    So are you more of a Daiquiri or a Hemingway Daiquiri kind of person?

      I LOVE a "regular" Daq!!! So simple to make, and so many Rum choices!! I need to get better with grapefruit juice in my cocktails....

    Daiquiri's are fantastic. There is so much you can do with them. And if its properly made it just hits the spot.!!!

    I have to agree with Julio. The Daiquiri is a perfect recipe, a perfect way to enjoy rum.

    On paper the daiquiri is so simple - rum, lime, sugar - yet it really comes down to technique and quality ingredients. Livio, thank you for hosting a craftsman to show us the way. It is always helpful to see how the pros make the classics. Cin cin.

    • @MasterYourGlass
      @MasterYourGlass  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is so true. It’s easy “on paper” but can be easily messed up. Thanks for watching!

      Not a traditional daq if it doesn't use lime cordial.

    You always get the good guests on your show... this is great, love this! I'm a huge Daiquiri Guy, my friends make fun of me because they say it's a girls drink, they are so stupid, they don't know what they are missing. I think this one everybody would love, it's not blended and doesn't look foo foo like... I always have the blended, kind of slushy but this is how many of the places make them here. Love the cocktail tips. Great video, love it!

    Great guest. His shaking style made me realize I've been using my arms too much. Looks like it's all in the wrist. Also, I've been trying to figure out what white rum to get, and now I know!

    • @MasterYourGlass
      @MasterYourGlass  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good catch! The fling of the wrist helps ensure that the product inside the shaker is rotating and not just going up and down. Cheers, and thank you for watching.

    We have no shame in saying that we're on Team Daquiri. And the addition of sugar -- could totally see where that would take it the next level. Another awesome one, as always!

    Grazie Livio. I love the variety of guests and their stories. I'm curious, what gave it away that Julio was IBA trained?

    • @MasterYourGlass
      @MasterYourGlass  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I appreciate that. So much work goes behind being in the same room with people that live in other states or countries.
      I used to be an IBA judge and competitor so I know when when I see one :).
      It’s how he picks up the bottle of Bacardi and presents it with one hand under it and one hand on the neck; He mixed the juice with a stirrer in the little carafe before pouring it in (that’s so IBA). He emptied the ice that was chilling his glass at the time he was adding ice into his shaker (and not after the drink is shaken).
      On the first drink he had no choice because he stirs the sugar and the lime so he has to put those ingredients first. But on the second drink, where he had a choice, he poured the base spirit first (vs cheapest ingredient) which is also an indicator (lightest ingredient first). His shaking style, and his overall posture is so IBA.
      Many of these techniques have changed even within the Aibes/IBA but if you were trained 25 years ago those are habits that you don’t lose.

    A simple Daquiri is the best, and Rum is cheap, makes it even better. I prefer a daquiri with demerara, my wife enjoys the Lavender version from Royal Caribbean.

    That bottle of Bacardi was a limited bottling.
    Bacardi should really bring it back, I think they can do it tomorrow if they wanted.
