pretty sure we heard the same thing with S/V. This is just common to hear this, it doesn't mean anything at all. It seems as they're going to outsource for the new IP *(They have to, since there team is small)* and lets be real. GF can't do new IPs. GF at best they can do is Handheld/Mobile like games and even then it's still a big of a deal to them. They intentionally keep their Dev team tiny to maximize profits for everyone. It says they're hiring, but never mentioned any layoffs or people quitting throughout the years. It's more than likely replacing said empty slots that were open. All in all, my expectations for GF will stay the same as always, down to the dirt. They can surprise me for sure. The amount of high quality pokemon fan projects that are made shows there’s talent and passion out there, these big companies just need to set aside any pride and embrace them. These fans mirror the spark that gamefreak had when they first made pokemon games and together they could make amazing things.
I'm really hoping Gamefreak isn't hiring contract workers just to delegate a small project, but rather to expand to improve the quality of all their games across the board. They share the amount of work and releases that Ubisoft does but they're only a fraction of company size and it's really starting to show with the quality of these recent Pokemon games. Japanese work culture is really conservative and we don't really know what goes on at the building so only time will tell when we start seeing them drop some new stuff. It's wild when you realize that they've been such an established company for decades, with their Pokemon franchise costing billions of dollars, backed by one of the mainstay gaming companies (Nintendo) yet even in 2024 the quality of their games look like it's coming from an indie studio.

Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green release in 2006. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl released in 2008. Game Rant article; This is totally the first time the franchise takes a 2 year break guys!
Legends is likely to launch in 2025, and they don't seem to be counting the S/V dlc since they're listing that as 2022. So, it's three years between games with a technicality. Correct with a technicality is a step up from what you usually get from game rant. EDIT: typo made "likely" correct to "looking". I believe we're not getting Legends until 2025, but I don't want to make it seem like it's confirmed.
Two things I'm hoping for. Firstly, a launch that takes way longer than Scarlet and Violet/Legends. Last few Pokémon games came out feeling rushed and under baked. A longer dev time is needed for this game to feel fully polished and refined. Second thing I'm hoping for is a switch two launch. That way the game will run on stronger hardware and as a result can probably run at a solid 60 fps and higher resolution. Game Freak are never going to push for higher fidelity so at least let us play at a decent frame rate.

Honestly I wish Legends was for the switch 2. I’m just tired of un optimized first party games half the time. Just as bad as games that look like there trying to break through the switch in the hopes of finding a better system.
I just hope, whether directly or by backwards compatibility, the games can still be this ambitious without being on a console that's power is over a decade behind.
i can feel they all know that almost every fan saying "without the bugs and lags" scarlet and violet can fight for the game of the year or even be on par with the games in it. really hoping pokemon company let gamefreak expand and give them the support needed for a pokemon main line game to be nominated in that award or if not atleast give the fans a great graphic(i dont need HD if it will just remove content from my game), compelling storyline, and a new iteration to its predecessor. and i can feel those contractuals maybe will serve as a groundwork for the gen 10,, it must be big since it was the 10th gen of pokemon..
Well first off, there's the whole issue of cutting content from pokemon, such as pokemon and moves, that needs to stop. Then there's the issue of designing a game with buggy collision worse than even sun and moon. And let's not forget how they ignored the QOL improvements from pokemon legends Arceus that they ignored in S/V.
@@suroguner for the last one at least, I believe it's not that they ignored the QOL improvements, but they developed the games with different teams at the same time. So each team tried things that were great on each game, but since they acted independently, the things they tried for legends arceus ended up not entering scarlet/violet. That being said, after both the good and bad criticism in both games, I believe we can expect the QOL features to make a definitive return from now on (or actually complain for being ignored if they effectively don't return)
Gamefreak was still for a long time with the DS game dev mentality, where they could pump a game every year or two, have it be great compared to the standards, all that with smaller teams. Glad to see it seems like they're taking their time here AND expanding their team to fit more modern standards
I hope that Legends: Z-A comes out at the end of 2025, I'll buy it!! if it gets delayed to 2026, then its a immediate buy!! I also hope that the extra man power helps as well!!
I hope Game Freak doesn't take this to mean fans were unsatisfied with the graphics, animations, story, features and open world of Scarlet/Violet, cuz those were amazing. We want more like this, but better, always better.
The graphics could have been a lot better but I do like having textures on Pokémon. Everything else? Meh. The story wasn't bad but it wasn't breaking new ground either. The animation needs rehauling. You can't give empty air for a Pokédex anymore.
This. I love what they did with it, I just wish they'd patch up some problems. I'm hoping the Switch successor has backwards compatibility just so we can play SV at 60fps. I don't want these to go down in history as "the laggy one" or "the buggy one". Totk is in the same spot as SV which is even more of a reason I think the Switch 2 will have backwards compatibility but that's just my opinion.
@@hikaru9624I mean, it's a turn based game. Pokémon's story is all based around action we're told happened because they can't make pressing "A" feel like a history changing experience. That's why I REALLY hope they implement a Pokénn Tournament style battle system in the future (Obviously, an improved, Pokénn Tournament battle system) and possibly the PLA catching system. I feel hopeful that after all the criticism AND all the praise Game Freak has gotten during the Switch era that they'll take it all seriously and take the next game slower so it'll be higher quality.
Would be weird if they're hiring for Z-A after the announcement. To me this sounds like hiring for the next main series game, which is most likely in pre-production. Usually games don't get announced until they actually have a solid release date in mind which would indicate that Z-A is already in full production.
I just want a game where we can do more things with our Pokemon. Been waiting forever for another Pokemon stadium game, why not just incorporate that into a main game. Not all of us want to battle with our Pokemon.
I don't get this obsession with voice acting, full voice acting in a game where you can choose a character's name is an inherently bad idea that leads to immersion-breaking workarounds. Grunt-based voice acting or heavily limited voice acting is one thing, but that's never what people mean, they always want full voice acting.
@@Missingno_Miner Voice acting could be like Pokémon Masters EX, just like you said. It helps a lot with long mute cutscenes. There's no need for full voice acting.
To be fair witcher 3 had a tiny team, and cyberpunk had a multi-thousand team, a bigger team is not always better. Time and Management is always more important. We can see this with the halo trilogy and now infinite had the same problem, fallout new vegas vs fallout 76, battlefield 4 vs 2042. A big team usually causes more confusion and lack of cohesion. I hope they do it right.
The issue with Pokemon right now is that they keep hiring temp workers because their current team is outdated and don't know how to do anything that's new. with each new game since they're not using the same people as last time they're not carrying over good features. So they have tons of new stuff that they have to consider and way more work to do but with an absolutely tiny amount of time in comparison
Pokemon games would be great if they parnered with bandai namco. Pokemon's biggest issue is the environment's are lack luster... bandai would hit it out of the park if they worked with game freak
This is honestly amazing news. There were things about S/V I did love but overall it definetly should have been so much better and this is a good look going forward.
I'm not convinced of anything by Gamefreak's mass hiring. That does not show any improvement to their business practices, management, & game development. I'll wait & see in the next few years but i'm not convinced until I do see actual changes.
Non-sprite Pokemon games aren't real Pokemon games. Pokemon died with Black 2 and White 2. It's very unfortunate but I can't really enjoy Pokemon anymore. It's so low effort, there's such little content, it's embarrassing to have so much money and resources and create the same exact "toddler hand holding friendship is beautiful Pokemon are our best friends bullshit over and over." Every NPC says something about loving your Pokemon, or how to open your menu, or tells you love is the most important thing ever and at this point it's just fucking gay and boring. Pokemon is such a small narrow unfulfilling experience, every time. Children haven't been Pokemon's main audience for 20 years, children are playing Fortnite, Black Ops, Apex Legends, Resident Evil, etc, the adults who enjoy complex stories and open worlds and narrative driven experiences are the ones buying Pokemon games, and all we get is the same AA bugged "love is the most important thing between you and your Pokemon" bullshit every two years. It's boring, and I'm not excited for a clone copy of the 3 year olds adventure. It's too childish and small and boring, every one of them.
People talk a lot about how TPC or Game Freak or "Pokémon" won't lift a finger to improve the series quality, but will outright refuse to acknowledge the steps they have taken to ensure future releases will be improved in both quality and development.
not gonna expect a lot still -- this is still going to be shit same with scarlet and violet -- recent pokemon games have no soul in them. they're just made because there are still people buying them. the main reason why they're not doing anything about the games is because you all die hard fans still buy the game even though it's really really bad -- goodluck
They need new talent. Gen 8 was a really bad game that required the purchase of a dlc to make it more than a glorified DS game and Gen 9 was a failure from a technical point.
Lets hope this helps them. The games have been awful as of late. I also hope they add an additional save file and a nuzloke mode with a built in randomizer 😊 and battle frontier.
Going from like 180 to around 210ish isn't going to do that much if they're working on multiple games at the same time. Pokémon franchise has made more money than anyone can even fathom and they still operate like a scrappy little indie studio in someone's garage somewhere, just makes no sense.
If GameFreak is keeping the same pace for mainline games as they always have, we'll see a Gen 10 game around November of 2025. So clearly they need to hire more staff if they have this coming up so soon.
Last time I checked up on JobTalk (Japan's version of Glassdoor), Gamefreak reportedly had 87 workers, in the span release S/V to both DLCs being dropped, I watched Gamefreak's score go from 4.2 stars to 3. Also contract hiring makes sense why people will leave in mass after the release of a Switch title. Hiring more newbies then having their contract expire isnt gonna improve Pokemon. Gamefreak has to start focusing on smaller titles again so they can give their newer staff experience.
This is definitely the biggest W for Pokemon in a while 🎉

@Clooger- Financially, It doesn't make sense to release the kanto games on online because of let's go, and DS/3DS games aren't being released on the Switch online, probably due to the dual screen setup. So practically, only hoenn and maybe johto would be released on the Switch.

Long overdue if you ask me. I mean this is a long time coming for Gamefreak and I am surprised it took them this long to realize it.
What I want to see, are more Mystery Dungeon series games, and new Pokemon Ranger series games too; hopefully we do get some more of those!

I won’t hold my breath. People are going about this the same way as ever. Never realizing the day and age we are living in.
I suppose that is what happens when a collective echo chamber of people are so blinded by nostalgia.
I’m gonna be honest it sounds like they are desperate for employees because either maybe they’re not going so cheap anymore and things won’t be as easy so maybe people quit or they just have a lack of people who have the motivation and skills for higher quality Pokémon games and that’s why they are hiring

Honestly my original prediction would have been that Nintendo would have had a reveal trailer for the Switch 2 and that they would show us a sneak peek at Legends ZA in the trailer similarly to how they did with Super Mario Odyssey in the Switch's reveal trailer. After the Switch 2 is revealed, then they could've had an actual trailer for Legends ZA with more info than just a 2 second clip of gameplay.
ZA is most likely a launch 🚀 title for the new switch, can’t have it with controversy
Idk if I would have noticed the audio change if you didn't mention it, but since you brought it up yeah it is for sure better
I really hope the Switch and Switch 2 are compatible. I don’t want to have to buy both just to play Gen 8/9 + ZA. I’d rather trade my switch for a switch 2
Normally they are, you can play ds games on 3ds you can play wii games on Wii U so most likely
pretty sure we heard the same thing with S/V. This is just common to hear this, it doesn't mean anything at all.
It seems as they're going to outsource for the new IP *(They have to, since there team is small)*
and lets be real.
But this news says pretty much nothing at all.
and also, i get being all optimistic, but we can't simply ignore the years of evidence we have from this Dev team and what they've given us.
I hope this means we get the 3 gen games too sometime down the line.
0:42 I can vouch if that helps, I noticed an increase in quality pretty quickly
If they bring back the full national dex and all the cut content, I'd actually be interested in playing the series again.
As someone who used to work temp. They always say you could become permanent, but they never intend to make you permanent. They probably just put that there for legal reasons.

I am still not trusting a word they say until the product is out and peer rewiewed.
I really hope that one day we will look back at the Switch games as an awkward phase the franchise went through and eventually grew out of

Over 9 minutes just to say they hired more people
Typical for Pokemon stans
Says a lot about this franchise that increases in worker numbers and development times are more hype than the games themselves.
Wow that's a LOT of jobs!
Its very unfortunate that while we wait for Legends ZA the Pokemon team dont drop updates for Scar/Vio. They could improve the graphics, improve certain special moves animations eg Fire Blast, new arenas to fight in, new music track, new costumes just to name a few. Unfortunately with how greedy the Pokémon Company have been, this probably means quantity over quality for our games. Quantity = more money for them.
To piggyback off what I said, Junichi Masuda literally said this back when they announced the SWSH dex cuts... _"Rather than any actual feedback from players, it's more accepting the realities of modern life. Kids these days or even people who grew up playing Pokemon everyone is alot more busy. There are a lot more things competing for a person's time than there were back then. For example, there are so many free games you can play on your phone now, there's so many entertainment options, so making it a little easier to play is the reason for that."_ The perfect excuse for laziness. With that said, don't get your hopes up, I'm trying not to as well.
@@NaniTCGYeah, it’s true that a lot of companies, including Pokémon tend to care more about money than fans. However, that has been biting them in the butt recently as they were endlessly mocked for the Scarlet and Violet glitches. Hopefully, they are starting to listen. All we can do is watch and wait.
They can hire as many as they want. But if they don't fix the company problems first then it won't matter.

Wow 38 new devs? They can make 19 more games a year now.

Put project blue on hold until pokemon is fixed!
wtf do you mean fixed? What's broken about it? Is the battling broken? I don't get it.
If it going to release at the beginning of the year with another game to launch at the end of the year, I'm never touching another Pokemon game again.
Yeah I just want to be more polished really
@@hikaru9624I mean, it's a turn based game. Pokémon's story is all based around action we're told happened because they can't make pressing "A" feel like a history changing experience. That's why I REALLY hope they implement a Pokénn Tournament style battle system in the future (Obviously, an improved, Pokénn Tournament battle system) and possibly the PLA catching system. I feel hopeful that after all the criticism AND all the praise Game Freak has gotten during the Switch era that they'll take it all seriously and take the next game slower so it'll be higher quality.
@@Manopat243 I'm not convinced. They'll just carry on regardless.
You hate Pokémon battling but that was all you did in stadium? Did you actually even play the game?
I really hope they include voice acting in Z-A though looking at the job list, I’m doubtful since there isn’t a “VA director”…

Thank you Palworld you woke them up. 🎉

It's so low effort, there's such little content, it's embarrassing to have so much money and resources and create the same exact "toddler hand holding friendship is beautiful Pokemon are our best friends bullshit over and over."
Every NPC says something about loving your Pokemon, or how to open your menu, or tells you love is the most important thing ever and at this point it's just fucking gay and boring.

Im SO glad they are hiring more people. Theynare the company behing friking Pokémon, yet they have less then 150 workers? Its insane!
I genuinely might apply, i might aswell use my CAD knowledge for something, my degree is pretty much just CAD modelling, there’s nothing around here.
They need new talent. Gen 8 was a really bad game that required the purchase of a dlc to make it more than a glorified DS game and Gen 9 was a failure from a technical point.
Going from 2D to 3D makes the content ugly and limited.
I lowkey love the OG two titles with exclusive legendaries 8 gyms elite 4+champion style story… and no dlc
You're voice quality def seems a lot better!
Audio sounds great!
I haven't seen any of your videos, but this title, *you have my attention*
Last time I checked up on JobTalk (Japan's version of Glassdoor), Gamefreak reportedly had 87 workers, in the span release S/V to both DLCs being dropped, I watched Gamefreak's score go from 4.2 stars to 3. Also contract hiring makes sense why people will leave in mass after the release of a Switch title.
Hiring more newbies then having their contract expire isnt gonna improve Pokemon. Gamefreak has to start focusing on smaller titles again so they can give their newer staff experience.
The hype for pokemon legends Z-A will gradually build up come 2025. I'm hoping they revive or follow up Pokemon Ranger.
