BC looks like a Burn Out/Nerd hybrid...So I'm happy for his success....So he's like a double outcast.....Ironically I remember in gym class many of us Burn Outs could actually outrun most of the non smokers.
Enjoyed it? THAT WAS AMAZING! I can't believe that I have never heard of this band!? You guys are AWESOME! [well, in 1985 I was 10] Everyone was on point, it was technical yet "mainstream" sounding. A real nice blend IMO.
I love how Hexen sounds like something out of the late 70's rock era (Rush, Blue Oyster Cult), but also has an early grunge / metal vibe. Thank you for uploading this 16 years ago.
How to cool to see this. Such a timecapsule, mid 80's. Hightops with the pants tucked inside. The mini mullets, hey I had one too. It's how it was done. And can see his guitar playing evolution, he had his guitar Archie'ed. I hear some influences of Rush, Iron Maiden and a little Judas Priest.
music is a funny thing man, you can start out in one place and end up getting into something totally different. so interesting to see someone like billy corgan playing thrashy prog stuff like this this.
I was playing guitar in 1985, end of first/ beginning of second year of college. It was important to me then, but I ultimately had to face the facts that I was too nervous and wasn't cut out to be a stage performer. When right hand picking, I felt I had to anchor my hand, and I don't think you can get that kind of speed when you play that way. I don't think fast playing is always the best playing, but it still surprises me to see Billy doing that at such a young age. More importantly, I feel a sense of nostalgia watching this. 1985 is well within my memory, yet is nearly 40 years back. I'm getting old, and while those days were filled with angst for me, there were such opportunities for rich experiences. I gave up playing in '94, and never really missed it thereafter.
I wonder if Billy has seen these videos here on TH-cam? If so, I wonder what he thinks about it. Is he like, oh man nooo! Or like, wow what a flashback.

cool.. can relate to the Iron Maiden meets Metallica and Rush and Jaco Pistorius vibe of that era the band i was in played covers so badly that people thought they were original tracks :)
thanks for sharing this video :-) so cool you guys get to hang out with him before. anyways this was really good & i truly enjoyed it..i was only 5 when you guys started rocking out like this haaha :-D Awesome !!
Billy I believe started playing seriously wen he was 14. They might not have had microphones, cause surely someone would of mumbled something. Billy had to have some twinkle of the dream by this time. Some of his early basic repetitive lyrics would fit...razor....in my hands....motherfuckin RAZOR!!!! Thanks for postin this! Hadnt seen this in a long time.
honestly hearing them it's the first thing that came to mind the speed the sound it was pure thrash. I know billy was inspired by tons of bands including sabbath, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if he was by early Metallica. Hell a lot of bands where like Green Day
@@benderman1157 i was watching an interview from Lars Ulrich to Billy and he said that he used to have a casette with Metallica songs on one side and Joy division on the other
@@hugosilver1 haha thats good to know, I knew he was a fan of joy division im trying to find somewhere in their disography to start got any ideas? Also talking bout joy division. I was raised by metallicas discography
Mullet with butterfly wings
Criminally underrated comment right here.

Fuck the Pumpkins reunion... i want a HEXEN reunion!
Your profile pic makes me think you drive a Hybrid minivan now-a-days
Why have you guys never collaborated years later more so when pumpkins went through their breakup period

Jimmy Chamberlin rocked that look well into the 90s.
*If all those influences amount to crap, then yes, I hear them too*
I heard Rush..The Rushing Pumpkins..
A little Sabbath too IMHO
Definitely, came to comment the same!
billy mcfly
That bassist is holding down really well! And he’s hella melodic. I’m impressed!
Geddy Lee influence clearly
Oh man, this is so Rush.
I thought the same damn thing.
Eh, not really.
@@ThaiThom yeah it is
@@ThaiThom yeah, really.
@@ThaiThomBilly has actually said he took a lot of stuff from Rush, saw an interview where he mentions one song in particular
Your bass player is great. His tone cuts through and nice fills.
You can definitely hear the Iron Maiden and Rush influences

The bass player was swimming in it back then.
Didn't expect to enjoy this song as much as did.
Corgan shredding into a Camcorder with Nathan Fillion on bass. I'm in.

Billy looks so happyyy~ He's so cute.
It just goes to show there’s hope for everyone
Personally, I hear a lot of RUSH influence. But Billy's early talent is really showcased well. These guys really know how to jam well together too.
I wonder if Billy has seen these videos here on TH-cam? If so, I wonder what he thinks about it. Is he like, oh man nooo! Or like, wow what a flashback.
I would ask him on instagram
BTW -
That's a damn good song. Especially for three high school kids.
I'm a bassist in high school right now, and I'm impressed.
Rush Rush Rush
apparently, billy actually played all the guitar bits in this.....
cool vid
Corgan clearly earned his chops early on.
just kids making music and having some fun
This is probably the only band Billy's had with a male bassist.
Not anymore, as of tonight......
Michael Mitchell Excellent observation!
No the marked and also current sp
This awesome. That big smile on Billy's face at the beginning, he looks like a young Eddie Van Halen. Just vibing with the bass player.
BALD BILLY'S ATONEMENT FOR THIS HAIRCUT WILL NEVER BE COMPLETE.
Billy rocks '85!
I like the ferret trap hanging from Billy's guitar.
Awesome bass player
Awesome! Started off like Diamond Head, Am I Evil. Then went its own way. Eey cool to see.
Metal head at heart.
Dude That is cool you were the drummer man! PROPS TO YOU MAN!

OMG. B & D headstock adornment. “Stop soloing, you’re under arrest!”
is this is an early version of AVA ADORE?
great bass on this.
Even in high school in the 80s , shitty bands were still more talented than today....except for drummers maybe.
The opening riff sounds very Maiden-esque
They were obviously listening too A LOT of Rush.
hi...we're the pinheads

Billy was a big Rush fan. And here’s the proof.
i can see the RUSH influence..did all you guys listen to RUSH back then.

I had no idea that early Rush was a quintet.
the intro reminds me of hit the lights of metallica
