Thank you very much! I just recently bought the Carter M-T chucks that a holding the sphere. The are not suction though they are made of a hard rubber and just cup the spheres.
I see a creative original artist. I like how you took your time with the project. The singing was great and could be more and longer. The outcome was beautiful. Keep it up. Thanks.
Thank you 😊 I am definitely not the best singer, but it is just that these songs just pop into my head, but when I start singing them all the sudden I realize I don’t know as many of the words as I thought. 🤣🤣
I met you at my workplace, you were looking for an apparatus to hold your phone for recording. It’s a big box store . I am a woodworker as a hobby, haven’t gotten into turning but I enjoy your videos
I turned a very old fence post for memories. Not as nice of wood as yours. Pretty sure we fo not gave Osage Orange here in Oregon. Nice job on yours. Gary
Thanks for stopping by and watching my video Gary. I have been watching your videos for several years. You didn’t know but you were one of my TH-cam professors 🤣🤣. When I am finishing the bottoms of my pieces your voice pops into my head saying the sanding is just as important on the bottom of the piece. Thanks for everything.
Thanks for your advice. I was worried about the CA glue staining the wood so I put a layer of sanding sealer on and then again another layer of the sanding sealer on after some more sanding was done.
Hello! My first time to see you. Just wondering if you cut the top excess epoxy off with the band saw and save it for another project? It looks like a big project.what tool are you using there? Looks like it is pretty smooth to work with. Now you have something new I’ve not seen. What kind of chucks are those? A very beautiful mantle or desk piece! Great work! I love your lath too. Very beefy!
Hi Carol, thanks for your questions. Actually I did not have as much extra on the top of the piece as I felt at the beginning, but had it been a lot more that would be a good idea to cut excess off. Now that being said you have to very careful cutting things like this on a bandsaw. So if I were to take a portion off I would probably have parted off on the Lathe with a parting tool and saw. The tools I used for this project were carbide tools for roughing out the shape of the sphere , Carter sphere jig was used to refine the sphere shape , a bowl gouge and a skew was used for shear scraping. The chucks that I used was M-T chucks by Carter products. Again thank you for your questions and watching my videos.
I turned a piece of Osage Orange that a viewer sent me a few weeks ago. It didn’t end well but I found that it turned nicely and was also very easy to sand. I caught an edge and it exploded before I was finished but that was my fault 😬 Well done on your sphere! I hope the epoxy holds up for you.
Tom so sorry for the delay in responding to you about the red oak logs you have. I have some red oak but could always use some more, but unfortunately I am going to be out of town for a couple of weeks. So it could be a quite awhile before I could come and get them. Again thank you for the offer and if you need them gone sooner I understand.
Natural turnings can be gorgeous but, epoxy can add another dimension. I have been exploring other options as fillers. Hang in there maybe I will create something you like. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment.
I am not sure how to send pictures on TH-cam comments, but you are more than welcome to email at woodturningbyvicki@gmail.com and send pictures that way if you know how to do that. Thanks again.
I enjoyed watching, I'm new to turning and I was wondering what type of Epoxy I can use, what was the stuff that you squeezed into the small holes and what did you spray on it. I also wondering what type of wax you used to shine it. Thanks for your time Bob
Thank you for watching my video. I have used several different types and kinds of epoxy. So as far what kind I would suggest it all depends on how deep of a pour you might be doing. I have used everything between deep pour epoxies to bar top epoxies. There have been times when I have used bar top epoxies and had it cracked and had to do a second pour. I also use a pressure pot or something a vacuum pot to help with the process, which is not always necessary but helps with air bubbles. Hopefully I didn’t overwhelm you with this information. As far as the stuff I put into the small holes it was CA glue by Starbond it is like a super glue. The spray is an activator to help it set up faster. I didn’t use a wax on my sphere after the wet sanding I used a sanding sealer two different sanding pastes by Yorkshire Grit. The second sanding paste helps polish the epoxy but both will help bring up the shine. Again thank you for watching and hopefully I was able to answer your questions.
That is beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
Perfektní
Thank you
It looks amazing! ❤
Thank you!! 😍
Very nice turning skills. I have never seen the between center suction cup type things before. great looking project.
Thank you very much! I just recently bought the Carter M-T chucks that a holding the sphere. The are not suction though they are made of a hard rubber and just cup the spheres.

Some resins, especially deep pour, have a longer cure time than small project resins. Guessing it will harden off given more time. Nice final result.
That is what I'm hoping for, and thank you for watching.
Just started turning myself and I’m hooked.Your pieces are stunning next level thanks for sharing.
Awesome! Thank you!
A beautiful piece of wood. Well done.
Thank you Jean!
Very nice!

I have an old fence post I need to cast as well! Fun project!
It was a fun project. I will be watching out for the video of your fence post when you decide to do it. 😉
Looks great, you are an artist. Great job.
Thank you so much 😀
Great video. I have some hedge post from our farm. They are at least 70 years old, they were there when i was a kid.
Thank you very much. ☺️
Those old hedge posts are so unique. Think of the history attached to them.
That post turned out amazing. Nice work Vicki!
Thanks so much! 😊

Thanks David for watching and your comments are always great. 😊
To keep your piece down when pouring in epoxy glue the piece to the bottom before pouring in the epoxy. great job.
Thanks for your advice.

I enjoy your videos, met you at my workplace, Menards
Oh thank you so much for watching. Yes remember you help me at the store.
The CA glue shoulda gone on before the sealer?
Thanks for your advice. I was worried about the CA glue staining the wood so I put a layer of sanding sealer on and then again another layer of the sanding sealer on after some more sanding was done.

Oh no. I will have to go and check that out. The epoxy has held up great. Thanks for watching and commenting.
What brand is your sphere jig?
Thanks
The brand of the sphere jig is Carter Products.
Great work where did you find those chucks ?
My brother in-law actually game me parts of a fence post. I believe he got it off his farm. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I’ll check soon. I’m thinking it’s hickory
Thanks
Would you be interested in any or all of these logs? They are red oak

I cup up a fallen tree a couple months ago if you are interested, firewood size pieces
Thanks Tom, for the offer what type of wood do you have.
That piece looks like a eyeball.
I agree it definitely looks like an eye if you look at in a certain direction.
No hurry. I was going to send a picture but couldn’t figure out how to.
