups. That's essentially the main thing. The lauterbachiana and the zebrina both came with 2 plants in the pot but have pretty actively been shooting up babies. That's really the secret to a full alocasia. I find that depending on the alocasia they will have a critical mass of between 4 to 8 leaves on each plant at a time. And when it reaches its critical mass, then it will start killing off the oldest leaf to replace it with a new leaf..... like a psychopath 😂. However it's critical mass can be less and is affected by its surroundings such as heat, humidity, watering, light etc.... theres also the age of the plant. The older the plant, the thicker the stem and the stronger the leaves etc.... There's a lot to explain so a care video is coming soon. Sounds like you've got good light and heat if you get a lot of winter growth.
Care video is coming soon. In the meantime alocasias love humidity! Like super love it. If you can give them a few hours a day of above 60% (I mean the higher the better but I'm assuming you don't want to live in a steam room 😂 so let's say 60%) they will love you forever. But do what you can if 60% isn't possible. The full care video will be done in early July. Have a great day 🙂
Oh cool. It's growing really fast now but the leaves haven't expanded yet. Can't wait to see how they look. I will probably not do anything with it thos growing season and just see how it wants to grow.
I got them from various places but it is easier in Europe especially since the prices dropped a bit. All of our shops over here typically buy their plants from nurseries in the Netherlands who now have a good stock of mother plants and/or are tissue cultured. But I don't have any super rare anthuriums which I imagine I would have to buy the size of my pinky finger 😅

not that i have room but where do u get such big plants, my are small, easy in europe?

Also I grew a lot from little but the trick is to buy fast growers.
